Maybank just released their counter rates :-

1) USDMYR = 4.2550, Public Bank's rate is better.
2) AUDMYR = 3.2440, Maybank's rate is better.

Let's take out current scenario,... say for Maybank, say for the AUD :_

Interbank rate = AUDMYR = 3.1764.

Maybank's counter rate = 3.2440.

The difference in the above is 676 basis points. How close to the Interbank rate do you think a rate given by Maybank's Treasury Dept can reach ?

Don't know,... I track only Maybank's and PBB's for Msian banks...

Up till now, sad to say.... I really don't see any sign that the MYR will appreciate sufficiently for us to 'exit',.... So, Budget got no 'juice' for the MYR this year,....

I noticed that the MYR keeps gaining on the USD and on the AUD this evening,... in the graphs, there are lower highs and lower lows,... do you see the same thing ??

Could it be this time round,... the MYR will perform a slow rise in its strength ? Unlike last year after the budget ann't, it shot up abruptly, then die down two or three days later,.... If it's going to rise slowly within the next few days,.. then better wait before changing more,....

Fundamentals are all pointing towards further weakening of the MYR,... any strengthening would be due to some short term sentiments only, which we should try to capitalise upon to get hold of foreign currencies,... what do you think ?

MYR strengthened overnight BUT weakened when Msia started today,... must be somebody here commented on something again,...

Err,... not really, bro,... if the USD weakens, then USDMYR will fall, main reason is because the USD weakens, and NOT because the MYR strengthens.

I don't need to buy the USD, I needed to buy another currency, hence, I needed the MYR to strengthen universally across all major currencies. I am going after a cross rate here, bro,...

By the way,... even if DT does not win on Nov 8th., he will create havoc in the US. This is enough to upset the mkts and cause the mkts to fall. This is what I will be waiting for.

If we say USD strengthens, then 1 USD will be able to buy more MYR.

If we say USD weakens, then it means 1 USD being able to buy lesser MYR !
