Guys I found out that if you are in overseas and you didn't subscribe to the telco plans that offer Rm38 a day of data plans they somehow will still charged you for that. Few months back I went to overseas to work and I din really bother to subscribe the Rm38 day plan cause I work in the hotel and sometimes in my client office that already have wifi connection.

Anyway I went to overseas twice this year, the first trip they charged me Rm190 of international roaming that i didn't notice any wrong cause I did make some phone calls so I thought might be the calls that i make they charged me.I find it quite expensive thought. 2nd trip I take caution try not to make any calls from overseas because I got charged Rm190 for international roaming from the 1st trip.So 2nd trip back to KL and they charged me Rm152 for international roaming that i find it really weird.I don't know why they charged me this amount because I'm very sure I didn't make any call or subscribe theirs data plan in overseas.

So I called them and ask, they told me that I used the data roaming hence they charge me (2nd trip 4x38= Rm 152) that i didn't use.Hmmm....... Than i checked with them, the 1st trip billed they charged me Rm190 is also under the data roaming charges that i never used. Gosh, I told them they blindly charged me for the service that i never subscribe. I told them why I didn't get any data when I'm out from my hotel or my client office if you claimed I've use the data roaming? In this part they can't explain to me why.

The whole situation is that I didn't apply for the services. After all this complained and explanation to them, CELCOM billing department call me and they told me they can rebate Rm171 50% of the Rm342. I ask them why 50% only? They told me the other 50% is valid to charged me.....I'm so pissed vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif...I told them why is 50% is valid? I didn't even used their service why should i pay another 50%? To be honest with you guys, I feel pissed is not because i cannot get 100% rebate is because why should i paid something that i didn't used?!?! I ask CELCOM to give me a good explanation and proof that i used their services. Btw I already paid the Rm342 they charged me while this case is still going on to avoid any outstanding payment and call barred.

So guys pls check your bills, but if you use their data roaming than is fine.....still waiting for them to give me a good explanation!!

I have the same problem as well.

Gave them a call and they waived the charges for me.

I didn't know how, but I have changed my sim card as soon as I touch down.

You complain to CFM where will only 50%.
But if you used over 10mb. No choice but to pay up. Last time I got them to waive as mine was charged for 2kb and 1mb of usage.

i called up CS recently to activate int roaming..

they told me to off the "auto select operator" function and use manual selection instead. it seems like once it's auto connected to their international partner, the RM38 per day will kicks in...

the think that i dont understand was why they advise us to select non-partner operator if we dont want to pay RM38/day...

anyone know why?

i have similar experience as well. as a pre-caution make sure turn off completely data roaming and try to disable 4G or even 3G if you not intend to use data. also the auto connect function. sometimes like my case, my supp line changed to celcom sim on the way back from overseas forget to disable data roaming before hand. after put the sim card within few seconds she then disable the data roaming. so within that few seconds...automatic it hook up to their roaming partner and that few kbs=RM 38 per day. need to fight to get waiver

I actually off my data roaming already. If is auto connect to the data roaming, my question to Celcom is why I don't get the data service when I'm away from my hotel/office? Since they claim I've data...There is no connection at all. Still waiting for them to call me, I spoke to the CS I ask them to get someone can make decision to call me cause one of the CS saying that the other 50% of charges is valid to charged me. Why not 100%, since they claim i used it.

Sorry before hand, don't mean to hijack this thread.

Umobile also the same. Charge me RM 10 for 116kB data when I transit 1 hour in Hong Kong airport. Except I didn't use data as HKG airport got free WiFi. I think what cenduku said is true. You log on to the partner network only you sure kena charge. I also never subscribe to the promotion, but telco automatically subscribe you to "save" your money. Hah, when telco ever want to save you money? ranting.gif

Telco never will put your well being before their money.

Last time can complain to MCMC, but now must complain to CFM - Consumer Forum of Malaysia. So I complain to CFM, but they don't do anything. I think CFM is totally automated, just forward your complaint to telco, then wait for answer. When telco give answer, the system send you email asking "Is your issue resolved?" If you do nothing within 7 days, the issue is closed. If you not satisfied, you go to the CFM web portal and add on to the complaint, which they send to the telco, who replies, and they send you email...... etc, etc.

You know why I say CFM is automated? They supposed to have power to fine telco, and so telco must answer within 7 working days. But telco take own sweet time to answer means no one is checking the system. Therefore, CFM is automated, got no people there.

It is all your word against the telco, and ultimately, you'll give up because you need the phone service. You don't like and you want to port? Well, just to show you that at least one other telco, umobile, is the same as celcom.

To the OP - I know your frustration bangwall.gif

Use prepaid also can kena. Lost RM50 to Celcom Xpax while in Korea last month.

Most of the charges occurs at nite when phone is connected to hotel Wifi.

As customers, we should not have to be burden with finding ways to not get charged secretly by Telco. They should make sure we cannot connect to data if we choose not to.

Anybody has a simple solution? Travelling again soon, and dreading it now.

For Celcom

IR ON
IR OFF

Send to 28882. Will take few minutes to process. Keep the sent and confirmation SMS as proof.

Avoid sending at midnight - I sent at 1:03am earlier, and it responded with "failed for now", probably due to system maintenance period.

If still got charges after disabling, you can argue that "IR OFF" per the SMS.

Try a bill of RM8836... It was an unbilled amount but it got my line barred as it exceeded the credit limit. mind you my credit limit is RM360...but i dont know why UM bar me when it reached 8k+++++++. I was only driving through Brunei and i was not handling my phone. Dunno what the hell was going on. So frustrated.

Now telco tell me to wait till its billed to appeal on the charges. FML.

Experienced the same, was charged for one day where the bill shows it consumed 100KB while roaming in Japan.
Complained to Celcom, then took the complain number to CFM website. Within the week Celcom responded that the rebate will be reflected in the next month's bill.

Alot of forumers suggest precaution steps such as:
- turn off mobile data entirely / but roaming enabled (this will allow calls to come in, minus the data)
- manual operator select
