Who is he?
Reminds me of the story that in an application Aston Villa got for their manager role, in the 'Experience' section, it was stated 'Played Football manager 2005/2006 and managed to win the league many times'
*
naw, he was a defensive midfielder with the highest Free kick and Long shots, all at 20.
he was a perfect DM, better than Boateng IMO;

woops, his name was Doriva

oh btw, it was Middlesbrough, not Aston Villa laugh.gif

the CV was so perfect, Boro replied him in an appropriate manner. The website is still up, but I don't remember the address.

how do u guys set ur defence in tactics? may i get some piece of advices?

when opp team is using 2 strikers, i'll use my DCs to man mark them tightly...

do u really trust on ur scout reports, like how many stars they rate them? or would u rather buy them n try them?

Defense is an art in FM. Make sure you have a good scout that give you accurate opponent record. Then do the necessary adjustment from his report. And make use of the opposition option too, it's key in winning every game. Mark tightly would work well, if only you got pacey defender and high marking attribute, or else you would suffer if the striker is a skillful and teamplay striker, then you are dead because marking tightly provide space for the striker to pass the ball around. I would suggest to have a DM to ease your centre back if you man mark the strikers as you might leak goal to opposing team MC.

No. I dont trust my scouts despite they have good stats (i'm taking care of MU) because I have best scout in the entire FM 2007, it's called FM Genie bwahahahahaha.... It's a scouting software and it will just tell you everything, so no hassle of waiting for your scout to scout some real good players. You might say I'm cheating, well... even you got the best players in the world or best tactic in the game, you wont win if you dont understand how the game works. So I just get this little utility to help me ease my scouting.

And I have one tip for the LLM players or those stingy managers who dont want to spend, at the start of your game or during pre-season, use the FM genie to shortlist bunch of youngsters (under 20s) whose part time contract is to be expired within 1 year (with good potential ability of course) then offer Enquiry on everyone of them. Imagine what, the clubs will not ask for a single cent for their transfer !! If you sign them by force, you have to compensate from 1k - ?? m (depends on the players potential). By using this trick, I save at least 3m pound of transfer fee and now I have bunch of >175 PA youngsters in my reserve waiting to unleash their talents in the next few years. I'm with MU and I'm such a stingy manager hehehe~

Meh, I use my own intuition on buying players. It never fails me untill now. I bought Raul Garcia and Gonzalo Castro on a whim, just because they were offered to me at the time, and because they were youngsters with good positioning. I didn't even care about the stats at the time, and now, both are their respective countries first team choice. Spain with Garcia and Cesc in the midfield are scoring for fun in the international tournament because I use them so much in my team.

Well... I never say you cant trust your intuition or your scouts, it's just that by using those utility I mentioned can be said a 100% guarantee of what you can expect when you bought the player. Come to the end of it, whether we like it or not, FM is just a number game, the rules is simple, the higher number you have, the higher chances for you to win. So, why not make life simpler to get a number viewer tongue.gif

Btw, IIRC, Cesc and Garcia are some of the top midfield, good buy. thumbup.gif

I do the same method as you... but one thing that makes the method back-fire you is that a lot of clubs will try to unsettle and buy the young star players we got. Its kinda annoying when you have the future stars but have to sell it off (intervene by the management of coz). doh.gif

Yes the management intervene on transfer is really sux. Well, I guess it doesnt hurt as well if the thing happened because you dont pay a single cent to get the player. I have one youngster which I dont pay a single cent and also no clause attached (normally the small club will ask for 50% of next sale if they asked for 0 transfer fee) !! I was like, wah, who say there is no FREEEE lunch in this world ?? FM had !!

I don't like the way u playing by using the what FM genie to scout the youngster with great potential and buy all of them in one sort...it doesn't make sense and it actually spoil the whole game....I depend on my scouts to scout talented players and it's my decision whether should I buy them or not...sometimes I lost few million pound bcoz invest in wrong person but heck...this is FM manager and I need to think in every single moment..it's challenging and fun....

anyways, I would like to ask u guyz...how to know how much is ur player value in the market like those scout did survey and tell u roughly how much they costs??

Yup. Thats rite... FMGenie is just like the normal scout... Its depends on your luck also coz u need to train the supposed future stars... I my self have used FMGenie and bought a lot (I really meant a lot) of 15/16 years old future stars... but yet, not every players I bought become a star....

IMHO its not a cheat.it's just the same as normal scout.this FM Genie Scout tells you how far the player can be in the next few years, but it's entirely depends on us to shape up the player.if the training is suitable, hopefully the player can develop to his best in the future laugh.gif
