oh... you are being too nice man...

you should nickname Massa to MaSucks
raikonen to drunkonen...

I'd have nothing against them, really. Massa was a former sauber driver and Kimi a former Macca and Sauber. Thus both of them had been drivers for team that I supported, so I thank them for that.

Faultless Fisi and Heikki reveal Renault`s decline
The extent of Renault's fall from grace has been summed up by Flavio Briatore declaring that both Giancarlo Fisichella and Heikki Kovalainen redeemed their woeful performances in Melbourne despite neither driver challenging for a podium during Sunday's Malaysian GP.
Although both Renaults finished in the points, with Fisi sixth and the rookie Finn in eighth, the World Champions suffered another ignominious afternoon, outpaced by BMW and Williams as well as the frontrunning McLaren and Ferrari. That Briatore, who described Kovalainen's debut display in Australia as "rubbish", could not find fault with his drivers laid bare the inadequacies of the team's R27.
"Fisico was perfect today, with a strong, consistent race, while Heikki got his first point, erased the memory of Melbourne and did an encouraging performance for himself and the team," the Renault boss confirmed. "We have achieved our maximum today, now we need to carry on working to improve our potential for the next races."
"This is our level at the moment - and we got everything possible from the race this afternoon. I think our result was the one we deserved, and there is no other answer for us than to carry on working hard to climb back to the top."

The thing about Ferrari is, you don't see them nvolved with junior Formulaes like other teams. While other teams are getting younger drivers from Junior Formulaes easily (think Vettel - BMW, Piquet JR & Heikki - Renault, Lewis - Macca), Ferrari have none. NADA.

First, Ferrari doesnt join junior Formula or whatsoever race. Secondly, Ferrari got the cash pile to buy success. MSC n Raikonen are the best example.

True, but still it's a problem when wanting to secure other drivers. looking at the grid today, if they replace Massa with any drivers on the grid that is not a young gun (2 years of F1 experience or younger), they still cannot find a driver that is better. Heck, some of the oldies out there are overrated and overpaid (case study, the "I got paid more than the world champ" Ralf Schumacher).
Nico is a good target, but he has a long term future contract, adn looking back at Buttongate, Sir frank is not who you want to negotiate contract with

Nico for Ferrari, that'll be interesting: Twin Finn driver!!! rclxm9.gif

Sorry to say this, but if you watched the grid formation and the end result, he has a german flag near his name.....

And considering Massa, was he a nobody? At the time of Rubens departure, they needed
1 - A driver that knows the team, quickly
2 - A driver that can be no 2 to Schummi
3 - A driver that can win

because of no 2, it's hard to find anyone in the current field at the time to drive for them. barring the fact that Kimi already signed a pre contract, that stated he will get equal status no matter who his teammate was, they only need to find a driver that they can rely upon if Schummi retired or can dispose to testing if Schummi did not. So the only logical choise was Massa, who had tested the car countless of times, and had the speed duirng his sauber days (Dude, tell me when did he drove for Red Bull?). Badoer or Gene? they are too unreliable and no doubt cannot find the speed to win.

Honda looking at Ross Brawn
QUOTE
Honda Racing boss Nick Fry is in talks with Ross Brawn in a bid to convince Ferrari's former technical director to join the Japanese manufacturer, autosport.com can reveal.

On the back of Honda's disastrous start to their 2007 campaign, with the RA107 suffering from major aerodynamic problems, Fry is targeting Brawn as a key appointment to resurrect his team's fortunes in the long term.

Following the departure of then technical director Geoff Willis in the middle of last year, Honda Racing have lacked leadership from someone with extensive F1 design experience. Senior technical director Shuhei Nakamoto's background is in engine design and motorbike racing.

Brawn is currently on a sabbatical from Ferrari and, although he has promised to speak to the Maranello outfit before deciding his future, sources have revealed that the Briton has no contractual obligation to rejoin his old team.

That means Brawn is free to join any outfit from the start of 2008 and, it is understood, the Briton has expressed an interest in joining Honda. It is not clear, though, just how advanced the talks with the Brackley-based team have become.

Brawn has made no secret of the fact that he eventually wants to return to Britain, having worked at Ferrari since 1996, and the challenge of turning Honda into world championship contenders would certainly provide a suitable enough challenge to stimulate him.

Autosport.com understands that the discussions between Brawn and Fry began without the pre-approval of Honda's senior management, as Fry moved unilaterally in a bid to convince Brawn on a personal level.

When asked by autosport.com, Fry refused to confirm that talks were going on, but he fell short of denying it. He said: "I've got no comment to make on that."

However, Fry did later admit that the addition of a leading technical figure like Brawn would be a huge boost to his team.

"I think every team would benefit from Ross Brawn," he said. "Whether it be us or others, but I am sure Ross has some sort of arrangement with Ferrari, so we will see."

Brawn is clearly a big attraction for any F1 team, having guided Ferrari to world championship success from 2000 to 2004.

Despite taking a sabbatical this year, it is widely believed that Brawn does want to return to F1 - with his key interest likely to be in becoming team boss at Ferrari.

In the shorter term, Honda Racing are planning to introduce a new car for the Canadian Grand Prix in a bid to turnaround their season.

Although the new car will not officially be designated a B-spec, team insiders have told autosport.com that it will likely be a complete revamp of the RA107 concept.

Work on the new car began after pre-season testing in Bahrain when the team first realised the difficulties they were in.

