oops.. sorry forgot to state my budget. Yes it was for gaming. Mostly Overwatch, Battlefield 1 and FIFA. Might be getting For Honor as well.. My budget roughly around 1000-1300
*
It's either GTX1060 6GB or RX480 8GB with that budget range.

GTX1060 performs better in DX11/OpenCL games (~95% of the titles in the market now).

RX480 performs better in DX12/Vulkan games (only few titles but it is increasing slowly).

So far this is what Ideal Tech offered me for RM7069, I was wondering do I need to upgrade the RAM into GSKILL RipjawsV RED 2x8GB DDR4 2800mhz (CL15)/(CL16) for RM649 and the PSU into FSP Hydro G 650W (80+GOLD/Full MODULAR)*5 Years Warranty (Entitled for Red Green Match VI RM50 Rebates) for RM499.
*
RAM - 8GB is enough but will run of out memory in no time if you don't practice memory management at all, i.e. few Chrome/FF tabs can take away half of your available memory already, 16GB is recommended for this case (not mandatory though as Windows will remove inactive apps from the memory if it is not enough or use virtual memory).

PSU - I have no idea why they always push that PSU model to their customer, RM 349 for a non-modular and unknown internal component quality (barely got any review online), why take the risk? Superflower Leadex Silver is obviously a better choice here within the same price range. And yes I do recommend you to top up your budget a bit for a better PSU in this case.

Oh and about the Wireless adapter, is it sufficient to use the TL-WN881ND (300Mbps Wireless N PCI Express Adapter) listed there in terms of stability and connection range ?
*
If latency is on top of priority then ethernet connection is recommended, otherwise it is fine, if your router is 5GHz capable then you may consider getting the dual band model instead.

QUOTE(TristanX @ Feb 21 2017, 12:30 PM)
World of Warcraft heavily favors Nvidia. GTX1060 3GB is recommended instead.

Good insight, but if it is played on a 60Hz monitor then it doesn't really matter since it is able to output 90+ FPS in average ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

can I know some feedback about Acer KG240A RM999 144hz 1ms monitor compared to the BENQ 24" XL2411 ?
I've asked like 5-6 resellers like ideal tech, etech, dota tech, and all of them are out of stock for the BENQ 24" XL2411 monitor. I guess I'm out of choice and have to consider the acer monitor, so I would like to know if its good enough.

Techview posted the picture of BenQ Zowie XL2411 two weeks ago on their FB page, not sure if it is sold out or not, if you haven't asked them then you can try to PM them.

Watch Dogs 2 is very CPU demanding, you will experience inconsistent frame rates especially in city area or crowded area with i5, but your budget can only fit i5, unless you are willing to wait for AMD Ryzen 5 1400 (4C8T) $199 (or ~RM 1k) or top up your budget.

Focus on performance first before adding SSD and other fancy features/requirements like modular PSU, 16GB RAM etc, you may use the following build as the reference, it contains a good quality fully modular PSU but unfortunately I couldn't fit an SSD and 16GB RAM in the build, but they are easier to upgrade in the future as an "add-on" though.

Intel Core i5 7400 - RM 854
Gigabyte B250M-D3H - RM 419
G.SKill Aegis 8GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM - RM 280
Palit GTX1060 6GB GDDR5 Dual - RM 1229
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 219
Superflower Leadex Gold 550W - RM 429
Tecware Edge - RM 149

Hi,

I'm planning to build a rig. Here are some of the hardware that i have choose. Mainly use for torrent & movies only. Hope you guys can provide some feedback.

i3-7100 or Pentium G4560
Gigabye B270M-D3H
Kingston HyperX Fury 8gb D4 2400mhz
1TB WD Blue 7200rpm
Pioneer SSD 240gb
Tecware Quad Cube
Corsair VS450W
Windows 10 Home Edition OEM 64bit
Dell Monitor 23'' S2316H
Be Quiet Pure Rock Slim CPU Cooler.

** For WIFI, I already have TPLink AC1200 USB Wifi Archer T4U.

My budget is around RM3.5K.
*
If you plan to save cost, you can actually go for previous generation chipset like H110/B150 (there is no B270, it is B250).

And which Pioneer SSD model is that? I checked the specs, it doesn't seem to amaze me too much in terms of sequential 4K read/write, go for other model if you can.

[Budget] 2k - 2.5k

[Purpose] Work and Gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor, mouse, keyboard

[Monitor resolution] 1080p

[Location] Kuala Lumpur

Would like to build a rig with that budget. Please advise, thank you!!
*
Will use Skylake CPU instead of Kaby Lake CPU in the below build to save cost (of course you can go for Kaby Lake or wait for the upcoming AMD Ryzen if you wish nod.gif ).

Intel Core i5 6402P - RM 781
Asus H110M-K - RM 259
G.SKill Aegis 8GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM - RM 255
Zotac GTX1050Ti 4GB GDDR5 Mini - RM 729
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 219
FSP Hexa+ 450W - RM 169
Tecware F3 - RM 119

Total: RM 2531 (ETECH price inclusive of GST)

Add an SSD later when you have more funds to improve system responsiveness as well as system boot time.

