Sirui carbon fiber tripod. I have one and totally value for money. biggrin.gif A good tripod will last you forever. laugh.gif

My sirui CF tripod broke where the CF rod connects to the legs area.

Replaced it with a manfrotto CF travel tripod used from e bay. Really awesome and sturdy. I also noticed that while there are many CF tripod, a lot depends on the other non CF parts as well to see how light and sturdy it is in the end

Thanks, not too familiar with camera resale value, but would a 2 year old xt20 be sold for around 2k??

1.7k-1.8k is quite hard to get for a used xt20 body only as most of them are selling around 1.9-2k+
*
If you are interested, i should be able to get a used xt20 for you around 1.6k, but i will be back in malaysia only on the 3rd week of Jan.

any one use the conversion lens - Wide Conversion Lens WCL-X100II on X100 series camera ?any feedback?

You would be better off served with an xpro 2 and an 18mm f2. A very underrated lens. Not sure which x100 you have.

Did a photoshoot recently with the xpro2 and 21mm rokinon and 35mm mitakon. My first paid shoot actually, looking to turn my hobby into a side gig.

Have to say, i love manual focusing (i sold and no longer use any fuji lenses, except a cheap long 50-230 zoom for landscape) with the xpro line. Manual focusing with all the dials and pseudo rangefinder really gives the joy of photography back. I tried going into the a7r3, and resold that camera, its too.... easy.... to take a picture. If all you care about is the result, then sure. Images below processed using my own presets on top of provia. Bought an xpro 3, should be arriving tomorrow.

im using X100s .

biggrin.gif

got you. consider the cost of the wide lens, vs selling your x100s and getting an xpro 1 with an 18mm if the 18mm is what you love more. Its smaller, and potentially cheaper if you can get a good deal. If that is not an option, then yea, the wide lens is a good lens, it just makes your x100s larger than it would have needed to be

Slow and gentle huh? I'm the total opposite, I do run and gun around a lot and sometimes I do really missed a lot of shots and especially in low light with my really dated X-T1. But the colors and details, I'm having a hard time to move to another system for speed.
*
Manual focusing is not that slow, if u switch to evf and use focus peaking. Its actually very fast, like i can easily track a 2 year old running around at f0.95. You should try it. I dont use face autofocus because sometimes it just does not lock or locks on to the wrong face. Quickly turning the manual focus ring lets me immediately see where in the entire image is peaking and snap the photo. Its way faster than spot focusing in the centre and recomposing.

The catch is u gotta try this with a manual lens, because fuji's fly by wire manual focusing is garbage.

Any solution? Thanks in advance 😊

Anyone owns a X-Pro3? How’s your experience dealing with the hidden screen?

Thinking to get one for some casual travel/street photography.
*
The hidden screen makes the camera look nice. And thats about it. It is the only rangefinder style fuji camera at the moment that can change lens and shoot from the hip. More importantly be aware that there are no framelines wider than 23mm in ovf

use indoor studio shooting, planning xt20 or xt200? still not get a chance to hold the body yet
*
if you are doing indoor studio shooting where you are mostly shooting people, i'd go with a used XT20, its really cheap and u get most of the amazing film simulations. why spend more money when you don't need to.

wta, which software you guys use to convert RAW/RAF to be supported by editing software such as Affinity Photo?

from what i google -
Iridient X-Transformer:
Affinity Photo Desktop:
Capture One 12 Express

Just gotten my x30 with 23mmf2 this morning. 1st thing i notice is "missing" hot shoe  laugh.gif
2nd thing i notice - damn this is so freaking tiny and lightweight
3rd thing - finding RAW converter now. im using Affinity Photo but from this vid, it seems the worse and the CP1 is the best of it.

so, i gotta convert the RAW from CP1 - export it and use it in AP/LR for editing <- correcto?

I use Iridient X Transformer myself. Am happy with it.

just asking u guys for some opinion
do u think selling my xt2 and 'upgrade' to XH1 is a good idea?
Coming from m43(well, I still have my em5ii with me), I really miss IBIS every time i pick up my xt2.  Maybe spoilt by em5ii IBIS. dont get me wrong, i am realistic and do not expect fuji ibis to perform like an oly one.