Fry would not confirm specific details of what was planned, but admitted that major upgrades were in the pipeline for Montreal.

When asked by autosport.com how new the car would be, he said: "That's to be established at the moment.

"We are working on a fairly extensive array of improvements but, at the moment, a lot of those are being worked on in the wind tunnel.

"Clearly there is a limit in what you can do before Canada and we will do the maximum amount, but it will only be if it works.

"There is no point in changing things for the sake of it. We need to understand why we have the problems we do and make sure they are being properly addressed.

"Changing bits of the car just to make ourselves feel good is not being very constructive, so there is a lot of work to be done."

Interesting enough to hear that during the race, Kimi reported bak to the pits saying "I have a gearbox problem", to which the team replied "You DO NOT have a gearbox problem".

It's perfectly fine to move to another team provided u do it profesionally. Without Alonso Renault wouldn't have won those championships. And he didn't go behind Flavio's back and signed a pre contract 2 years before his contract with Renault ended. He told Flavio he wanted a new challenge and McLaren obviously wanted a new driver knowing that Kimi would leave.
*
Yep, he talked to Ron after the 05' Brazillian GP that he wanted to join the team. Ron, who always wanted to emulate another Prost/Senna team (he didn't know Kimi is joining Ferrari), immediatly agreed. At the end of the season, Fernando told Flavio, and while Flav wanted Fernando to stay, he can do nothing. The fact that we knew it early is because it was leaked by some reporter, and Ron, being Ron, don't want some obsecure newspaper beat him and release a full press statement.

Fernando: Ferrari is still faster
QUOTE
Fernando Alonso is well aware that Ferrari won't take the Malaysian GP defeat lying down and expects a fightback in Sunday's Bahrain race.

Despite having, arguably, the fastest car on the grid at the Malaysian Grand Prix, Ferrari lost out to the McLarens on the opening lap of the race and from there on struggled to cope.

Alonso, though, doesn't believe Sunday's win means McLaren are now the team to beat as he concedes Ferrari do, at least for now, have the fastest car on the grid.

Asked how he predicts the Bahrain GP will pan out, the reigning F1 Champion said: "It is difficult to know.

"I think there will not be big changes in the cars between here and there because there are only four days between the races, so the cars will not be developed, so we should again be competitive.

"But the Ferrari was a little bit quicker than everybody in the test so I still believe it will be very, very hard to beat them again so I think we will have again a difficult weekend."

However, his team boss Ron Dennis has vowed to do all he can to ensure that Alonso and Hamilton have the pace needed to challenge the Ferraris for the victories and, ultimately, the World titles.

"We will try to come to Bahrain with a lap time improvement and we will certainly be in Spain with a significant lap time improvement, and we will do everything we can to win both world championships," he told Autosport.

"But there is an awful long way to go yet and this is the second race. We are under no illusions."

I know, he drove for sauber the next season. He was an Arrows driver years before, but lost his seat. I also remember him at Tyrell, but that was long ago I think

It seems that he don't want to push during his second stint, and told his engineers that he had gearbox problem.

Added on April 11, 2007, 12:31 amHonda Giving Up on RA107
Honda's ghastly start to the 2007 season looks set to lead to drastic changes within the team, including an all-new car in time for the Canadian Grand Prix.

Following on the heels of news that Honda are eager to sign Ferrari's technical director Ross Brawn, whose future is currently up in the air, comes the news that Nick Fry is keen to introduce a new car and restructure the team's personnel.

Honda have struggled with the aerodynamic package of their RA107, which is unstable under braking and hard on its rear tyres. And although the team has tried changes to both the rear and the front, their terrible form continued in Malaysia.

With little sign of improvement or ways for Honda to up the pace of the RA107, The Times reports that the team is now looking to introduce an all-new car in time for mid-June's Canadian GP. According to one report, the new car will be "a complete revamp of the RA107 concept."

Jenson Button hinted at the work going on, saying: "There's a lot happening back at the factory. It's actually very exciting.

"It's not a position any of us want to be in - so far back - but it's really exciting back at the base. There is so much going on, so many new ideas, so many things going into the wind tunnel.

"It's all very positive. It's a pity we didn't realise earlier what our issues were."

The changes, though, won't stop there.

The newspaper reports that Fry has proposed a new structure that would 'create a fully integrated British-based team at the factory in Brackley and do away with the present set-up whereby about 550 people work in Britain while a further 250 engineers and experts in aerodynamics are working on related projects in Japan.

'It is understood that Fry has put this politically sensitive plan to senior management in Tokyo.'

I thought his manager's name was Campos?
And I thought that McLaren had always used the British's national anthem. Even in teh FIA it's registered as a british team. Heck, Renault did not use French national anthem when they win, they still uses british. News report seems to be retarted seeing that it was an issue only after McLaren had won. If McLaren lost, there won't be this issue

It's more of Schumacher, not Ferrari. Bild was the only paper Schumacher will talk to, and they have problem with him not being on the grind anymore this season. That and the fact that they will be hearing any more German anthem unless BMW win or the attrition is high enough for Ralph to get the win

Hmm, if modern F1 cars jumps over crest like the ones in the video here, they will surely break their suspension laugh.gif

at the end of the video there is a clip of Senna's pole at Monaco in '88
what is interesting is that he made a mistake out of the hairpin, going too fast and had to do an opposite lock, and there was a backmarker blocking him after the swimming pool section, and yet he was nearly 1 second faster then ALain prost that day
