Thank you for the advise. I was thinking that the budget of rm3000 is excluding the monitor.
*
If so then you may consider the first build with i7 7700 (or wait for AMD Rzyen CPU next month).

If you only play Dota 2 then you don't need such a powerful GPU to run at 1080p60, you may consider downgrading the card to GTX1050(or Ti) and bump the CPU to i7 7700 (if your "video" means video rendering and editing).

Hi bro, thanks for the quick feedback.  thumbup.gif
How much do u think is the damage if i decided to go with an i5 chip set instead?
Or is this G4560 sufficient to last me for several years down the road?
Cheers  smile.gif
*
Your budget is only able to build a low end gaming PC, G4560 + GTX1050 is somehow considered as a balance combo, of course you can opt to upgrade to i5 but it is harder to fully utilize the power of i5 when you are able to run the latest titles at low-to-mid settings with the GTX1050.

This G4560 is basically a modern i3 with slightly lower clock speed at a much affordable price, if you plan to upgrade the GPU in near future, then getting an i5 is recommended so you don't have to worry about CPU bottleneck issue, an extra of RM 700+/- is required for i5 7400.

Been reading some reviews of the G4560 and i5 7400 benchmarking and comparison.
Seems like the G4560 is an affordable entry level chip as you mentioned which is reasonably balance in terms of performance & budget wise.
Don't think gonna up my GPU in the near future as my current desktop lasted me for more than 6 years now.
As I thought to get a maximize spec for the budget to last me for a long time haha~  sweat.gif
Will give this a real thoughts and hopefully can get it down soon as now just using my lappy for the time being.
Thanks again and cheers thumbup.gif

PS: Bro, out of curiosity, if I want a budget rig with an i5 chipset.
what would be the spec be like? TIA  wink.gif

[Budget] : RM 2,300 or less.

[Purpose] : Basic workstation to use accounting software etc.

[Preference] : Small form factor.

Need everything except monitor/mouse/kb.

My mom was going to get this for reference. Just wondering whether it will be more worth it to build one.
*
What you get from pre-built OEM PC is bundled warranty, they are usually slightly more expensive than buying separately, you can customize the specs and even the casing if you go for custom rig path.

2.3k is able to fit everything listed in the Dell PC and Windows 10 Home key, probably will have RM 100 left (more or less).

Yes, they are located in Kepong, you may visit their physical store and make an official enquiry before pulling the trigger if you wish to do so.

There are also many other retailers that you may consider, like Idealtech, Techview, DotaTech, Lucro PC etc biggrin.gif

If you don't mind the graphics settings that you can run in games, then you can ditch the GTX1050 and use the iGPU for gaming (save cost). To fit a 120GB SSD, you have to top up your budget or downgrade the i5 to i3 (or wait for AMD Ryzen and see if they are able to offer a faster CPU at lower price or not).

Hi, need a recommandation for my friend. His firm need a new pc, solely for 3D Modelling and Rendering. Budget is around 5-6k. Do include a monitor too. Thx
*
You can refer to the build above (the one with AutoCAD), it will be almost similar unless your friend is planning to get workstation card, GTX1060 is faster than any of the low end Quadro/FirePro card currently, if you friend really want to go for workstation card, it is advised to get those with at least 2k price tag one (like M2000 or wait for Pascal based Quadro card to reach Malaysia first).

As for the monitor, there is ~1k left for it, so it is pretty much up to your friend whether to go "all-in" with 27" IPS 1080p or save the money by choosing a lower end model (24" TN/VA 1080p).

ok2, thx a lot bro, i'll refer to the build above, btw, those spec above, if it is compared to the likes of Dell Precision Workstation 7910/5810, which one will you get in terms of performance, prices and aftersale services  sweat.gif
*
I checked the price of 7910, it starts from $2099, so I think this is already out of your choice right?

Then moving to T5810, there are few configurations found online, price starts from $1199, the specs are nowhere near the specs of a custom rig, I definitely won't fall for it, even with the excellent after sales services from Dell laugh.gif

$1199 = ~RM 5400

CPU: Xeon E5-1603 v3 2.8GHz (4C4T) vs i7 7700 4.2GHz (4C8T)
RAM: 8GB 2400MHz ECC RAM vs 16GB 2400MHz NON-ECC RAM
GPU: Nvidia NVS 310 1GB vs Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB

Well, custom rig is a no brainer choice biggrin.gif

Just want to ask, the Quadro/FirePro card not suitable for gaming? Even the high end one?
*
You can game on Quadro or FirePro card but they are much slower in games.

