You struck a chord there with me as far as going cheaper cause I've been browsing through for those particular models as well...
xt10, xe2, and thinking about pancake 27mm and probably some small manual focus lenses just for fun shooting around without lugging too much around.
these models are going for very little (well, except the 27mm pancake, the price doesn't seem to drop by a lot).. only thing is the condition of the items
In the end, good photography is comes from the photographer not the gears. The xe2 and xt10 are definitely more than capable. And manual focus lens can definitely do more than "for fun shooting". I have used them for paid shoots.
My advice to you for the cheapest combo is the following:
Xt10 and xe2 are great cameras. At 16mp, image quality is fine. What is lacking however is low energy bluetooth which helps a lot in camera to phone connection. If those two are not major factors, go for it. The xt10 and xe2 should not be more than 300 usd equivalent.
For pancake, the 18mm and 27mm are great. However, both hunts sometimes when auto focusing. Not ideal if you are shooting wide open street photography. The 27mm is expensive and not worth the price.
There are manual focus lens options that deliver better image quality for cheaper. I recommend:
Meike 28mm and meike 35mm, which are cheap and have a good balance between character and image quality. And they are very small.
If you want manual focus with max image quality and character, the rokinons/ samyang are amazing, but their price used are around the same as fuji's f2 small lenses.
Fuji's f2 small lenses used are good for street photography, but suffer horribly from aspherical aberrations. Means shooting close up shots will net u horribly soft images. Their corner sharpness are also eh. They are still decent lenses, but because of these, never pay full price for them. Get them used.
I am currently testing and using the viltrox 23mm f1.4 autofocus lens. And its price to quality ratio is pretty good. There is some vignetting, may not be suitable for all situations shooting jpeg. If u do landscapes more, i recommend the 21mm rokinon over this, as they are around the same price rokinon 21mm used = viltrox 23mm brand new
