QUOTE(gchowyh @ Oct 7 2016, 12:07 PM) I just got an insider news from him that 16 October onwards there will be a GIA promotion of 4.1% for 12 months. thanks for sharing, but i got maturity coming up 13th, so 3 days sits in saving account for your extra 0.1% not sure worth it.. or should i go ahead for RHB 4% settled.Anyone can verify this? |

Quick question: can "RHB Bank Sales Centre" with operating hour 10.00a.m. - 10.00p.m. (Mon - Sun), able to perform FD operation during weekends?
Edit: FD cannot do on weekends, sucks. RHB Customer service sucks. This post has been edited by lowya: Oct 8 2016, 10:35 AM |

anyway ditch RHB promo since their service still sucks.
Might go for HLB instead since same 4%. Any opinion please share. This post has been edited by lowya: Oct 8 2016, 10:34 AM |

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Oct 9 2016, 11:33 AM) they sucks not because of FD can't do on weekend banking, last year inside bank ask them question, they dare to tell you to use phone to call hq instead for answer, i mean what are they paid for there? Call hotline and get transferred here and there and no answer given. Walk off furiously after make withdrawal. Told myself that was the last time doing business with them. This year thought maybe improved, so call their hotline to ask general question, they cannot reply, so transfer to other branch and no one answer, do that few times gave up. RHB really not up the banking standard, in both their HR and CS policy. This time give me 4% also i better choose HLB or other banks instead. |

Update:
1. HLB 4% need 2 extra product to be eligible, so it's not pure FD. 2. RHB 12m quota finished 3. end up with Maybank 4mths 3.6%, and expecting better promo in next few months.. also just realized that the FD cert printed by Maybank did not have the word "Fixed Deposit" to clearly state the type of document it prints. Funny how our biggest bank print a receipt that doesn't state clearly what document it is. Look at your Maybank FD cert and you will be shocked. Don't ask me why it took me so long to noticed it. |

QUOTE(gchowyh @ Oct 10 2016, 03:19 PM) If you place online in Maybank's GIA account at 1 month 3.6% p.a, then wait till 15 or 16th to see if the 4.1% 12 months GIA is really true or not. That way, you are still earning interest till that date at 3.6% p.a. GIA has 2 types, one is Campaign (promo), the other is normal.I will report back when the time comes as I am looking for a new promo by the 26 Oct when my last year's GIA account matures. Currently Maybank Conventional 4 months has 3.6%, all else GIA has lower rate. Where do you get the 4.1%? source? Please note: GIA Campaign (remember the one with step up rates?) will not be affected by OPR change during the FD term, whereas GIA normal will be affected by OPR change (means rate after opr drop will adjust downward). This, even the staff don't know, that accounts to some error in the past someone mentioned here before. This post has been edited by lowya: Oct 10 2016, 03:44 PM |

QUOTE(gchowyh @ Oct 10 2016, 03:53 PM) Ok, I have been silently reading here on the changes of the GIA normal monthly rates, it does fluctuate even without the change in OPR. i wasn't referring the GIA normal rate fluctuation, i know it goes up and down.. but i think you didn't get my point, i was trying to say, example:lets say last year you placed GIA (Campaign Promo) for 12 months at 4.5% rate, you should still be getting 4.5% nett p.a. this year during maturity, even though the OPR was reduced drastically recently. the same does NOT apply to GIA (normal aka non-promo). Hope that is clear. |

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Oct 14 2016, 07:05 PM) Not a wise move. Removing an existing FD for this FD. You will get less than that at the end of the day. Effective rate only 4.1%. See below. i might do just that cause few days ago got in 3.6% 4months, going for 4.1% 12months, should be not a bad idea?Btw, which bank support FPX transfer? How much does FPX transfer cost? Still good when other bank rates are at <=4% This post has been edited by lowya: Oct 14 2016, 08:27 PM |
