can canon 40d use "SanDisk CompactFlash 4 GB EXTREME III"???? anyone?

Good question. It does support CF Type I & II...

My rough guess is, it should support Extreme III...

Yup based on my research, 40D can take full advantage on Extreme IV speed. Therefore, it shouldnt be a problem for 40D to support Extreme III.

EXTREME III is compatible. Whether you wallet is compatible with getting an EXTREME III is another question laugh.gif . I need not even talk about EXTREME IV. Went to check out the prices for the 4GB. Can get myself a KINGSTON ULTIMATE 4GB and a HOYA Filter for that price roughly.... doh.gif I'd rather the KINGSTON. Besides, we won't be making full use of the insane speeds with our APS-C DSLRs right?

Since We on the topic of CF Cards, I'm using KINGSTON Ultimate 133x which is the same as the SANDISK EXTREME III 133x in terms of speed. But at a MUCH cheaper price. Is there any difference in lasting quality between the 2? Both are well known flash memory manufacturers but I see SANDISK Pushing more adverts for theirs. unsure.gif

40D supports CF Type I as well as Type II so it should take EXTREME III. Plus, if it can take the EXTREME IV, I see no reason it can't take the EXTREME III.

If you getting one, check with your dealer if you still have qualms about it.

have you guys ever sent your flashguns to canon and got it fixed?

the reason i am asking this is because i found a Speedlite 550EX and it's quite battered up....and i think it's quite old also...i put batteries into it but nothing happens

i am planning to send it to canon for repairs...

If it cant be repaired, will canon charge a handling fee? (i seriously doubt it could be repaired but who knows, i might be lucky)

Yupe, check with the dealer is the best way to find out. If possible, ask for a testing of the Extreme III in 40D.

If you're looking to add to your S5IS, Firstly you'll need the lens adapter which would cost anywhere from RM120-150. Only with that will you be able to attach screw-on lenses and filters. If you get the Canon Lens Adapter and hood set, the filter or lens thread should be 58mm. You can check with photo franchises like Bintang Maju or FOTOKEM if they have stock. CANON Stores normally will have stock but their prices might not be as flexible as these other retailers... Cheapest I've seen all these accessories are in Singapore.

Hey, what are YOU using for your 40D?

I think I've tested the EXTREME III on my 30D and it works. But it wasn't my card. To high a price to pay when I can get the KINGSTON of equal speed for 30-40% cheaper. So am using the Kingston at the moment. icon_rolleyes.gif

The difference between CF Type I & CF Type II is the thickness.

Type I = 3.3mm & Type II = 5mm

Sandisk Extreme III is Type I size.

Sandisk Extreme III is not Type III smile.gif It's just a name... they even have Extreme IV which can also be used on ur 40D smile.gif

ah that's totally over my budget for now, hmmm might get a ef50mm f/1.8 + a +4 close-up filter instead, cheaper and the result is pretty good too. Should last me till I save up enough for a proper macro lens

RM4299 with the 17-85 IS lens at Boeing, you can get just the kit with nothing else at Tarita Sg. Wang for 3.6k +. for the kit with 18-55 lens should be 3k + i think
