I'm going for my first marathon this 25th november at penang bridge. Because I'm such a slow runner, I'm expecting my time to be anywhere between 6.5 to 7 hours.

What kind of conditions should i be expecting? Windy? Humid? I saw in strava that the terrain is quite flat and elevation gain is only 70m.

Have you ever run PBIM before? be it 10km or 21km.
forget the condition first. the FIRST thing u should take note is that, marathon start 1am or 2am (you go check)
our body need rest / sleep, you plan your rest / sleep for 6 hours before marathon start

Expect humid.

Wanna ask how do you guys fuel up during the run? I normally eat chocolate every 45 minutes during my long runs. Don't wanna buy hammer gels because they're expensive.

since u eat chocolate, then bring chocolate.
since u asked us here, most of us are eating energy gels, you should know the pros and cons being expensive.
if you decided to buy, on which energy gel brand to eat, check which energy gel brand is sponsoring PBIM...  you SHOULD test n try up during your long run training.

Also how's the water station like? I'm contemplating on bringing water bottles or not.

water stations are clearly stated in the event info. pls go read up.
sekian.

All the Best!!  thumbup.gif

Believe in your training. if you training always drink water every 1km, then bring water bottle. water station approximately every 3km.
invest a bit la on expensive gel for your 1st marathon. Hammer Gel too thick for my taste. but feel a bit kenyang compare to High5.
Some runner cannot tahan eating something new. if u dont wanna take the risk, then just bring your chocolate.

Main challenge for me is to adapt the night time. might be sleepy for some.

It's golden rules that never try new food on race day

It's 1am o 2am morning time ! 😂

When is your next race in peninsular?

Thanks for the feedback man. That means i probably have to go to sleep at 5pm. Problem is my bus ride from KL is from 9am to probably 2 or 3pm. Wonder it would be a good idea to take sleeping pill.
*
race bib - selected via courier ?

nobody able to comment sleeping pill good o not. you can try yourself stimulate race day eve situation during your training.

depend your hotel distance to starting line, you can have your dinner by 6pm and sleep... wake up at 12am.. get ready, eat your chocolate n go to race venue.

whatever doubt you have now, test it in your training...
remember to run 30km LSD

Wanna as you guys a question, after running a marathon, when I get bk to hotel or nearby toilet to pee, I feel there is a sharp pain from where my urine till coming out , this normal and how to avoid it?
I only noticed this happen in marathon race only.
*
De-hydrate perhaps ?
Drink more water, every water station drink a cup of water, if there are water station for every 2.5km

If every race also happen, then better go see doctor.

Hi guys, i have a nagging question that i want to ask those who run ultra martahon (40+km).

How fit are you?

If you guys perform HIIT, do you guys not tired as well and can go for hours?
*
Fit as ultra runner lo

Ultra is different game plan. You run, walk, eat, craw to complete the ultra. Strong mental is important.

More on endurance , when endurance base is solid, then go a little bit faster

Hi everyone. I am an expat from Hong Kong and now living in KLCC. I run at KLCC park occasionally and started running more often recently. I used to hit 6min/km when I run more but my pace is around 7min/km now.

Anyone here run at KLCC park in the evening or during Car Free KL in the morning?
*
There's a running group called KLCC Runners group in Facebook
You can try find and join.

Should have a lot runners running at KLCC park on evening

Ya I have joined the group but found out that all their schedule is like 6AM while I am a night owl. I have been trying to find someone who is about my level and train together at night. Anyway, I have just joined a paid running class at KLCC park. Probably  I can make some new friends at that time.
