Tempted to get Viltrox 33mm f/1.4. biggrin.gif
*
I got the 23mm. The 23mm is pretty decent for the money! I am not sure about the 33mm. If i had to choose between the viltrox 33mm f1.4 vs fuji xc 35mm f2, i think i prefer the fuji. The dof is about the same, and the fuji is cheaper.

For 35mm im sticking to my custom Mitakon 35mm (i managed to buy it from yukosteel, he customed the mitakon to have aperture ckicks)

You struck a chord there with me as far as going cheaper cause I've been browsing through for those particular models as well...

xt10, xe2, and thinking about pancake 27mm and probably some small manual focus lenses just for fun shooting around without lugging too much around.

these models are going for very little (well, except the 27mm pancake, the price doesn't seem to drop by a lot).. only thing is the condition of the items

What are the prices in malaysia?

Cool. I already have Fuji 23mm f/1.4 and don't have 33-35mm range yet. Is Fuji 35mm f/2 cheaper? This Viltrox is about 1.1k.
*
the Fuji XC 35mm f2, not the WR version, is cheaper for sure. I would recommend that over the Viltrox.

Viltrox 33 f1.4 = 279USD brand new
Fujifilm XC 35mm f2 = 199USD brand new.
the 2mm extra reach of the Fujifilm semi negates the extra DOF of the 1.4 vs f2. That is the reason why i recommend XC35mm f2 over viltrox.

I recommend mitakon over everything though XD

I am torn between keeping the 23mm viltrox or returning it and stick with the 21mm rokinon right now.

I think the Meikes go for between RM200-RM500 (USD40-USD70) depending on which one.
The X-E2 units I see online for used ones go for <RM1200 (<USD280) but probably can be negotiated and not so sure about the item's condition.

I'm like thissssssssssssssssssss close to pulling the trigger. Those manual focus fast primes sure are enticing
*
Second hand market for fuji bodies in malaysia are on the high side relatively.
I have been able to catch xt20s for 300usd-350usd.

What about xt100? I would personally go for xt100 vs an xe2 for the bluetooth and tilty screen. But xe2 would have those nice dials.

Start with 1 meike. See if you like shooting manual focus. That would be my advice.

PS: consider kamlan they are amazingly built and just a bit more expensive than meike. They are solid metal so heavier but built to last longer than meike for sure.

Good advice on getting one manual focus lens first. Probably would drop some cash on the f1.7 since that's real cheap.

The xt100's go for slightly more. Of course, just based on my menial online searching

The kamlan's look a lil bit on the 'big' side which is what I don't want. Size would be quite a big factor for me getting a 2nd body which I intend to bring everywhere even when I don't intend to take photos..... And end up doing so.
*
Yes the kamlan have some definite heft to it. The meike are very light. Awhich focal length are you getting? I have tested and used the 35 and 28 before.

You embedded it wrongly.

Anyway, I'm pretty convinced with this XC 35mm. See if I can get something on Double 7 sales.
*
Nice let me know how that goes. I think its the only lens from fuji i havent actually tested. But every reviewer says it functions just like the 35mm f2 wr it sounds good for the price!

Btw, if this is not your first fuji body, you can consider the xa5. I bought an xa5 with 15-45 for 280usd. I have the 15-45 now up for sale on e bay for 199. Basically got a spare fuji body for 100 usd. (This is for my wife to play around while i am on my xpro 3 lol)

@Baronic @Dark_Angel85

As someone who owned the XT10 and am using the XT30, I think the performance difference from the XT10 to XT20/ XT30 is too big especially on the speed/ auto focus. The lowest I would go is the XT20.

@fruitie

I went with the XF35mmf2 instead of the XC35mmf2 due to the build quality and WR. I totally love the lens and mainly kept it on the body most of the time now. I personally felt if you are using a XT3/ XT4, then the XF just go so well with the body (WR). Plus better resale value as well in case XF35mmf1.4 mk2 do come out
*
There is a performance jump. But does not really mean the xt10 or xt1 weren't good. I mean, people were making great photos on film and manual focus. Is AF faster? Yes. But you work with your limitations.

I don't even use AF lenses when i do paid work =/ manual focus only (so far, based on my fav lens of choice).

I'd prob go for the 35mm. no hard and fast decision yet. Not too rushed cause it's just an afterthought
it's gonna be my first Fuji. Been reading and watching tonnes of X-E2 vs X-E3 and the likes for a while now.

love the form factor of the small fujis thus browsing around for these models... not completely averse to the XA models, but would prefer a viewfinder for the price.

Thanks for the sharing man

Don't forget the fuji xe2s. Its basically a slightly upgraded xe2s, but if u can get it at the same price as xe2, why not

I think I will still prefer wider angle lens. So far 18mm and 23mm are my favorites.
*
Wife prefers 18mm because full body shots make her look skinnier. Im more partial to 23mm. So we compromised and i got the 21mm rokinon lol. (Although now i DO have the 18mm after all, got it for a good price).

QUOTE(Haw92 @ Jul 3 2020, 09:50 AM)
Hi there, Just to get some feedback in regards to the 3 lens below for my next purchase to go with my XT20.
1. Fujifilm XF 35MM F1.4
2. Fujifilm XF 35MM F2
3. Viltrox 33MM F.14

I am currently using the Fujifilm 23MM F1.4 and personally really like the photo it produce but I would like to get stronger bokeh effect for my portrait.
Just to check will be it okay to go with Viltrox 33MM F1.4 instead of Fujifilm 35MM F1.4.

Reading through earlier post saw that Viltrox 33mm F1.4 Bokeh almost similar to the Fujifilm F2 lens make me having second thought.
Just wonder if anyone have done side by side comparison on how the bokeh rendering between Viltrox and Fuji?
It is so tough to find lens rendering comparison as the lens is quite new and most Fuji folks are running the 35mm 1.4 instead. sweat.gif
*
I have used them both and they are quite similar in depth of field. I will be returning my 33mm viltrox.

You should consider the mitakon 35mm f0.95. Its my fav lens and one i use 70% of the time. But its heavy

It is hard to explain that as well, but another point would be having extra stop of light when i am taking at low light area.
the 23mm F1.4 that i have does help it compare to the 18-55 that i have.
I rather spend more for at one purchase rather than getting another lens at later date.
The mitakon f0.95 look good but combination of no autofocus and it weight does put me off.
Any particular reason on returning the 33mm?
Just wonder as the 33mm is one of my choice, the autofocus and fast focusing speed with the F1.4 look good with the current pricing for brand new.
*
Returning it because of my mitakon. It renders images beautifully. And yes although it is heavy, the way it renders the image makes it absolutely worth keeping.. manual focus has never turned me off. Use peaking, and i have shot running kids with zero problems at f 0.95

Get what suits you. If you like the 33mm get it. The AF is fast. I may get it back again one day for fun as well, when i am lazy to hold my camera with two hands. Im also in a position where i paid a premium for my custom mitakon so thats another reason why i decided not to get the 33mm.

where r u viltrox 56mm?
we need u now

As long as u use with evf they appear great.

Looks like they reverse engineered from a fuji 23mm cuz all their framelines in evf is 23mm regardless of their focal length (confirmed on 33mm)
