QUOTE(river.sand @ Oct 13 2016, 11:08 AM) I am also pretty new to UTF investment, so let's learn together. How we know the fund is index fund? u mean TA-Global-Technology-Fund is an index fund?.... From the table, even though the fund underperformed the index for 5 years, the returns were still very good. I pointed out elsewhere, certain indexes are probably bubbles waiting to burst. See attachment... In any case, if you can't buy a corresponding index fund, maybe TA Global Tech is an acceptable alternative. because i dont know how to recognise the index fund. thanks for the opinion |

Please give a specific example of indexes which are potentially bubbles waiting to burst, so that we can digest the numbers and determine it. Your attachment are words only, very hard to digest. From the table, even though the fund underperformed the index for 5 years, the returns were still very good. QUOTE(AIYH @ Oct 13 2016, 10:45 AM) I believe that if you can't accept the first scenario, is best not to invest in funds that are sector focus (like minerals, property, technology etc...) as if anything happen to the sector as a whole your investment will go down to the drain This reply is good and is exactly answering my question. Of course, it will be still varies from person to person, but it is a good starting point. If still can accept 10-20% loss then diversified EQ funds will be ok if can accept 5-10% loss then balanced fund will be good. Less than that, just stick to fixed income Above is how I evaluate, others will have different opinion |

QUOTE(T231H @ Oct 13 2016, 12:17 PM) AMB and RHB track KLCI while PMB track FBMSHA.Not sure whether is it right to comment this way? But in terms of performance in local equities, be it conventional or islamic counterpart, would it be better if you invest in those non index-linked fund? See attached. Attached thumbnail(s) |

I am just looking at the graphs for TA GTF. Due to the recent 5-for-1 split, the graphs and volatility calculation go haywire. Don't they compensate it to make it more reflective of the truth ?

hi all sifu, i m new to FSM.. was previously regular invester in public mutual fund for few years.
keen to start in FSM due to the low service charge compare to PM.. since it's online portal, how reliable is it? does the fund tie to our FSM id instead of our real identity(ic) if let say, suddenly FSM not more active, where the money go? sorry for the noob question |

QUOTE(ivzh @ Oct 13 2016, 12:38 PM) hi all sifu, i m new to FSM.. was previously regular invester in public mutual fund for few years. if they "Cabut" with your money...don't blame me...keen to start in FSM due to the low service charge compare to PM.. since it's online portal, how reliable is it? does the fund tie to our FSM id instead of our real identity(ic) if let say, suddenly FSM not more active, where the money go? sorry for the noob question Q: What if iFAST/Fundsupermart ceases as a business concern? A: Fundsupermart is the online unit trust distribution arm of iFAST Capital Sdn. Bhd. ("iFAST Capital"). iFAST Capital is a holder of a Capital Markets Services Licence (CSML) and is licensed by the Securities Commission to deal in unit trusts, offer investment advisory services and deal in Private Retirement Scheme. iFAST Capital is also registered with the Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia (FiMM) as an Institutional Unit Trust Adviser (IUTA). Find out more About Us. For cash investments, all units will be registered under iFAST Nominees Sdn. Bhd. For EPF Account 1 investment, they will be registered in your names. These units are segregated from the company’s assets. In the unlikely event that iFAST Capital ceases as a business concern, with your permission, all your assets registered under iFAST Nominees Sdn. Bhd. will be transferred to another Institutional Unit Trust Advisers (IUTA) or they will be returned to you. https://www.fundsupermart.com.my/main/faq/2...Information-998 This post has been edited by T231H: Oct 13 2016, 12:41 PM |
