I asked for a bankers check for my matured FD but the RM countered offered me with this 4%pa deal. So have to say sorry to RHB. blush.gif

She said the offer is until Oct 31 only, but I did not ask her what's the min amount.
*
Ya, I think better go for the rate instead of RHB's PB member get member campaign. For me I have met the requirement just need to apply and recommend family members to enjoy the RM388. biggrin.gif

The alliance bank PB service is not bad. Everything is done within 10 mins. Also my previous FD matured on Saturday and she paid me the weekend interest. Additional money for me to buy kfc for my family today. thumbsup.gif

Bro also Alliance Bank PB. thumbsup.gif

I have nothing there for quite some years, really miss their cash rebates on their debit card ! biggrin.gif

GIA-i is not an ordinary "investment"

GIA-i is a islamic banking version of deposit that similar to conventional FD.

Islamic banking concept is profit sharing and non-guaranteed.
That's why in islamic deposit, interest rate term is not used, but profit sharing.
While islamic banking itself doesn't have guaranteed feature, and that's why it is not PIDM guaranteed.
*
I sometimes intentionally go for Islamic FD if both Conventional/Islamic FD promo is available in the same bank. Islamic FD has separate PIDM coverage:

"All types of depositors, whether businesses or individuals, are protected. The maximum limit of coverage is RM250,000 per depositor per member bank. This includes both the principal amount of a deposit and the interest/return. With the RM250,000 limit, 99% of depositors are protected in full. The Malaysian Deposit Insurance System provides separate coverage for conventional and Islamic deposits."

Totally Agreed. IMHO I would say the maybank GIA is 99.9% safe. But you never know when a crisis going to strike.  The million dollar question is whether you would take that 0.1% risk to get that 0.1% gain in interest with GIA?
*
I have mentioned before that I will still go for UOB's 3.95% instead of MBB's 4.1%. Just to be on the safe side. Now it seems UOB can ask for 4% and MBB's 4.1% met quota. So in early Nov, will ask UOB RM for 4% if still available. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(ikanbilis @ Oct 24 2016, 04:04 PM)
0.1% gain is not significant. But I like the flexibility of Maybank GIA. If You deposit today and after some time you need money and withdraw they will give you interest based on the number of days. This is great.
*
I think for smaller sum can still put in the MBB GIA-i 12 mth if available next month. But I won't put large sum (6 figure) in there. biggrin.gif

4.1% must locked in for a year and cannot withdraw less than year right?
*
You placing FD ? I thought no more for u since u are going to feed the kangaroo's soon !

The MBB GIA-i 12 mth 4.1% no more leow. I thought u should be more interested in short term rather than 1 year type of placement ? hmm.gif

I was just asking.. since im curious about how 4.1% works for GIA.. cause last time i thought it had been reduced to 3.xx ?
*
Oh, you have missed the GIA-i last year's promo with 4.5% 12 mth. They are step-up type with eff rate of 4.1% for the one that just ended. Unlike the fixed one with recent rate of 3.6%.

So basically the difference is in the fixed and step-up rate for 12 mth promo. biggrin.gif

Glad to hear they have re-open to accommodate gud response
*
But with good response, the new promo rate maybe lower. biggrin.gif

Unless the rate is better than 4.1% which may be able to lure me, my plan next week is still going for 4% or more if available for Nov FD promo. biggrin.gif

I have just placed with BR @ 3.95% tis week
Hope BR revise rates upward in Nov
*
I am looking at UOB or Alliance for 4% next week. UOB have to ask RM for 4% based on info from one forummer. But may settle for 3.95% the worst comes to worst.

Not sure Nov FD promo rate will be same or ???? hmm.gif hmm.gif

It will be interesting to see the FD promo for Nov. Whether it will still be 3.95%, 4% or whatever. In view of the expected cut in OPR in Nov. I have actions this week and next week, now planning how to tackle them.

Lets see tomorrow. biggrin.gif

Bro ahead of me this time ! notworthy.gif thumbup.gif

I have not called to enquire for Nov. Thanks for info.

Have FD mature in CIMB, depending on what CIMB can give, may move to UOB.

For OCBC, have FD mature on 5/11, Sat. So going to ask for the 2 days interest on next Monday. One tip is that to claim the OCBC interest over non working days, your FD has to be auto renewal. If it is all go to CASA, then u cannot claim the "lost" interest.

I hope OCBC can give the same rate for matured FD, if not, will move to new home in UOB. biggrin.gif

Din realize i left out the most important info which you are correct. Its UOB
*
Yes, I read weeks + ago that one forummer got 4% from UOB. Likely to be u I think. So I did mention here that I will try to ask my UOB RM for the 4%.

Thanks for the confirmation and the info ! thumbup.gif

PS, please let us know if u are successful to get the 4% tomorrow. My fund will only be available either Thursday or next Monday, 2 sources. biggrin.gif

Today went to AmBank. Changed True acct to link to BSA to avoid the yearly charge.

The manager showed me their current FD promo. 6 mth 3.7%, 9 mth 3.80%, min 50k. Their rate not that exciting as compared to other banks.

They have a clause for 375k to 499k, can get add'l 0.05%. For 500k upwards, can get add'l 0.1%. For 6 mths FD.

Anyway just to share info for AmBank loyal customers. biggrin.gif

Due to overwhelming response, they decided to extend the 12 month quota today, that's what I was told by their customer service.
It has always been 4.1% since it was first launched, no?
*
Last year around Oct 2015, it was eff rate 4.5%. This time 4.1%.

*
Did u receive email from AmBank on the charges for True debit card starting Nov ? Look closely at the email. It has the clause that if True acct is linked to BSA, then no annual charges.

I actually have to fwd that email to AmBank branch as they claim they did not know ! doh.gif They then called me back that I can go to the branch to link it to BSA and no annual charges. biggrin.gif

btw. Bbgoat. I just updated the Gia for last year on 31/10 It's not 4.5%.. It's more than that. Arond 4.6 or 4.7 lol.

Remember all the hoo haa last year? Haahah. We on the right side finally.
*
After a little bit of hassle initially, I do get EXACTLY 4.5%. U get 4.6 or 4.7% ? Sure ?

U sure is the lucky one ! thumbup.gif
