Car Reviews
Honest John » Car by Car » Volkswagen » Tiguan 2016
Volkswagen Tiguan (2016 - )

What to watch out for
High starting price compared to rivals.
All diesels need AdBlue.
Volkwagen fits a tyre pressure loss indicator as standard (to match its legal requirements) but the actual tyre pressure monitoring system for each individual wheel is extra. About £130 for the new Tiguan.
17-9-2016: Complaint of optional DCC fitted to new Tiguan not seeming to work.
8-10-2016: Faults on brand new 66 reg Volkswagen Tiguan purchased on 2rd September 2016 included: one of the door mirrors has started making a crunching sound; there is a motor sound in the dash that keeps going round and round as if trying to adjust something; the front air blower doesn't work when the aircon is switched on; an airbag warning has come up: all these in one day on a car costing £32,000.
Recalls
27-01-2017: R/2016/272: Tiguan (5N): Front seat backrest may collapse in a collision: The back-rests of the front seats may not have been assembled correctly. This may increase risk of injury to occupants during a collision. Fix: On affected vehicles check frames and if necessary replace affected components. VIN: WVGZZZ5NZHW329130 to WVGZZZ5NZHW826108; Build dates: 01-08-2016 to 31-10-2016

Whats the different with CX-5 reliability? We just have to wait and see how reliable with the newer 2017. Doesnt look good with the previous gen.

Don't think R-line Line and 2.0 is available in Malaysia.

no R-line or 2.0 as of now.

only 1.4 two different variants. i think 2.0 has no market so they dun intend to bring in (at least for now)

Very little car models in bolehland has acc actually. Except those supe high end models maybe will have. It is not very common here.

But I am happy that the Tiguan has auto parking features.

Too bad they dun have the kick to open boot function and delay closing button for the boot. I actually like these two features more.

This bolehland... I understand that our automotive sales isn't as big as the USA, etc.. However, can't we also get nice things? Even as we pay full price too. grumble.gif

Obviously it is not possible.

Bolehland is known to get cut price again at high price. And dealer will not bring in any high spec thing also as bolehland ppl cares more about price than spec.

From a total sales pov, I get it. Just wish they'd offer it and see how many might sign up.. While preferred, doesn't have to be CBU, to reduce costs and taxes associated with full imports. Personally, I wouldn't mind waiting a few months for the right specs. Others may not.

I dun mind to add extra for the extra spec too. But in bolehland, it is just not common that they make it an optional choice for customers.

You the one who hold the money isnt it? If you tell them you wouldn't buy their product because they don't have this and that. Its all down to demand if the majority consumers are happy with low spec car then the distributor wouldn't supply high spec car because that no demand.

If majority of us start demanding then they will have to respond to the market demand otherwise we take our money somewhere else. The money still in your hand you have the choice.

if u know boelhland ppl's buying priority, u know it is unlikely as 'majority' like I said, price is the 'only' concern, ppl may compare and complain about spec this spec that, but in the end, they still go for the price only.

looking at the sales, u know that P2, P1, Honda and Toyota are the choices for most ppl, because of price.

Tiguan 2017 is a perfectly good car,but in the end the potential buyers will be minority still as there are many many other cheaper options that are what majority bolehland ppl care only. It has nothing wrong with the car but more about buyers.

If there is not even enough buyers for this car, the dealer will not even bother to offer other things.
customers are the deciding factor, correct, but what makes what dealers do now are due to the cause that was done over many many years and it was decided based on the consumers behavior over the past many many years. It is possible to change, but if the consumers especially majority do not, nothing will really happen.

If u compare country like Taiwan which has full range of engine variants for Tiguan there, even they do not have things like acc given that they are more major market than bolehland, I do not foresee the local dealer will bother much about local market even the minority. Only if this car becomes a favorite for majority, else it is impossible. But this is super unlikely.

In fact, given the current spec of the new tiguan for bolehland, both spec and price are already more than what could be expected in the past in terms of surprise.