Torrent/movie rig may need full size motherboard with more SATA ports. I have one 256GB SSD, one 3TB WD Red Pro, three 3TB SV35 hard disk. Running out of space soon.
*
Intel only supports 6 SATA 3 ports (from the PCH) even with the highest end Z270, it makes no difference to go for ATX mobo since you can also get 6 SATA ports on mATX (B150/B250, H110 is limited to 4) unless you purposely choose those mobo with custom onboard controller (which is usually found on those high end & expensive Z270 mobo only), it is not budget friendly at all in my opinion unless storage is the main requirement.

QUOTE(electrostacko @ Feb 23 2017, 03:33 PM)
hi all, what is the cheapest 24" IPS monitor on the market right now?

ViewSonic VA2419-SH, around RM 500.

actually i have chosen apacer 240gb but techview didnt sell it so he recommend me this pioneer.
*
Oh I see, couldn't find Pioneer branded SSD on their lelong online store, but Transcend, Kingston and Intel are sold by them, you may consider swapping the Pioneer to one of these.

Kingston UV400 (cheaper but slower in 4K read/write)/Transcend 370S (more expensive but faster than UV400).

QUOTE(munyen @ Feb 23 2017, 04:20 PM)
hmm how is it? possible?? for that 2 games
*
Possible, you can downgrade the i5 to Pentium G4560 (similar to an i3's 2C4T at lower clock speed) and the GPU from GTX1050Ti to GTX1050, this can save you around RM 650+/-.

Dota 2 and CS:GO perform better and faster on a CPU with high single core clock speed, if your friend prefers to have a stable 60FPS, especially during heavy clash in Dota 2, try to get i3 7100 (but this costs twice the amount of a G4560 though sweat.gif )

Any monitor requirement? Or just a normal 1080p60 panel will do?

QUOTE(TristanX @ Feb 23 2017, 06:53 PM)
The reason for full size motherboard is because you can add SATA cards on expansion slots.
*
So do mATX, you still have spare slots for expansion card, unless you plan to install more expansion card than usual, then that's different story and purpose.

But I don't think this is one of the requirements though, it is not mentioned in the list.

[B][Budget] around 3k, can be more

[Purpose] running multiple(3 or more) virtual machines with game, at the same time running around 5 game instances, with youtube playing, and sometimes doing programming or playing this game or this game. Maybe more function in future

[Hardwares that will be re-use] already got monitor, mouse, keyboard, HDD 1TB, speaker, headphones, wifi adapter, CD ROM not needed

[Monitor resolution] not applicable

[Games & softwares that use frequently] kindly click the links above

[Personal preferences] i7 7700, 16gb hyperX RAM, good cooling as the games will be running 24/7 simultaneously, GPU not emphasized as I don't mind running games in low settings or will upgrade it in future. Asus motherboard is a must.

[Location] Penang. maybe will purchase with @Hikari85
Appreciate your expertise!!  thumbsup.gif  rclxms.gif  notworthy.gif  icon_idea.gif  thumbup.gif
*
I don't have Hikari85's latest price list so I will use one of the retailers in KV area as example.

Intel Core i7 7700 - RM 1424
Asus Prime B250M-A - RM 450
G.SKill Aegis 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 560
FSP Hexa+ 450W - RM 169
Tecware Alpha - RM 219

Total: RM 2822 (ETECH price inclusive of GST)

Discrete GPU & SSD are not included, upgrade the PSU to a better one if you plan to get a powerful discrete GPU in the future, same goes to SSD, either downgrade the RAM to 8GB (not really recommended since you run so many applications at the same time) or top up your budget a bit for that.

[Purpose] some minor photoshop rendering and games like dragon nest, dota etc

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Speaker

[Personal preferences] 120gb ssd(optional), 500gb hdd , usb wifi adapter, gpu not amd
*
The price of 500GB and 1TB HDD is damn close, not worth going for 500GB when you can get extra 500GB by paying a bit more only (~RM 20+/-).

Intel Pentium G4560 - RM 259
Asus H110M-K - RM 259
G.SKill Aegis 8GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM - RM 255
Zotac GTX1050 2GB GDDR5 Mini - RM 589
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 219
FSP Hexa+ 450W - RM 169
Tecware F3 - RM 119
TP-LINK TL-WN722N USB WiFi - RM 45

Total: RM 1914 (ETECH price inclusive of GST)

* BIOS update is required to run Kaby Lake CPU on H110 mobo.

ahhhh thanks, noted for the hdd. How much would the price be with an i3 processor?
Is it recommended or does it just give a small difference with the performance with the above spec?
*
G4560 is basically a Kaby Lake i3 with slightly slower clock speed as it comes with 2 core 4 threads (the highlight of the entire Kaby Lake CPU this time), you have to spend double to get i3 7100 for that 0.4GHz bump and better iGPU (HD630 vs HD610, but not useful in this case since you are going to get a discrete GPU anyway), no so budget friendly sweat.gif

Can anyone recommend me any GPU as replacement for my 650TI Boost? I think my GPU officially died. I'm okay even if is getting the same card.

Budget not much, if can be done within RM400 that would be best. Don't mind on second hand also too as long as is working condition without issue.
*
The best would be looking for used card for that budget range because new low end GPU cost more than that, GTX750Ti around RM 500, GTX1050 around RM 600 etc.

Used GTX750Ti should be around RM 300 now (depends on item condition, warranty status etc.)

For AMD side, you may consider HD6950/HD7790/R7 260X, they are having similar performance with GTX750Ti, HD6950 is older than HD7790 and R7 260X is the rebranded version of previous card.
