Hi guys, been a fuji user starting from May this year with the x100t biggrin.gif , love the noise performance and the colours. Bought it as a companion for my Sony A7ii camera and as a travel camera and later switching fully to fuji with xpro 2 icon_rolleyes.gif . Back to the question that someone ask here, why fuji and not sony, if u hav handle sony camera before u will know that it is slow to startup from Off to On state. My x100t takes 2-3sec but the a7ii took 3-5 second to get ready sweat.gif and sometime longer (Xpro2 from 1-3sec) . For some it is bearable but for me it dampens my eagerness to take picture.

To me the sony camera has very loud shutter sound and it bothers me when taking pic in quiet environment, the fuji xpro 2 has lower shutter noise and dont need to talk about x100t its an angel in the shutter sound department rclxms.gif . If u compare the a7 series and the a6000 shutter its almost the same, its loud.

I was a canon user, canon 50d to be precise. Was using it for 5 years with 50mm 1.8 taking event photos. It show its age when in the 5th year, I know I need a new camera when I went to Japan and it cant focus on the subject anymore laugh.gif . I was choosing between Sony, Olympus and Fuji camera. This time I need to hav video functionality so I opted between Sony and Olympus as fuji at the time wasnt known for their video capabiliities. The sony wins with the 5 axis stabilization and having the headphone jack without the need of extra battery grip attached (Oly EM5ii). The video department is a bliss but then I realize the shooting experience is something left to be desire. The menu is hard to navigate and been using it for a year and still couldnt remember where the setting for certain thing sweat.gif . Couple with startup time and shutter sound, new system was on the mind tongue.gif .

When talk about FF and aps-c, I found that FF recovers over expose highlight area better but the main reason I wouldnt mind aps-c over FF is the noise performance. When comparing sony a7 and fuji x100t noise, it is almost the same at ISO6400. Then it clicked to me that the reason I want to go for FF is the noise performance. If the noise is comparable why would I ignored the aps-c system (Mind u that I dont use ISO more than 6400). Yes I know the sony a7rii has better noise performance, but the price left something to be desired and the it doesnt even improve in the card write speed and startup time rclxub.gif. One last thing is the lenses price I didnt consider after switch to sony, its unbearble with our currency not improving and GST some more laugh.gif

Note:
- Fuji film simulation is a nice addition compared to other manufacturer filters.
- I tend to edit pic less with sony than fuji becaude sony measure the exposure correctly most of the time,
Fuji tends to overexpose or underexpose but the in-camera raw editor is saviour for this situation thumbup.gif The xpro2 improved in this department compared with x100t

question on x70...
leaf shutter max is 1/4000
electronic shutters max is 1/32000

if i wanna take pic at f2.8 with iso200 in hot sunny days, electronic shutters will help me, is it ? or limit at 1/4000 ?
*
Yeah it should help, just dont take pic of someone running while using electronic shutter biggrin.gif

If XT-2 came with fully articulated touchscreen, I'd be very tempted to switch. But at the moment, quite heavily invested in E mount. So, I can only hope and dream Sony will released a6300 successor with that. If XT-3 comes with a touchscreen, I might consider the jump  icon_idea.gif

By the way, seems like you don't use telephoto much. If that is the case, I think your collection should be quite complete.....or perhaps a fisheye....but then again, not available in X mount.... shakehead.gif
*
Come2 join Fuji side, I already sold my Sony equipment tongue.gif. Almost bought a6300 to complement my a7ii but decided to go for fuji x100t before I went for europe trip. I challenge myself to bring x100t only and wasn't disappointed. Since then I was hooked towards Fuji side whistling.gif

I'm not a fan of fisheye. laugh.gif Probably will get another prime like 56mm or something. tongue.gif

You wont be disappointed with the 56mm thumbup.gif
I'm fully committed towards prime lens. I didnt even used my kit zooms on my Sony a7ii last time, felt wasted buying along it sweat.gif

That is true until you need that longer reach, fuji currently have no prime longer than 90mm. I'm eyeing 90mm f2, that extra compressions should make a nice potrait nod.gif

QUOTE(barteria @ Sep 30 2016, 03:19 PM)
Agreed on 56mm. Tho its AF sometimes hunt (slightly better on X-T2), but you can always switch to MF worst case scenario which is not that often at least for me. The f1.2 wide open produces beautiful bokeh and really helpful at lowlight places! thumbup.gif
*
Step the aperture down to f2 and the AF improve, it hunt more at f1.2 although that seems the case for xpro-2, on xt-2 it improve the AF, waiting for xpro-2 firmware update rclxm9.gif

