QUOTE(ihowin @ Aug 6 2016, 03:18 AM) hi guys, need all your opinion. so recently, I wanted to open an ASM account but it was not available so they suggested me to open an ASG account and I did. After doing little bit of research, it seems that ASG has quite some few negativity but that was like around 5 years or 4 years ago. I open with a minimum of RM500 last time and wonder if I should top up another RM2500? Also how is ASG different from ASM? Big mistake on your part. Why? (it would be a long term investment for me, I know there's a pin post about it on this forum but I still dont quite understand) Much thanks if someone is able to give suggestion and explanation about it. 1) You lose 5%+ on the spot (ASG have service charge while ASM have none) 2) ASG follow KLCI so the returns be < 6.x% (ASM). I got returns of 1.x% before. That's why I decide to convert to fixed price ASX. (cut loss after holding ~3 years) 3) There are better funds available on FSM with only 2% SC compare to ASG 5% SC. 4) ASG NAV flacuates not like ASM. So you CAN LOSE money. ASM NAV is fixed at RM1/unit. How to lose money? Forget about topping up ASG. Go try luck opening the other 3 fixed price funds. ASW2020, ASM, AS1M. There are places with higher chance to open listed on first page. If I am not mistaken, the bank gets comission for ASG. You should have walk away. Bow that RM500 is stuck inside there for at least 3 years to break even (to get back your principal) Hope this answer your question |

QUOTE(wil-i-am @ Aug 6 2016, 08:49 PM) Dividend not important but NAV sure will rebound unless it's very bad. QUOTE(nexona88 @ Aug 6 2016, 08:56 PM) I believed KLCI already low already. How low further can it go? Compare to me, I bought when KLCI was all time high.QUOTE(ihowin @ Aug 6 2016, 08:58 PM) Ahh alright thanks man for the info!! Seems now I would need to try my luck to open the fixed price funds, is there any online website or anything to check for availability or something? As far as I know, usually this thing, it would be way beneficial if you know anyone from inside to help open an account. No online website. Only ASNB branches can see for you availability of units. You don't need someone inside to open. I am a perfect example. Nobody inside, no priority relationship to leave book at counter. But I am a student. So not counted as lots of free time. Btw, I opened mine at banks.not ASNB branch. QUOTE(ihowin @ Aug 6 2016, 09:01 PM) Thanks!! Gonna get the funds ready and stanby outside their office before open hahahaha. Usually is hard to open fixed price account though. May I know where to check for next upcoming dividend or availability of the account? Check first page. The dates are listed there for dividend date. This post has been edited by Ramjade: Aug 6 2016, 09:05 PM |

QUOTE(wonglokat @ Aug 6 2016, 09:53 PM) Accompanied a friend to do her ASB and ASM topup at PNB office. Enquire with the staff and they're very keen on pushing the new ASx products and said non-bumi shares in ASM/ASW difficult to get. What ASX products did they recommend?Anyone fortunate enough in recent months to successfully open an account? |

QUOTE(tonytyk @ Aug 6 2016, 11:58 PM) Will be very competitive top up then, as everyone seems to be aiming for that. Hope have sufficient units available for top up by all. You don't need to wait until then. Topup whenever you are free to visit the bank. You can also topup ASM and AS1M if ASW2020 doesn't have. |

QUOTE(wonglokat @ Aug 7 2016, 12:20 AM) Thanks for the replies. Indeed, the variable price fund. Will try again the next time I go then (ASW September!). ASB is fixed price. Give better returns than ASW2020, ASM, AS1M.Kinda disconcerting to see my friend getting as much ASM as she wants. But I'm offered the option of piggybacking on her ASB (: If your friend can get ASM, next time you go just bring cash along to topup ASM too. Don't need to wait for ASW2020. |

QUOTE(tonytyk @ Aug 7 2016, 05:37 AM) Yes. Our big boss ia one of them. ~Rm20k/transaction. Total 6 figure. But that was because 1) megasales 2) leave book at counter. Even without megasales, one can easily get 5 figure IF one can leave book at the counter. For those don't have the privilege to leave book at the counter, be like auntie twinkle. Camp at the bank everyday. She managed 6 figure in 1 month. For the condition now, RM100k/day might be hard. But 5 figure/day should be doable. QUOTE(tonytyk @ Aug 7 2016, 11:11 AM) What about ASM? Didn't see any such allocation on page 1, so it is open for anyone without limitation ? I am sure they still have data on actual ownership of the units, right? ASM is everyone can topup. People withdraw for Hari Raya, CNY, Deepavali, semua boleh ambil. |

Hopefully tomorrow I can dump my remaining RM1500 into ASW2020. Then I will take a short break until 1/9 and then redump 5 figure of FD into ASW2020.

QUOTE(wonglokat @ Aug 9 2016, 12:40 PM) How long / many tries will the staff at the counter be willing to hunt for available units? I've seen some persistent aunties and uncles in my last visit. I don't think I'm much of a haggler / implore-r Last week they try 5x for me for AS1M. Multiple RM2k. After that the counter woman siad no more cause she have lots of customer and she haven't went for lunch.QUOTE(wil-i-am @ Aug 9 2016, 01:25 PM) This morning. About 10am. |

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Aug 10 2016, 04:43 PM) The sky is the limit for ASW2020, ASM, AS1M. Get 6.x% p.a and your NAV is ALWAYS RM1/unit, don't want?Only catch : 1) money added after 2nd of the month will not get dividend for that month 2) camp at bank to get the units unless you have PB. |
