Hi , here with some idea for your advise

1. Choose the hotel which is near to OSAKA STATION / UMEDA STATION so that is easier for you to travel within OSAKA, KYOTO, NARA
2. If you have 2 days extra , plan a short trip to KOBE and HIMEJI too.
3. Most of the train station are operate until 11.50pm, but you don't need to worry as most of the shop operation hours is until 8pm only.

Things to do / Attractions :

OSAKA : Dotonbury , Umeda Sky Building , OSAKA castle
KYOTO : Fushimi inari, Kiyomizu dera , Arashiyama ( Bamboo forest , Otagi nenbutsugi ) , Nishiki Market
KOBE : Arima Onsen
HIMEJI : HIMEJI Castle ( Top 3 Castle in Japan )
NARA : NARA Park , Todaiji Temple

One of my favorite hotel is Grand-Fine / Fine-Garden , you may take a look on it.
I hope it would help you on the idea for your itinerary , i am traveling to Osaka on 29th October  wink.gif ,

If you have a plan to travel to HAKONE , find hotel near to GORA STATION or HAKONE YUMOTO STATION

These station is very convenience for you to go to HAKONE SHRINE , and easier for you to return to TOKYO / OSAKA.
The best is if you can spend 3 days to FUJI and HAKONE , you can buy FUJIHAKONE Pass for 3 days unlimited in Shinjuku station Tokyo ,and you can travel around from Fujikawaguchiko for Fuji Mountain, Lake Yamanakako , Gotemba Premium outlet for branded goods and Hakone.

I hope it help for your travel itinerary. smile.gif

I really appreciate your feedback/input.
so my wife want more shopping like clothes/ladies accessories and we are under the impression Osaka has more of this shopping especially shinsaibashi. enlighten me please smile.gif
- we both love an ez 1-2hour hike with nice scenic view, cool air.
- I certainly love those building, temple architecture, but wife don't appreciate as much as I do, so need to strike a balance here smile.gif
- any nice cool library in Osaka, Kyoto worth pay a visit?
- for Osaka, plan to stay either in Grandvia hotel (right on the Umeda stop) OR best western which is near to Shinsaibashi.
- for Kyoto, plan to stay in Dormy Inn Premium Kyoto Ekimae (opposite Kyoto station, the hotel has got free onsen in house smile.gif )

need your kind input again. thanks!
*
Going with woman. Sure have to put more days on Shopping. mad.gif
Your schedule are quite tight too...I don't recomemded you waste time on Library.
Osaka part can stay at Dormy Inn Premium Namba Natural Hot Spring
Kyoto side Dormy Inn Premium Kyoto Ekimae

Dormy Inn breakfast and house onsen are one of best in Japan. You will never forget.
I Guarantee you with my 620 times to Japan experience.

Edit : I have a question too, anyone experienced visiting Tokyo Disneyland a day before or after publc holiday at Japan? Or is that place 365 days same crowded like USJ?
*
Tokyo Disneyland got low season. You can refer to my Tips of the months Excel Helicopter ride. Around July are less people. So less people until like ghost town. Really depends luck.

2nd day        Go to Kyoto  -   Kiyomizu -Dera n surrounding
                   if time permits then Kinkakuji.

3rd Day        First Half day In Nara   - Todaiji Temple
                                                     - Deer Park
                    2nd half day     Osaka/Fuhsimi Inari

                                 -    Osaka Castle
                                 - Shopping around Dotonbori or Shinsaibashi

5th Day       Osaka      - Morning walk around Shin Osaka
                                 - Mid -day depart for Airport
                                 - My flight departs at 4.30pm

Sifu please comment n recommend changes.
*
Day 1 can visit Umeda Area for Dinner + Umeda Sky Building after dinner leisure time. Not far away from Shin-Osaka Station. [[Take Midosuji Line Metro]]

Day 2 Go very early morning. Must reach Fushimi Inari before 8am. Then Visit Kiyomizu -Dera. Last Kinkakuji. Dinner at Nishiki Market.
After Dinner, have a peaceful walk near Sanjo Station. Walk along river. Supper at Famous Pontocho Alley.

Day 3 From Osaka Namba Station take Kintetsu Nara Line to Nara. Make it Full Day. Dinner at Namba area.

Day 4 No problem. Follow your plan as you wish.

Day 5.....Please Reach Kansai Airport 3 Hours before your flight. 2 - 5pm are Kansai Airport most busiest time. Custom Q are extremely long.

I'll be arriving at Haneda airport at night around 10:30pm. After imigresen and all those etc etc, which may take around an hour, do i still have train/bus transport access to shibuya tokyo?
*
Yor chances to catch last train are minimum.
But still have Limosine Bus to Tokyo City.
You have to buy limosine bus ticket at counter first then only go line up at Bus stop.

Hi all sifu,
I have study the JR Yamatoji line (Kansai line) for 2 days.
I still dont understand this line.
My question is
1. JR Yamatoji line start at Kamo station, when reach shin-imamiya, then train go to Namba or tennoji?
TQ.
*
This is a good question. This JR Yamatoji Line start from Kamo Station all the way down to Tennoji Station. Then It will share using the JR Loop Line to Shin Imamiya Station.
Most of JR Yamatoji Line Train stop at Shin Imamiya Station.
Only ''Yamatoji Rapid Service'' JR Yamatoji Line Train continue from Shin Imamiya to Imamiya Station. This mean ''Yamatoji Rapid Service'' train will be start from Kamo Station to Imamiya Station.
Only ''Rapid Service'' will reach Namba Station from Kamo Station.

QUOTE(tinyback @ Sep 2 2016, 06:51 PM)
Thank you very much for the valuable advise.
Justwish to enquire further as regards to the 2nd day's itinerary. Is it possible for us to cover so  much and
have supper in Kyoto because we are putting up in Osaka.

