Yeah, the core clock speed bouncing in between 20xx-2100 most of the time. Increasing the fan speed and Over voltage will change anything?
what does the power target do? It can be adjust to 112% max.
*
Increasing fan speed = bear the noise. Overvoltage will do nothing unless you do the shunt mod, and by pass the 1.25V hardware limit.

Power target helps keeping your overclocks stable, but that in itself introduces additional heat, because your OC now is more constant. It's a balancing act, you need to find the sweet spot.

In my case, I'm taking care of the temperature side of thing with the AIO cooler EVGA Hybrid Kit. Once the temperature's down, pulling the power target slider to maximum will not result in firewalling the GPU to hotter temp. I can now concentrate on finding the best core and memory OC settings instead of worrying about temperature.

Well, staying on the waiting train can be a looooong journey
*
They're forever on that train, never to get off and enjoy the destination. Or maybe they're just Schadenfreude-ing others who had spent before them and say "see? I buy cheaper get same or more performance like you", but others have had that experience and enjoyed that experience way before they get their turn. wink.gif

Inb4 what is a "Schadenfreude". tongue.gif Kudos to those who have the courage to take the plunge, versus who are forever on that waiting train.

Alas, I'm on the train too right now. So, timing of the 1080ti (if it is real), is just nice since my train ticket is supposed to get me off at Kaby Lake Station

Do get off the train. The cleaners wanna do their job also. Some people haunt these trains and become squatters inside it forever. tongue.gif

Did you check out how crazy the amount of settings are available in that game!!? Benchmarking the game is a "game" by itself.

Gears of War 4: separating the men from the boys, the beast from the meek, the high end from the low tier, GPU-wise.

err for your rig.. it's no fun
just max out absolutely everything
*
To add more fun, I decided to see how the game does in a more punishing setting: 4K Ultra on GTX1080FE on the VR rig. i7 4790K OC 4.4Ghz, GTX1080FE OC 2050Ghz core/10800Mhz memory.

And the benchmark result running 3840x2160 on Ultra.

Sorry, cant shrink them any further, you cant see details on them if I do shrink them. Screenshots had to be spoilered.

Is the GOW4 a direct sequel to GOW3? Can a GOW noob catch up in terms of storyline? No time for me to backtrack games unfortunately sad.gif
*
The games are episodic, yes, but you dont have to play the earlier three to know the story. Intro and prologue tells the gist of the story so far.

Pushed my VR rig's GTX1080FE earlier, using Heaven Benchmark on loop, and recording clocks on MSI Afterburner Mobile app.

Look at the card hitting the wall on temperature, power, and voltage limits! I can only fix the temperature limit, by the EVGA Hybrid Kit later. The power and voltage limit I can't do anything, unless I do the shunt mod. Which breaks warranty.

The card is supposed to drop clocks once it hits the 82/83C thermal limit. Funnily, it didnt, on one occasion it climbed back up to 2012Mhz after passing 83C. Maybe helped by the power limit I've dragged to 120%?

GOW4 running on 4790K OC 4.4Ghz/GTX1080 OC 2050Mhz core/10800Mhz memory running Ultra at 4K, has almost the same amount of FPS on GOW on 5930K OC 4.6Ghz/Twin Titan X Pascals SLI OC 2080Mhz core/11000Mhz memory.

ULTRA graphics settings on twin Titan X Pascals, is just silly. tongue.gif

Woke up early (well, to my standards anyway tongue.gif) for this.

Shadow Warrior 2, first game in PC supporting HDR and Nvidia's Multi-res Shading.

Game is running in 4K, in HDR and Multi-res, on i7 4790K, GTX1080 with Samsung UHD 4KTV JS8000 (JS8500 US model number). HDR10 8bpc at 4:4:4 12bpc at 4:2:0.

Since YouTube does not support HDR, (neither does the recording software used to record this), image quality recorded shows overblown highlights as display brightness is boosted dynamically by HDR. On HDR supported displays, overblown highlights in the last portion of the video accurately shows sky details such as graduated color shading and shadow area of the clouds. I do not have the recording capability to show this other than describing what I saw with my own eyes.

Nvidia Multi-res feature allows the center of the rendered image in the game to be pin-sharp, but slightly blurs the image we move radially towards the outer edges of the video. This allows less processing power to render the game at outer edges, thus improving performance from the freed resources.

Shadow Warrior 2 really not bad, can five it a try guys.  thumbup.gif

Looks even better in HDR. New update today allows HDR brightness from 0.5 to 2.0. The intro movie is not rendered in HDR, making it a little darker in HDR supported UHDTV I have (JS8000), so this HDR brightness settings helps balance it out. You can see it in the gamma correction bar, in the video it's clipped, the last two columns bear the same brightness, but in HDR supported displays, they are well separated columns.

*video just uploaded and processing, quality up to 4K/2160p will be available once it finishes processing*

Video quality looks overblown due to the capturing and recording software not supporting HDR. YouTube too does not support HDR post-processing at this time, only HDR-to-SDR tone mapping, to approximate HDR. In HDR10 supported display and hardware, dark areas remain inky black dark but without losing shadow quality, in bright highlights such as the sky, when looking at brightly lit sunny area of the sky, in non-HDR display, the sky looks clipped. HDR10 displays uses 10bit panels, allowing 1.06 billion colors, compared to 16 million colors on SDR displays.

Unboxing done in Putrajaya. Preliminary temperatures running on load at 41-45C running in 4K Ultra with G-Sync in Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 with core clock maintaining a steady 2101Mhz and memory clock of 11GHz.

Temperature limit tamed. Power and voltage limit is still a problem.

EVGA Hybrid Kit AIO liquid cooler on my GTX1080 Founders Edition.

Maximum temperature under load 50C, with core clock steady at 2.1Ghz. The rig is now completely silent now since CPU is AIO liquid cooled as well.

The lower price they(AMD) go, the less revenue they make, the faster they will die.

Nvidia can afford to flex their wallet muscle to do that. Coupled with the fact that AMD users always chanting the "cheap" mantra, they don't realize that their cheapness is killing the company that is making their GPUs.
