Get myself the Italian Cruiser Duca d'Aosta in the game & make myself become a lab rat if anybody here wanna get her in the future.
This is my small review after test her with 21 game run.
Before I start, let me point for you about this ship structure, so u will what to do after this.
As u can see below, that is her armor belt. This is helpful & u will know what to do when to play her, or when u see & engage her in the game later on.
The
Duca d'Aosta is the 1st
Tier 6 Italian premium cruiser in the game - is the the proof that the Italy was stop giving a damn on their asset & improve their weapon technology in war; but instead going on how making something fast.
Just like the well-known car maker that made in Italy, their well known for fast car, premium look & cosmetic stuff. But
don't be fool by it, because once ur stuff were break down, their simply stop giving a damn about u.
The Duca d'Aosta is a beautiful ship come with blue camouflage - so those peasant with poor eyesight & the poorfag with shitty computer cut have difficulty to aim at ur ship. The only thing that making ur ship detectable to ur enemy is those shitty red zebra cross-line on her deck.
=======================================================================================================================================================
The Armament
The Duca d'Aosta have
4x2 main turrets &
2x3 torpedoes which is the only thing that work on the ships. Her main gun seems the same as RN cruiser line (but de'Pasta got HE), but again....
DONT BE FOOL WITH IT. So, before u cry like a baby and rant in the forum & telling everyone that u sold ur kidney just to bought this pieace of s**t , here's the thing u should know.
Despite she have good DPM & shells velocity, the Duca d'Aosta is
NOT SNIPER SCRUB .
She's
got crap accuracy,
lack penetration,
lack of range (14 km),
takes 21 sec for her turret to turn (even with EM on ur captain & Aim Mod were install on ur ship), and
ur shells are really really lazy (means that ur shell will reach the sea before hits the enemy) even in close range.
Some example from screenshot aiming in Duca d'Aosta. Take note the enemy BB Fuso running in full speed charging in 4.8 km range with almost broadside angle.
As u can see I purposely aiming above Fuso upper belt (Fuso weak spot). Instead hitting the area I want, the shells reach below to Fuso bow & some of the shells reach the sea before hits the target.
How to aim So, if you want to be a
PRO & not become a
DERP by wasting spamming ur shells and landing it to the sea, here's a simple thing that u should do.
U aim a bit higher from your where u want to shoot at ur target.
Some example: If u facing a broadside cruiser, instead aiming on ship waterline (the ships weakspot), u aim a bit higher, so ur shells can penetrate & dealing a heavy damage to enemies ship.
You do the same thing when u facing enemies BB as well (hit their upper-haul - their weak spot & easy to pen even with cruiser).
==========================================================================================================================================================
As for the other armament, u have the torpedoes; come with great cooldown (7.1 sec), 12 km range target & the lowest detection in the game 1.0 km...... but again,
DON'T BE FOOL WITH THE SUGARCANE.
GGWP WG, WP
As her torpedoes, despite those great spec, her torpedoes are really faking slow (51 knots) & the the torpedo aiming assistant on her aren't accurate (Notes: The torpedo aiming assist is for 55 knots torpedoes speed, so u aim a bit above from the aiming assist provide to u if u planning to launch from far & of course with some help from RNG if u plan on launch at maximum range.).
So u use ur torpedoes for the easy victims like BB or the smoke camper or anything that comes in close range.
For her secondaries, she only got 3 secondaries gun (which ridiculously position at the back of the ships) & 11 AA guns are nothing more than a cosmetic thing which is only useful for firework shows rather protecting the ship itself. Despite she have AA alert consumable, her AA only can shoot the enemy plane around 4 km & below - ridiculously can't even shoot a single enemy CV plane in the game (unless u put some buff on her AA).
Even the defense fire is run-out, still can't kill a single plane in close range. Took it a min to kill it.
=======================================================================================================================================================
HandlingThe Duca d'Aosta has great handling since it manufacture in Italy, along with a big manufacture like Ferrari, Bugatti, Maserati, Spaghetti...Ops (Name the brand u know, Nerd). She's fast with 36.5 knots & does't have problem when turn (better than Myoko & Atago).
Well, made in Italy.
=======================================================================================================================================================
How to play her.Here the first rule to play her -
U NOT A SNIPER SCRUB .
So, to be a pro playing de'Pasta, you play supportive role & move along ur teammates.
This is how u tune up ur sport car.
a. For the module, u take:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

1st slot - Install Main Armament Mod 1 - no need to explain
2nd slot - Install AA guns mod 1- Why? Because it will increase ur AA range & helps a lot when enemy CV try to take a bite of u. Since u have defense fire consumable & despite u can't kill the enemy plane, u still can mess up with enemies torpedoes drop. Consider it as insurance policy.
3rd slot - Install Damage control mod 1 - No need explain
4th slot - Install Engine acceleration- since u running with Ferrari engine, u need to be fast when run & u need fast to turn on ur engine.
b. For ur captain skill, as for the core skill u take.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Tier 1- Preventative Maintenance
Tier 2 - Expert Marksman (since ur turret too lazy) or Last Stand (so ur engine aren't dead or having problem when u try running away)
Tier 3 - Demolition Expert (So u can burn enemy ships like nobody business) or Vigilance (for better handling incase u need torpedobeat)
Tier 4 - Concealment Expert (since ur ship too big and too famous in the magazine)
For the rest of the point u got, do whatever u want with it. In case WG plan to put Italian Ships line in the game later on
U will run mostly load ur ship on HE shells, because ur AP are s**t, unless ur in close range (6 km) u can turn ur enemy with ur AP- in conclusion its very similar with Atlanta
U don't go YOLO like an idiot, because u're really big & hard to hide; makes u become a victim to ur enemy who wanna taste of urs - Remember, u a pasta & pasta is really delicious.
Instead u bait the enemy ships with ur speed & drag them to ur team, so they can be shot as well
U helping ur DD in ur team to caps & help them spot the enemy by using ur spotting aircraft, which is helpful.
U wait for opportunities while hiding behind the island. U punish over the people who over commit & take a good shot.
GGWP
When u see the enemies ship try to get closer, u do not bow on. Instead u go for the side on angle; since 70mm belt armor is a middle finger to 203mm shells that goes 30 knots.
=======================================================================================================================================================
Remember this is not the only thing u do.
- De'Pasta is
NOT A SNIPER SCRUB & u don't sit 12 km behind ur ally and try snipe like a scrub.
If ur ally are s**ts , u will do bad & get no damage.
"Fak, where is everybody? And why the heck the DD run away"

If ur RNG hate U, u will do bad & get no damage.
"NO DAMAGE. R U KIDDING ME!!!WTF BBQ. STUPIAK RNG"

The Duca d'Aosta can't solo carry, even she's fast - because the Italy not giving a damn on making good weapon & they only care about making something fast.
Now u know how to play the Duca d'Aosta.
Now u don't have to whine about it in the WOW forum or here.
Go out there & wreck some scrub with ur delicious Pasta........................OR save ur RM90 to buy combo meal at KFC or McD......OR buy something else.
