Decided to get Fujifilm XT-1 for my upcoming NZ working holiday woohoo!

Should I just get a body, and buy lens separately? What kinda lens do you guys recommend? I like to take sceneries, food, flatlays (Been abandoning my EPL-1 and using my iPhones all the while).
*
You definitely need an Ultra Wide Angle for sceneries shots. I love my 18mm f/2 for food shots as the MFD is very short.

I have Samyang 12mm f/2, cheap and nice though it's a MF lens but suits for landscape shots which you can take your own sweet time. laugh.gif

My 23mm f/1.4 is for normal portrait and street shots. biggrin.gif

Also this was the cheapest body I could find in Lazada: http://www.lazada.com.my/fujifilm-x-t1-bod...ck-1801869.html <- Should I get it?

Have you used a 23mm before? It's a really good lens for it's image quality. But the kit lens is cheaper and more versatile. The camera with the kit lens itself produces already great colors with it. smile.gif

23mm is really good for street. I like this lens because it's so sharp at wide open and bokeh is nice. biggrin.gif I use it a lot when I take people shots during travels. biggrin.gif If I want to take scenery shots, I will switch to my wider angle lenses. biggrin.gif

Yes, I'm also a X-T1 user, been using it since it was launched, never regret at all until today. rclxms.gif

Oh I love the 23mm. I once had to think twice about going for a 23mm with X-T1 after retiring my X100 because I thought the experience would be the same. But noooooooooo the results were seriously so good it destroys the X100 laugh.gif

Yes. 18-55mm is the prime lens. Some people need the wide angle for convenience. I restrict myself to a prime lens and get around with the focal length.
Got mine in Japan. But I guess you can ask Fruitie for recommendations.

18-55mm is not a prime lens... Prime lenses are with fixed focal length.

Good day fellow experienced photographers and Fujifilm users. I would like get some of your opinions. I am new to photography(still using my Samsung Note 3 to take pictures now) and would like to purchase a camera for photo taking and also video shooting(university assignment use only I guess). I did some research on both mirrorless and DSLR's and ended up with the internet suggesting to get either the Fuji xt10(mirrorless) or Nikon d5300/5500(dslr). So here are my doubts with each camera. (I am leaning more to towards the Fuji xt10)

1. I read somewhere that says mirrorless cameras are easier to use than dslr's for those who are new to this?
2. The Fuji xt10 has a tilting screen as compared to the nikon which has a various angled screen( which I prefer over the xt10's tilting screen)
3. Are batteries expensive? I wouldn't mind lugging around a few more batteries as I read the battery life of a mirrorless is half of a dslr
4. Should I wait for xt10's successor to be released as the screen might be various angled instead of tilting only cause I'm not really in a rush to get a camera yet(I can wait till around Apr-May 2017 ish).
5. The design of the silver xt10 >>> almost all of the mirrorless and dslrs I've seen and would it attract too much attention?
6. Should I buy those camera sets with lens included or should I get them seperately? Also what type of lens is suitable if I really do get the xt10 or it's successor?

1. They're the same to me. Just that in Fuji's case, looking in the viewfinder allows you to see the actual exposure of the photo.
2. It's your preferences.
3. They're quite expensive for RM265 based in Shashinki. X-T10 Battery
4. There aren't much of a difference between each generation, unless you're quite sensitive to the sensor's performance. I didn't regret buying the X-T1 when the X-T2 was announced.
5. Fujifilm X cameras already attract quite attention from any photographers tongue.gif But yeah, silver ones are more attractive
6. It depends on your budget on the lens. Fujinon lenses are quite pricey but are really well worth the prices. Personally, I am using a 23mm f1.4

The warranty says local 1 year... if you click more info then it days covered by seller and not the manufacturer.... in this case could this be import set? That is my concern....

1.the reason is easier is because is the EVF....it will be what you see is what you get, unless u turn it off.....
2. i think u referring to d5500 those screen, is actually personal preference, so far fuji only have this type tilt screen
3. although is not good, u can carry oem batteries but on ur own cost lo....but so far, not much issue
4. due to the yen currency is very high, i worry on the price only, is all depends on u..
5. i unsure the attention is what, but when u talk about safety, is better that don't carry in dark alley, but if u meant for street shoot, ppl will think u carry film camera..
6. fuji kit lens it top notch, but if possible get that and also pwp promo...it save some money
