Am using UNIFI AP, and Unifi AP-LR series.
Nice thin client AP with controller, best of all license if free for controller software.
Overall, controller features aren't impressive but suitable for average SME business and cafe environment usage.
One thing cool compare to average home AP like TPlink, I have been switching on the unit for months, still running stable.

Where can I get an ERL in Penang?

I want to give it a try!

My current home network is as follows: -

1) 100Mbps TIME Fiber
2) D-Link DIR-850L (came with TIME package) as main router to assign IP & routing. I have the WiFi radio turn off. I don't like the limited feature & cannot use DD-WRT firmware!
3) Use Aztech HomePlug 500Mbps to wire to 3 rooms for 3 APs.
4) Living room - TP-Link Archer C7 v2 as AP (5GHz only).
5) Room one - Linksys EA2700 as AP (5GHZ only).
6) Room two - Apple AirExpress 2012 Gen2 as AP (both 2.4GHZ & 5GHz)

With laptop direct connect to DIR-850L, I can get close to 100Mbps speedtest to time.com. However, thru my iPhone6S connected to Archer C7 with channel 149 at 80MHz channel width, I only roughly get 75+Mbps downlink & 80+Mbps uplink.

I want to try a "better" wired router.

ERL maybe an over-kill in my home. Let me check more on ER-X.

My biggest problem of the D-Link router is that QoS is not working. The moment I setup QoS, it kills the network speed down to ~8Mbps.

I have a question on ER-X with SFP.

The TIME.com Fiber comes with a Huawei EchoLife HG8240H ONT. Since ER-X has a SFP port, can I plug the fiber optic directly into ER-X without an ONT & set it up to run?

dun think so, Time OLT and CPE OLT is tied by proprietary protocol.
However, you can always ask Time about it, their technician seem better than TM.

I read great reviews for this product but there isn't any proper seller channel here in malaysia so there's not a lot of information I can get about the products.

I'm planning to upgrade my home wireless router/modem combo. Currently using streamyx. It will be great if the router signal can get thru 3 floors.

Anyone can point me to the right direction ?

Hi meh-man,

There is no short answer to your question. If I needed to redo my whole network again, I could: -

1) Plan for >100Mbps fiber boardband,
2) Use Gigabit switch, LAN & CAT6 cables,
3) Use dedicated wired router to manage DCHP, routing traffic, QoS, etc.
4) Use WiFi APs to cover all 3 floors (diff SSID). WiFi-AC at 5GHz channel is rated at 867Mbps, but range is much lower than WiFi-N at 2.4GHz.

Note. It is too early to consider mesh-Wifi (Eero or Luma)! No point paying premium to be their lab rat...!

Hi I just reread my post and I think I was too vague with what I want out of the setup. I live in a rural area so i doubt unify is coming anytime soon. I only plan to get a wireless AP since I think that's all I can afford for the moment. I plan to reuse the modem TM gave me. Plus this is for home use so at most its 5-10 max at a time. So a high end router is out of the question. I'm sick and tired of generic low quality bullshit products from tp,asus dlink etc.

TLDR version : What is the cheapest wireless AP compatible with streamyx ?