QUOTE(theng168 @ Sep 30 2016, 03:24 PM)
checking-in... do you guys use flash with your fuji? hmm.gif

For now nope, using prime lens and know where to get the subject light up properly is enough for me. Although later might go for Nissin i60 and hoping that the air commander is announced for fuji system as well brows.gif

35mm & 56mm which would you guys recommend for ? tongue.gif

if u already had wider lens, go for 56mm, u wont be dissapoint. I used 23mm for street shooting. When I use 35, it bothers me that it wasnt that wide or narrow, better have 23mm and 56mm as a pair. Thats my opinion biggrin.gif

I personally use X100 for 23mm focal, paired the 35mm f2 with my X-M1 (it's fast even on that body) and  paired 56mm on my X-T2. I just grab one of those cameras/pairs depending on the place/situation I'm going to shoot.

I have my XC 16-55 kit lens in case I need wider shot, but most of the time it sits in my bag.
*
The only time I bring 2 camera is when I take photos for event, I try to limit bringing to many gear, because not all is needed, I would aim for 14mm/12mm + 23mm + 56mm or 16mm + 35mm + 90mm setup. If I wanted to challenge myself, just bring the x100t only. smile.gif

QUOTE(fruitie @ Sep 30 2016, 04:02 PM)

Anyway, is Peak Design Leash a good buy? I heartache to spend so much on strap. sweat.gif

Do take note that the small hook provided with the leash for attaching to ur camera is an old version. Buy the new version as the old one tends to break after used extensively doh.gif

I know, as I said, I was just exaggersting because i thought it was fruitie who said so....I find it quite true with the fuji x100s AF....hunt quite a bit and quite slow. So hard to get sharp focus while hunting for kids running around.  rclxub.gif Other than that, the ooc jpeg is superb, especially with the 23mm f2 lens.
*
My x100t also hunt sometime but when its lowlight situation, I prefer to use the manual focus, suprisingly I focus faster that way icon_idea.gif

fruitie// What is the advantage of the X70 over the X100T if you don't mind me asking? Are they not both fixed lens?  Ahahahaha! I agree that interchangeable cameras are so much lighter compared to DSLRs, I cannot imagine myself lugging those monstrosities around. I tried  holding my friend's Canon DSLR once, snap decision right then and there, NO DSLRs for me

kelvinling// But aren't the XF line better performers than the XC? I am planning to stick to one lens if I buy the XT10, which is why I wonder if the 18-55 kit lens will be much diff from the fixed lens of the X100T/X70?  I do think it's a hassle to change lens too tbh  For Mt Fuji, say how about I want a shot of the entire mountain with lake..so I will be standing across the lake. And my budget is 4k and below

woonsc// Ahahahaha! The XT2 is expensive! No budget. I'm currently using a MacAir and already very satisfied with it!

kenary820// X100 or X100T? I thought it has in built flash?  I have considered a tripod stand for solo travels, but wouldn't it be in the way of others when I set it up?
*
For 1st question, the x70 is smaller than the x100t due to lack of viewfinder for the x70 but it had swivel screen that can flip up for taking selfie (*Call it whatever u want whistling.gif ) which the x100t had a fixed screen sweat.gif. The x70 have a 18.5mm fixed lens while the x100t have 23mm (28mm & 35mm in term of full frame lens equivalent), it a tad wider that some prefer than the other. What interest me for the x70 is the conversion lens u are able to buy for the x70 which change the lens perspective to 21mm in full frame format drool.gif , which is good for wide angle shot (**The x100t has conversion lens that equivalent to 28mm and 50mm).

2nd question, not sure about the difference between XC and XF lens, but I tried it at the shop and the quality of pic using XC lens is good, nothing to complain about hmm.gif . Lens wise, I can get macro shot as near as 10cm from the subject with x100t, I'm pretty sure the kit lens cant do that tongue.gif (Correct me if I'm wrong biggrin.gif ). I don't know how far is mount fuji and the lake, but the best bet for wide angle shot is the x70 and the conversion lens but that will exceed ur budget I guess(**Need clarification on this, does x70 plus conversion lens goes beyond RM4k)

Yes x100t has flash built in, might not be strong enough, but can try bounce the flash using small mirror if u are indoor to get that external flash look laugh.gif. I bring tripod in the luggage bag for trip but never got it out cause it a hassle to bring big tripod around while u are touring sweat.gif (PS: I do bring my joby gorilapod tripod in my bag cause its smaller that my regular sturdy tripod icon_idea.gif )

How to do this ?