Initially quite excited for xt4 when I first hear about the IBIS, but after reading and looking at some comparison over the net, the improvement of the IBIS from xh1 to xt4 is just small and doesn't worth the price diff and i prefer to save the money for more 1.4 lens (viltrox, ahem ahem)

I am happy with my XT2, I know AF wise no fight with the newer body, but XT2 AF is sufficient for me. Just miss the IBIS that could at least allow me to use my 35mm F1.4 @ in the region of 1/5 or 1/10 SS sad.gif
*
I have owned the XH1 before, and it is a great camera. However, i sold it and moved on because of the weight. You move to mirrorless to go small and lightweight, and the XH1 was heavier than many DSLR full frames.

I would keep the XT2, and shoot at higher ISOs. Don't be afraid of noise, I have shot at 6400 with no complaints from clients. It adds to the aesthetics of film.

import normally SHOP warranty - so only can send back to shop for repair.
Local warranty can send to local fuji MY/distro to repair.

correct me if im wrong.
*
You may want to check on that. Some shops wash their hands and basically say, you need to ship it back from country XX from where it came from yourself.

You can still ask Fuji Malaysia to fix it. But they will charge you for it.

AKA assume you have no warranty

Hi sifu sekalian, is used X-T2 good in 2020 now, if yes, what lens should I pair with it? Thank you..

Budget around rm4-5k.
*
If you are just shooting for fun, go with the XT10 instead, save some money. It has most of the film simulations you would commonly use except for across. You don't really need fast AF for what you are doing. However, if the extra 8 megapixels means a lot to you, then go for the XT20.

Get them used. If you want to go even cheaper, the XT100 or even the X-A7 is pretty decent.

If you want to save money on lenses, the manual focus lenses have amazing character and are significantly cheaper than fuji's.

The meike's are the cheap but good lenses, but i dont like the focus throw feel of those lenses.

For manual focus I use and recommend: Kamlan 28mm f1.4, Mitakon 35mm f0.95, Rokinon 21mm f1.4, Rokinon 12mm f2

For AF, the 18-55 f2.8-f4 is pretty good all rounder if you don't want to do primes. If u absolutely need AF, then save some money and go for the 23mm f1.4 viltrox, and the Fuji XC 35mm f2.

You struck a chord there with me as far as going cheaper cause I've been browsing through for those particular models as well...

xt10, xe2, and thinking about pancake 27mm and probably some small manual focus lenses just for fun shooting around without lugging too much around.

these models are going for very little (well, except the 27mm pancake, the price doesn't seem to drop by a lot).. only thing is the condition of the items
*
In the end, good photography is comes from the photographer not the gears. The xe2 and xt10 are definitely more than capable. And manual focus lens can definitely do more than "for fun shooting". I have used them for paid shoots.

My advice to you for the cheapest combo is the following:

Xt10 and xe2 are great cameras. At 16mp, image quality is fine. What is lacking however is low energy bluetooth which helps a lot in camera to phone connection. If those two are not major factors, go for it. The xt10 and xe2 should not be more than 300 usd equivalent.

For pancake, the 18mm and 27mm are great. However, both hunts sometimes when auto focusing. Not ideal if you are shooting wide open street photography. The 27mm is expensive and not worth the price.

There are manual focus lens options that deliver better image quality for cheaper. I recommend:

Meike 28mm and meike 35mm, which are cheap and have a good balance between character and image quality. And they are very small.

If you want manual focus with max image quality and character, the rokinons/ samyang are amazing, but their price used are around the same as fuji's f2 small lenses.

Fuji's f2 small lenses used are good for street photography, but suffer horribly from aspherical aberrations. Means shooting close up shots will net u horribly soft images. Their corner sharpness are also eh. They are still decent lenses, but because of these, never pay full price for them. Get them used.

I am currently testing and using the viltrox 23mm f1.4 autofocus lens. And its price to quality ratio is pretty good. There is some vignetting, may not be suitable for all situations shooting jpeg. If u do landscapes more, i recommend the 21mm rokinon over this, as they are around the same price rokinon 21mm used = viltrox 23mm brand new
