Bro the nursery is at Kajang. At Desa Impian Kajang, Near Kajang Perdana McD.

The Nursery Owner name is AKU = 012 - 6123599

Try calling them and see if they have stock bro.

Getting them here and sending it back is cheaper and better. Like your idea

QUOTE(MrFarmer @ Oct 19 2013, 12:52 PM)
Thinking of removing the soil, bag it to keep them moist. Hand carry back with me. No soil, hand carry no need to quarantine. ( no inspection  biggrin.gif
Once arrived, plant them immediately and keep under shade with care. Then transfer to field.
Spoke with a friend before. they did it for Durian Red Prawn.

Possible to get 5 each for me Mastura & CJ3? Or is the nursery in Mantin? I can just drop by & buy from them next week?

Hi Bro,

thanks for the news.

bringing the produces online can actually help the farmers get a better price rather than getting squeezed by middleman.

farmers take all the risks while the middleman gets all the rewards

exporting and going online are several ways to get a much better price for their blood and sweat.

which part of temerloh you went for your jackfruit quest ??? what is so special about it ? do share bro

More interesting News to share.
Maybe we can emulate this here  rclxms.gif
Japan: Farm-fresh produce delivery goes online

A growing number of consumers are purchasing fresh vegetables and fruit online directly from farmers.

Ayako Kakumoto, 36, a company employee from Tokyo’s Toshima Ward, began ordering vegetables six months ago on the My Farmer website operated by Tokyo-based mobile phone content developer Cybird Co. “I started shopping on the site as I became conscious of where vegetables are grown following the (March 2011) Great East Japan Earthquake,” Kakumoto said.

The earthquake and tsunami triggered the crisis at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant, fueling fears of radiation contamination in food.

Kakumoto said she likes the vegetables she purchases from the site, explaining that the green peppers, for example, “are very thick and taste the way I believe peppers should taste.”

Cybird launched the service in 2010 and has attracted about 12,000 members, mainly women in the Tokyo metropolitan area, according to the company. On the site, members can purchase vegetables and fruit produced by around 60 farmers from Hokkaido to Okinawa. Less than 10 percent of the members order products on a regular basis under the “private farmer” system, according to Cybird.

The company runs a vegetable market in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward every month that brings together its contract farmers. “We wanted to create a system that allows consumers to feel safe about purchasing vegetables from specific farmers,” said Rikiyoshi Yoshida, who founded the service. The site posts pictures of the farmers along with explanations about where and how the vegetables and fruit are grown.

The operators can deliver fresh produce to consumers at reasonable prices as sourcing directly from producers allows them to cut delivery times and costs.

What was said about the RED Jackfruit ??
where was it originated from ??

Did you get the honey jackfruit also ?

QUOTE(MrFarmer @ Oct 23 2013, 07:21 PM)
I went to Suzi's Nursery in Temerloh.
They have quite a number of Jack fruit clone.
The new Red Jack fruit
CJ-3
CJ-6 (no stock)
Mastura J37
Tekam Yellow J33
I acquire the Red, CJ-3 & Mastura. I feel that each clone has their own characteristic. Am still comparing and still do not have much details. Details on the Red / Mastura / CJ is kind of less.

Just trying to have some of each. My thinking is that a single / mono clone for the whole farm may not be that ideal.

Actually Honey Jackfruit is the commercial name where as J33 and Tekam Yellow is DOA name.

same like D197 aka Durian Raja Kunyit aka Musang King aka Mao Shan Wang

there is a clone here in Mantin which has red flesh also...so now i also blur

QUOTE(MrFarmer @ Oct 23 2013, 11:33 PM)
From my research the term Honey Jackfruit is a term used on the sweet crunchy golden yellow type. Starting from J 33, Tikam Yellow is already classify as Honey Jackfruit.

Red is something new, not yet register. Not much information on the net, so has to test out myself. It's suppose sweet, crunchy, thick fruit.

I got the Mastura J 37, CJ-3 & the Red, total 30 plants.

sorry bro msg got deleted accidentally by me...haha

what i wanted to say was though there are allocations of up to RM 8B but hardly it will trickle down to farmers. the bulk of it goes to infra works

and there are many overlapping things that the PM announced. IE... Establish the Food and Agro Council for Export (FACE), FAMA is currently performing this role if not mistaken. why not just strengthen it. instead of creating another council with more civil servants

before we are all agreeable on the export market though lucrative, has local demand been sufficiently met ?? if not why head overseas when your local market craves for demand.

We should have a policy where for every 30% of export you sent out 70% must be locally marketed until local demand are met and then we can think of export. keep exporting out at the expenses of the Rakyat.

if there is oversupply in the market of course then you export.

Hi xeroxphan,

welcome to the club biggrin.gif

1) how long have the both of you been in the field ?? if just starting i would sincerely suggest to work a few years with them to understand the inner works before planning to venture out

2) seldom ppl do integration of fruits and vegetables. mostly do intercropping between fruits OR vegetables. depending on cash flow then only you can decide on doing fruits or vegetables. i would suggest leasing farms for trial runs

3) most welcome to come out and yum cha and talk

where are the both of you from ???

QUOTE(xeroxphan @ Nov 28 2013, 10:57 AM)
Hey guys,

My friend and I are interested in venturing into Ag business mainly fruits and vegetables. Couple of questions:

1) We just graduated, in our early 20s. How can we actually get started in Ag nowadays? We have a full-time job. I am in Oil Palm Plantation; he is in Ag chemicals. Should we go full time or part time into Ag? What is the starting capital? We plan to go all Ag soon if our farm is established.
2) We plan to do integration for fruit or vegetables. Intercropping while waiting for main crop. For newbs like us, which is a better choice, fruit or vegetables? Considering we do not have any land and we would most probably start small, approx. 3-4 ac of land.
3) Any of the seniors here are willing to show us your farm and give us some advice? We can drive to your farm for the visit. Or maybe spare us some land not in cultivation for our trial and error.

We're very serious in venturing into Ag. Hopefully I can get some good response from the seniors.

Thank you very much.

Hi

i would suggest you can go to agrobank or DOA since both of you are graduates. they have some loans if not mistaken.
i suggest you lease farms from land owners or contact local DOA

great to meet up biggrin.gif

QUOTE(xeroxphan @ Nov 29 2013, 04:36 PM)
Heya Mr. Para,

We just recently graduated. We both studied Agronomy. Yea, we plan to work for a few years before entering the ag business entirely. But at the moment, maybe we could do some part-time farming for trial and error and to learn more. My friend have been visiting farms because he's working in the ag chemical field. I am in the oil palm agronomy and research now. But with the high land prices, we couldn't catch up by just saving our money for the capital. Do you know where can we get funding or any other solution?

We're both in KL/PJ area. Would love to meet with you guys. It's always good to do connections.

Hi People,

Just got back from the JB from the Export Course - Stage 1 that was organised by FAMA.

After talking to a few of the officers from FAMA about their plan next year, they are on the works on a AgroBazaar in Singapore at the end of the month.

They also announced that there will be 19 Trade fairs overseas promoting Malaysia Fresh Fruits & Downstream products.

=========================

I am interested to know how many are currently :-

a) Farmers (please state what fruit or vege)

b) Aquaculture (what are you fish farming)
