oh forgot to mention this:

although working with the gvment have low basic salary, it's the perks that gets u by.

i. u have various types of non-taxable allowances. u get allowances for home (around RM170 - RM900), for spouse and kids, critical field and many more. non-taxable!

ii. yearly bonus. not much, but it's guaranteed.

iii. free medical.

iv. extremely low interest rate for housing/car loans.

v. it's extremely hard to get fired. they will always give u several options (if u really suck at ur job): 3 months notice to quit; or u voluntarily letak jawatan; or u transfer urself to another department, school, ministry or even another state; or they will demote u.

vi. ultimately: breakfast at 8.00am, brunch at 10.30, lunch at 1pm and tea at 3.30pm. mengalahkan hobbit...

i agree with the perks. but i think the govt workers now will find it not so easy to curi tulang. esp those working in putrajaya. cos my mom works there and i know they're not supposed to be found eating at the cafe after 8am. the most they can do is bungkus and eat in the office's 'bilik makan'. that oso not evryone can eat all at once cos they dont want any dept to be completely empty. and, definitely no brunch, tea whatsoever. if they wanna go out to the bank, clinic, etc, they'll need ur superior's permission 1st. it's quite strict there la..but i'm not sure bout govt offices in KL or other states. mayb not so strict as putrajaya i guess...

well, i suppose i should also mention the annual "exams" that each gvment worker needs to take nowadays. yes, we have freakin assessments baby! if u're not into self-improvement of any sort, u'll find ur salary becomes stagnant with no increments, no bonus and minimal perks. simple life? well if u dont like exams, dont join.

In my oipion you should take it. it's true that the possibilty of getting call to work for the government is very very low. I hope you can provide us more details about the field of study they are offering since that is the main factor that determine whether the call you or not

I graduated with a state government scholarship
looking forward to work with gotverment ler
I write in to them asked if can be positioned in any goverment agency
instead of offering me a job
they released my bond lar cool2.gif

my point is, don't worry so much about working for the goverment
you want also they wont necessary let you in
nowadays goverment position so HOT ok
they work 5 days week
got increment and bonus
plus all kinds of benefits -- housing, education, clothing
not to mention they "free-style" working environment
