core temp and TAT temp reading is different. Becoz core temp's reading always lower 5-6 degree. Just open another TAT and compare yourself. TAT is more accurate becoz TAT is design by Intel itself for Intel proc and mobo.

how to play with ram timing?

Dont need to run so tight if run 24/7, CL-5 is good enough

@Evogenix
u think porc week will affect o'c result a lot??

personal opinion. Nope.
I saw a lot of oc-ed results from the same weeks/batches. But, the results seem kinda not consistant at all.
Some ppl just believe into those weeks theories. No comment on that. All based on your self.

Normally, e6300 can reach min of 3.0GHz with closing eyes. If wanna oc above of that, need to see how good is your proc can be oc-ed. Sometime, vCore must applied to increase the oc-ing as well.

Evogenix
*
Ya mine is over 3Ghz (can see my sign).. after reach tht clock speed add vCore or vFSB/vMCH also no use. So frustrated.. but nothing more i can do.
If E6400 i think have higher potential to hit 3.6Ghz.

kenot go higher?  sweat.gif not a good proc or ur mobo is limting u  sweat.gif
mine can go up to 450x7..more than need very high vcore wic is not good for 24/7 usage i believe...tats y i play wif 400x7 + undervolt wif current setup tongue.gif
*
it should be proc tht bottleneck my oc..
Not all E6300 can reach 450fsb, as u can see from lyn or foreign o'c board.
How much vCore u feed to hit 450 ?? Agree with u, its really not good for 24/7.. last time i also play undervolt.

QUOTE(Evogenix @ Dec 12 2006, 11:12 PM)
yes, got a large percentage can reach 3.5GHz above with e6400
But, if wanna get e6400, rather go for e6600 with the extra caches.

Every cent that spent on that extra caches are worth it.

Evogenix
*
Yes... E6600 is better. But i think its becoz of higher multiplier for oc. The extra 2mb caches only make less than 5% of performance difference.
I cant afford E6600 sweat.gif can only buy E6400 after i sold my E6300. I just need top up RM50 only sweat.gif

im not sure.. but i saw many E6400 can easily hit 3.5Ghz or more.
If only compare the clock speed, then E6400 sure can reach higher clock.
Frankly said, performance diff between E6600>E6400>E6300 can see from Super Pi is 1-2 second different.. maybe big difference in benchmark (can say small too)but cant feel diff in normal use. Anyway its quite subjective too. sweat.gif

Price/perf ratio i think E6400>E6300 if can buy from Bulk.

Dont need to set vCore to the lowest point.. as long as your core temp is below 55C during o'c then should be quite good d...
I undervolt becoz dont wanna stress my proc too much, not becos of trying to achive lower core temp.

My target (maximum) is E6300@ 2.8GHz.......with 2GB RAM
What is the cheapest solution?????

Must the RAM run at 800Mhz to achieve 2.8GHz on CPU or i can run my RAM at 667Mhz but still achieve 2.8GHz on CPU????

very new to overclocking.....
*
Yes, u must o'c your RAM to 800Mhz. Set the RAM multiplier to 2x,
become 400x 2 = 800Mhz.

QUOTE(vassalle @ Dec 19 2006, 12:46 AM)
guys, is there any risk of me undervolting my processor?

worst case, my rig wont pass orthos rite? the 'excessively' low vcore wont 'harm' my e6300 in any way rite?

right now trying to run 400x7 @ 1.175v. observed trend is that my idle temp drops like 1c every 2 notches (i think 2 notch = 0.125v) in the bios setup.
*
No harm.. atleast wont burn the proc rite brows.gif
Yup same like mine, down 2 notch lower 1-2C

Got my Biostar 965PT today laugh.gif , used Gigabye b4. Frankly say 965PT looks'inferior' if compare with S3. Everything especially socket, North/south bridge sink and even the cable. All looks cheapo lol.
But this board comes with 2 yrs full warranty and hv good o'c interface drool.gif
Will try to o'c it soon. Hope can get good result blush.gif