Use pocket mirror but as I said the flash is not that powerfull sweat.gif This can be tried if the ceiling is not that high, I did it with my Canon 50D built in flash but its cumbersome laugh.gif .

QUOTE(sysy94 @ Oct 2 2016, 04:39 PM)
Thanks for all that information! I did some read up on the X70 too and I really liked the aspect of the cropping to 35mm and 50mm implemented! I think I have narrowed it down to X70, it really seems to fit all my needs! But I do have a few more questions...  sweat.gif
1. which produces better bokeh?
2. how big is the conversion lens? I think I've read somewhere that the lenses are big and heavy? Which defeats the purpose of the small & portable X70...
3. what about the touchscreen? or would a viewfinder still be better?
*
1. If u talk about x100t and x70 of course the x100t produce more depth of field due to one run at aperture f2.0 vs f2.8

2.Its a bit bigger than fujinon 35mm f2 I think ohmy.gif. Yes it a bit heavy but you wont be taking wide angle shot that often right? So tuck it in ur small bag and u are good to go. thumbup.gif

3. It depends on your usage, sometime the viewfinder is useful if u want to save battery life or if the glare from the sun is to much but if u like to take photo from hip or low angle then the swivel screen is much better thumbsup.gif

I used to have this problem when I was using 3rd party flash in the early days of Canon. It was due to battery refresh cycle issue... blush.gif
Then switched my batteries to Eneloop which have better refresh cycle and 580EXII, everything was solved.
That said I have no issue with continuous shooting with my 3rd party flash on X-T1 though. laugh.gif
Oh, I was about to comment regarding flash cycle, my bad in jumping to conclusion based on my finding

XF 35mm f/2  or XF 35mm f/1.4?

I'm really tempted to start my Fujifilm journey X-T10 with either of these prime (and maybe another wider prime in the pipeline)

Or any other recommendation sifus?
*
The only reason to go for 50mm equivalent lens is because its cheaper than other lens on Canon or Nikon (True in Fuji world also laugh.gif )
I opt for 50mm on my A7 last time and regret it cause it wasn't the focal length that I really want.

Try to ues the 23mm and 35mm before buying.

The 23mm f2 should already come out right? On shashinki.com the price around RM2000+.

Bro Kelvinling got any info?

Wasn't the battery percentage also available on the info screen at the Lcd? They only wont show the percentage during live view session either on the evf or Lcd screen laugh.gif but yeah the percentage only available for new camera, it was not present in x100t which is hard to predict how much battery is left out sweat.gif

QUOTE(barteria @ Oct 5 2016, 11:09 AM)
but sometimes I wonder, does the extras Fujifilm give for X-T2 like USB3 (charging in body to PC/laptop or any legit USB charger), articulating screen, dual UHS-II, better heat sink (for 4K), free 32gb UHS-II SDHC memory card, all of those combined really costs less than the HVF? I mean, the free memory card alone costs a bomb if buy separately...
*
The price they quote before release was RM7.6k for body only for XT-2 but after the release the price is cheaper than XPro-2 hmm.gif . If it weren't for that quoted price, I would have take a leap for Pre Order the XT2 laugh.gif
But then again when I tested the XT-2, I wished the playback & delete button is nearer to the right hand as is better for one hand operation just like the XPro-2 (I know we can set one of the function button for playback but we will lose one function button sweat.gif ).

They remove the record movie button but the placement of the Function button in between the shutter speed and exposure compensation dial could be shift next to shutter button for easier use. I cant easily reach the function button when it is cover between those big dials laugh.gif

But yeah, the price of the XPro-2 could be lesser or the same as XT-2, I cant justify why I would choose the XPro-2 instead of XT-2 with just the present of HVF and more pixel LCD back screen.
(PS: I used more of the LCD screen than the HVF for my last shooting because I took more pic on the ground and the XT-2 swivel screen would be super useful in those situation)

My personal reason why I love the RF form factor only because it's more stealthy, esp. for candid and street shooting. Again, it's my personal view. Some ppl are intimidated regardless what kind of camera pointed to them but IMO RF cameras won't catch as much attention as SLR form factor does.