Really look forward to your comments and adviice.
*
It can be done. I done this way more than 200 times.
Last train leaving Kyoto Station to Shin Osaka Station are 00:15 [[JR Kyoto Line]]
Please Used Google Map. All Places start from Dinner to supper are very closed each other. All walking distant

The bus number are 100,202,206 & 207..

Thank for your reply.  thumbsup.gif
Now I understand more on the Yamatoji line.
As I know, there are 4 train running at Yamatoji line (Yamatoji Rapid Service, Rapid Service, Direct Rapid Service and Local train).
I am probably stay in Namba for 3 night.
So, in order to departure and back to Namba, I only can use Rapid Service and Local train to Namba station??
By the way, is that really good idea to stay in Namba? ( I know Namba is famous with shopping and a lot shop).
Thank a lot for yours reply.....

First Please Quote all the post you want to reply and done under one post.
JR Rail Pass are useless in Tokyo , Kyoto , Osaka , Hakone , Kawaguchiko. So you cannot used JR Rail Pass at Kyoto Buses & Metro & train except JR one.
Yes, Namba are good choice. Happening places = noise.

I am going Japan for 12 days.
The plan now is 1st 5 days in Tokyo.
6th and 7th day to Disneyland/sea
8th and 9th Mount Fuji
10th - 12th Kyoto.

Since I am getting JR 7days pass, so I'll activate it on 6th day.

Do you think this itinerary do-able?

Thanks in advance!!
*
You just going one direction. From Tokyo > Kyoto only. No need waste money on JR Rail Pass.
JR Rail Pass are useless in Tokyo , Lake Kawahichiko , Osaka , Kyoto too.
Unless you going Both way. Then only worth the price.

Ah.. I have already bought 7 days JR pass.
Thinking on how to utilize it nicely.
Traveling from Tokyo to Disneyland/Mount Fuji is not by JR line?
*
Too Bad.....
As long you not using Shinkansen both way between Tokyo > Osaka / Kyoto > Tokyo. You 100% rugi. The price you pay on JR Rail Pass still will be more expensive than you buy normal ticket.

Tokyo to Disneyland will be 90% JR / 10% not JR.
From Tokyo Station take JR Keiyo Line to Maihama Station. [JR Train]
From Maihama Station to Disneyland are Disney Resort Line [ Private Line] (Cannot used JR Rail Pass)

Mount Fuji Area 0% JR line Cover.

JR Train only covers 40% entire Tokyo.

JR Train only covers 35% entire Osaka City.

JR Train only covers 10% entire Kyoto City.

Tips of the months:

Snow Monkey Pass. This pass will make you save money when you plan to visit Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park.
It covers the parks entrance fees + unlimited train + bus ride from Nagano Station to Yudanaka Station.
It just cost 2900 Yen!!

Bus ride from Nagano Station to Kanyabashi Onsen Stop already cost 1400 Yen per way!!!

From Tokyo Station to Nagano Station just take Hokuriku Shinkansen. Easy as 1 2 3.
Story part start at Nagano Station. Once you reach Nagano Station then follow sign to Nagano Dentetsu Station. 長野電鉄 (Private Railway Company)
Inside Nagano Dentetsu Station buy this Snow Monkey Pass.
user posted image

After getting this Pass. You got 2 Option which is Taking Bus from Nagano Station directly to Kanyabashi Onsen Stop or taking Nagano Dentetsu - Nagano Line to Last station which is Yudanaka Station.
Due to heavy snow, I choose taking train to Yudanaka Station.
user posted image

At Yudanaka Station taking Bus to Kanbayashi Onsen which is included by Pass. The Bus Stop at Kanbayashi Onsen can refer to Map. Which is beside a Gas Station.

booked ticket from KK to narita from 3-10 October. Just realised here that it is the time to avoid to go Japan because China National Holiday?

Anyway, need guidance. any recommended onsen to go from Tokyo? (don't mind 2-5 hours journey) besides Hakone because been there.

Not sure whether this place is good - 2-53 yasukawa-cho, nikko-shi, tochigi.

"The view of the mountains from spots such as the room and open-air baths is beautiful. Listen to the babbling of the river that flows nearby. 3 minutes by walk to Nikko Toshogu Shrine, which is a World Heritage site. 100 min by Tobu Limited Express from Asakusa Sta., Tokyo, or 95 min by JR Shinkansen from Tokyo Sta. “No. 1” ryokan in Japan - 3 minutes by walk to Nikko Toshogu Shrine, which is a World Heritage site"
*
Due to National Holiday of China. Going Nikko will be facing huge crowd.
If you want a good relax onsen area. Have to go far away from Tokyo & go deep.

I got a place for you. Sure can avoid 95% of China Tourist. It called Ginzan Onsen 銀山温泉 at Yamagata.
From Tokyo Station take Yamagata Shinkansen to reach Oishida Station. From Oishida Station take Bus to Ginza Onsen. Deep inside Yamagata Prefecture.
Entire Journey takes 4 Hours. Without JR Rail Pass, 2 way ticket cost around 26,000 Yen

Kusatsu Onsen also a famous onsen place. Because it so famous, alot China tourist also knowing this placed. Gambling 50/50. It might be very crowded too.

May I know normally how much you guys spend on trains in Tokyo? By my calculation, a 8 days trip is going to cost me RM 750 alone for trains (Include to/from Narita by cheap Keisei train). That's about 100 per day. I've looked at Tokunai pass but it's not really suitable for me. Is there any discount passes or ways to minimize cost? Thanks.
*
Narita Airport to Tokyo can change to bus.
Refer to Page1. Just cost you 1000yen per way. Save alot money.
