You need to be more careful with AP caliber 3120. Their service interval is shorter than Rolex due to the more delicate movement. The Caliber 3120 is quite a thin movement with a lot of very tiny and paper thin parts. I heard you can stretch it to 6 years but usually 3-5 years is the norm. I am sending mine in at 4 year intervals.

You don’t want parts to be worn out as they are expensive to replace so try to send it in before the oil dries up and o-ring seals break down.

Thanks for the advice. I have been and will continue to wear it quite often so it is definitely something worth considering thumbup.gif

btw, should i consider extending the warranty. my watch was purchased in 2020, and i got it in the grey market.
*
Why not just register it online and get those extra few years of warranty?

if i were to register, it would mean the details of current watch owner will be different from the first buyer. just afraid that this might entirely void the warranty. will it?
*
QUOTE(friedricetheman @ May 2 2021, 10:05 AM)
Grey market purchases no extended warranty. It’s only 2 years.

Extended warranty only apply for purchases through their official channels.

Can check their website for more details.
*
You should still be able to register it online.
To my knowledge, the warranty (2+3) is transferable.
That is the carrot they use to get you to register online so that they can track the watch's ownership - a good thing if you ask me.

The initial purchase needs to be made within the ad/boutique network - that might be what friedrice is referring to re: official channels v grey market?

I should also add, a lot of the frequent flyers here have been collectors for 10+ years.

We didnt all become Rolex enthusiasts overnight.

whats the difference between day-date and datejust?

One shows both the day and date, while the other is just date.

As far as desk ornaments go, here's a modern take on a classic genre.

My father in law has a pretty close Rolex AD friend. So I thought of trying my luck and asked for a Daytona or GMT-Master II. No dice. Same response. Wait 10 years or spend on other watches to get on the list and wait 2-3 years.
*
You went straight for the jugular, the top dog - there was ever only going to be one response.

With respect, some perspective is important here.
In asking for these watches, you’re up against the likes of people who’d buy 4 Hublots in one sitting without batting an eyelid.
These guys likely spend in the 6-figure region annually too.
Put yourself in the allocation manager’s shoes, whose interest is aligned with the company, not yours - what would you do?

It is no different from going into Omega and asking for a Snoopy.

I recently picked up an exp1 and I’ve been told I won’t be allocated any more professional models in the next 12 months.
I’m not sure if that policy applies to all ADs (or they’re just indirectly telling me to piss off until next year laugh.gif), but to me it seems like they’re are trying to spread out the allocations so that it doesn’t all go to a select group of whales.

Exp1, esp in 36mm form, can be quite low key.

Easily mistaken for a Tudor or a Seiko.

Ending the year with a bang!

Was it a conscious choice to pick the G over the R, or would you have been fine with either?

sizing watch bracelet?

Lets talk, how do you like yours sized?
I always sit in the weird position of either slightly too tight or slightly loose...either that or I'm too used to using leather =/. Wrist size at 16.5cm~

Asides metal bracelets, what are your "one watch collection" strap alternatives? thanks!
*
I like mine tight, with no play/movement while on the wrist.
None of my watches have micro-adjustment so they’re all sized a little differently, and I wear them according to what fits for the day’s weather laugh.gif

QUOTE(negayem @ Jan 5 2022, 10:50 AM)
Just checked AP website, prices have gone up. About RM10k to RM20k depending on the model. Ouch! sad.gif
*
15450 went up about rm9k - just a hair under rm100k now.

Here’s a watch I’ve been tracking since even before the pandemic, and today they finally had an exhibition model to try on.

Unfortunately, even after ample persuasion, they still wouldn’t sell me one laugh.gif