In terms of theoretical performance, the Quadro M2000 (around 1812 GFLOPS) should be slightly faster than GTX1050 (around 1733 GFLOPS on stock speed), but M2000 costs 2.3k while the GTX1050 only costs under 600, you can see the ratio is not balance at all, that's why workstation card is normally interpreted as a non gaming card.

You may check the in-game FPS between a Quadro card and GTX card online to understand the real world difference.

Terence i want to ask. Do u think 1080p on 27inch ips is too big? Because from what i do research on tnet, majority said 27inch is too big and 24 is the max. What do u think??
*
For me, the max size for 1080p is 24", I will go for 1440p if I were to choose a 27" monitor.

Btw I'm going to use a 50" TV that's 1080p for this setup. Does it change the PC requirements?

No changes to the requirements, FYI the input latency of a TV is much higher than PC monitor sweat.gif

QUOTE(chang3rd @ Feb 16 2017, 09:47 AM)
Hi, my request a bit different from the others. Below is my current rig, what do you guys think I should upgrade first (one hardware at a time), if at all possible ? Mainly for gaming and possibly a bit of image/video processing and twitch streaming in the future.

Intel Core i5-3570
MSi B75MA-P45
G.SKILL/TEAM Elite Value RAM 2x4GB DDR3 1333mhz
Leadtek WinFast GTX 670
WD 1TB Caviar Blue
Intel 60GB SSD 330 Series
ENERMAX NAXN82+ 550W 80Plus Bronze
Antec One Casing

If upgrade to a newer graphics card, can the current motherboard support it ? Any other bottlenecks ? CPU ? RAM ?

What can I get for both ends of the range RM1,000 - RM2,000 ?
*
Your mobo can support any of the latest GPU.

< 1k: GTX1060 3GB or RX470 4GB
1k - 1.5k: GTX1060 6GB or RX480 8GB

Bottleneck only occurs when one of your hardware is not able to keep up with the resources requested by other hardware, it is hard to guarantee zero bottleneck, but in the general consensus, 3rd gen i5 + GTX1060/RX470/RX480 should be fine in most of the games except CPU demanding titles (minor CPU bottleneck).

Not recommended to go for CPU platform upgrade now because AMD Ryzen is coming soon (next month) and the performance improvement from 3rd gen i5 to 7th gen i5 isn't that significant afterall.

I am going to pick Zotac because of the 5 years warranty and nice backplate design laugh.gif

Zotac MY also provides loan GPU service while you wait for your card to come back from RMA.

Good day all,

I've decided to finalise the build for my brother who will start his Graphic Design course this March, main usage would be photo & video editing. Please take a look. Budget around RM5000+-100.

CPU                Intel Core i7-7700 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-B250M-HD3 Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Memory        Avexir Core Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
Storage        Samsung 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive(For O/S, Photoshop and Premiere Pro)
Storage        Kingston Predator 240GB PCI-E Solid State Drive (Project drive)
Video Card Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Video Card
Case                Cooler Master N200 MicroATX Case
Power Supply Corsair VS 550W ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive Asus DVDRW 24x
OS                Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit

Few questions,

1. Motherboard can support upto 32GB RAM in 2 slots, should I go 2x8GB or 1x16GB?
2. Is the PCI-E SSD compatible? Can use the M.2 2280 slot from motherboard right? Or need to use the PCI-E slot?
3. Graphic card, mainly for CUDA acceleration, better to just take GTX 1050?

Thank You!

1. You might as well just "upgrade" to the 4 RAM slots model (B250M-D3H), the price difference is RM 40 only. 2 x 8GB is slightly faster than 1 x 16GB due to dual channel mode but price is higher than 1 x 16GB, if you really go for the 2 RAM slots model, then I would recommend 1 x 16GB so you can add another stick of RAM without having to throw away one of the 8GB RAM sticks.

2. Yes, PCI-E NVMe SSD is supported via the M.2 slot of the mobo (Intel Optane memory ready as well).

3. Yes, that's the only way to go.

Intel Pentium G4560 - RM 239
Asus H110M-K - RM 279
G.SKill Aegis 4GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM - RM 145
Samsung 850 EVO 120GB SSD - RM 299

Since it is over budget, you may consider to re-use your current HDD from your old desktop to reduce the cost (for storage).
