How long you think?

To TS, some of the engineers are on-call and they're equipped with pagers in order to page you when there's a need.

What position are you applying?

Komag make the aluminium/glass platters that go into the hard disk.
When times are good, they are generous a paymaster with good benefits.
Work culture-wise.... sweat.gif
I think their use of pagers is excessive to the point of ridiculous.
I was there many years ago and left just before they hit bottom. If I had stayed on I probably would have been earning more than I do now, and too pampered/overpaid/underqualified to be fit for another job....tongue.gif
Komag is a great place to earn money, but I don't like the culture there... too *Malaysian*

a bit defensive and negative.... sweat.gif
at least that was how I felt it was a long time ago.
KOMG is a nasdaq listed company, but the CEO was M'sian....
One of the more hare-brained ideas I heard last time was that they wanted to venture into networking optical fibres or something like that...(for the record I do not know what became of that venture).
I remember that TH (the outgoing CEO) was influenced by the brand name Docomo, and wanted to create a subsidiary for his venture and call it...."Kokaho" (Hokkien for "even better"). sweat.gif

Komag used to retrench their employees a few years ago. I thought they're moving out from Malaysia until recently they started to expand their plant again. Same case goes to their neighbour AMD biggrin.gif

I heard some country like China got quality issue. For example Seagate moved some of their operation to China and they found out the quality is very bad. That's why my brot-in-law who in charge of quality dept need to travel to China quite frequent biggrin.gif

Well, China, India and Vietnam will be in the eyes of investors in the coming years when proper standards and regulations have been established in those countries.

Talking about OT. Just heard it today. One of my friend said that OTM in Dell is different. If you OT a lot, meaning your job performance is not good! So in order to have a better job performance (meaning better increment and etc), you shouldn't have OT a lot! This doesn't make a good sense! sweat.gif
