Oh just get what you want now. Then invest in the lens that you need. Don't need to listen to others. Your choice of camera is quite good already. IMO the 40D will be good enough for you. In fact, it can be with you for a very long time if u keep it nicely. No matter the cost, if you are really into photography and really want to be good and passionate about it, your choice of equipment now is really good enough.

Joseph Hahn, go with what your heart tells you, bro. We are just giving our own personal opinions, the decision is still yours to make in the end. Let's have fun shooting and sharing pics here together! icon_rolleyes.gif

Like that he'll have 2 systems in the same household. Can learn using both and switch to whichever one he likes. Thats a luxury most of us don't have.

If my dad was a NIkon user and has invested heavily on lenses and equipment, I would stay with that brand instead of having to buy a whole new system. But thats personal preference. This way I have more excuses of pestering dad to get a new lens etc....

Sigh, like I said... get what you think you need.

It's not that I'm telling you to get a D40 or a 400D or D80 or whatever. There's nothing wrong with any of the cameras, it depends on what you expect them to do. If you have no budget concerns then that's great, but considering that the Tamron you want has no IS and is slow as a snail at 250mm it's useless without a tripod. If you want Canon the 18-55 + 55-250 like you considered earlier is probably a great way to start as long as you have cash leftover for other things.

D80 and 40D are 2 different bodies aimed at different markets. Go into a store and play with both, then pick whichever you feel comfortable with. 40D is more of a pro body but the D80 has everything that most people will need. If it's the features on paper that you care about then consider that in a year or so there's a good chance that whatever 450D Canon has plans for will probably inherit for half the price.

I think I've said what I need to, you don't sound very happy anyway so get whatever you think is best for yourself.

Sorry i snapped there for a bit but i think i'll still get the Tamron 18-250. From what i read (where else if not from Google results) it's not really a bad lens. In fact, some say it's on the same level or even better than Nikkor 18-200 VR. Besides, i think IS/VR is a bit overrated though it does help in certain situation. And i did include a tripod on my list didn't i ? Just in case for night photos etc. I took a look at flickr photo pool for the Tamron 18-250 and i think the pictures look great. I think it's perfect for outdoor, even the macro pictures looks nice. Even the indoor pictures don't look so bad either. I guess i'll stick to my "list", for now. smile.gif

Yupe, the lens is mostly for outdoor use, if use indoor with low-light settings, you'll have all your pics blur due to hand shake especially at 250mm. But I think you can compensate them with high ISO since Canon performs quite well with high ISO. Way to go, bro! thumbup.gif

Kinda considering Canon Normal EF 50mm f/1.8 II AF as well. How much do you reckon ? Should be around 300-400 ? I don't think i'll get a dedicated macro or ultra wide angle lenses though. I did consider D80 before 40D but i just think that the D80 is getting old. I know it's good but new features on the 40D is quite irresistable. blush.gif

Yeah i've seen pictures at ISO 3200 and it still looks useable. And that's with NR off. ohmy.gif

Thanks for the suggestion. I might get the camera early next year when my new semester starts in UTM KL. Where exactly is the shop ? Mind giving me the location and contact number ?

The 50mm is a must if you're going to take portraits smile.gif Its around 300+ only, wont go more than 400. If i can remember its around 320. Hmmm, ok, since you wanna make comparisons.

Lets talk in PM if you will? cuz i dont wanna taint this thread with other brands. smile.gif
