QUOTE(kimi @ Apr 5 2007, 07:39 AM) i think im too slow at turn 11, clueless getting the right line, entry - gear and speed. Kimi...i had some prob before too....but now i can be abit more consistent thru turn 11...update my email pls: kimi133@gmail.com tomorrow is holiday here, so i hope can put in some practice time. this weekend Sepang F1GP - already missed 3 years in a row. since we dun give much support - poor attendance - bernie start lookin elsewhere, or maybe bernie just disappointed our grid girls wear too much clothing It is massively depends on how u come from the previous turn which is a high speed left hander. I personally keep the car flat before reaching the geometric apex of turn 11, turn my car to the right towards the exit apex and squeeze the throttle from there on as soon as possible to get as high speed as i can get at the end of the backstraight. Watch how Redline takes the line on last week race...he is MEGA through there... |

Sorry guys for my absentees in the previous test race. My broadband got some problems. Seems my connection stabilized as for now.
As far as the race schedule I hope we can get full attendance. I have done a quick new setup on race last night. I have a good setup but my tyres wear very quickly as the temperature rise is uncontrollable. I can get 2.08.9 lap 1, lap2 2.08.7 lap 3 2.08.5 and after that maintaining 2.08 throughout for several laps until I see the tires temp rose up to nearly 130 degrees and make my car skidding all across the tarmac. Will work around that problem and share the setup if you guys badly in need of one. I know madnoren for sure doesn't need one as he has ace in his sleeve. I can manage a 2.08 flat...but few mistakes in some areas...which i cant rectify nor can i replicate that time....let alone improve n make it into the 2.07 zone....So what about you have you manage to break into 2.07? I have a question, does rake angle have any effect on downforce for these cars? Ive thought abt the same thing....but keeping the rake to 1.5cm or the most 1.0cm between front and back....IMHO i havent noticed if rake does or doesnt affect the downforce on these cars. im keeping the textbook value for now, with the understanding of not having too little rake or else itll create drag along a straight coz the front is getting higher and higher....if ure a heavy braker....the nose will dive thus create imbalance into the turn in. But if ure a smooth braker u'll survive. But personally i would like to keep the nose vertical travel to a minimum, no matter what the rake is. Whats Redline and the others think abut this? Ryugan? Sabelt? I smell a suprise... |

Dont think i can break below 2:10 during the race and qualifying. 2:11-2:12 target time would be good enough for me.
Didnt hold the steering much at all since the test race. Wishing all front runners good luck. Will be racing at my own pace. |

Sometimes you are just quick and you knew it. As for me the handling of these cars are unique and requires a lot of time to understand its characteristics.
You can go soft spring with high pressure tyres with huge amount of cambers or you can go stiff spring low pressure less camber and it produces the same handling characteristics but different wear. As for the downforce, since the car feels heavy you can't really get the feeling immediately. Normally on a car such as this downforce is used as a measure of finetuning the handling. The first criteria for better handling as far as I observe always the mechanical side of things. Changing these settings affect the handling tremendously. You see I can do testing just for the sake of understanding rake effect on downforce, but I don't have much time so I wonder if anyone have tested running different rake angle with the same setup. Maranello I'm much more of a smooth braker, I always go for slow in and fast out. When smooth braking you can modulate the car better and you rarely missed the apex and you can have all the spaces you need on the exit therefore timing the kerb to perfection is way way easier. However when it comes to certain corners, where there is no straight after that, I always hard brake since the entry is more important than the exit. I feel when you reach some level of control comfort, all you need is that little extra grip and I believe there is nothing more you can do unless you change the setup to correct only the part of the area you struggle. This Sunday is our 1st GP.
I suppose we're using default car skins? It's not that I'm complaining about it...just curious This post has been edited by Raikkonen: Apr 6 2007, 08:34 AM |

QUOTE(PCcrazy @ Apr 6 2007, 03:17 AM) Sometimes you are just quick and you knew it. As for me the handling of these cars are unique and requires a lot of time to understand its characteristics. Yeap...I find it very adventerous playing with this v8 cars. I usually opt for stiff springs and low tyre pressure coz of the pressure build up during the race. With stiff spring and low tyre pressure it means the suspension is pressing the tyres on the road harder and more rubber contact with the track since it has low pressure...so more grip....but i'll go back and forth motec to make sure im not underflating. and hope with this available grip at a start of a run, i can push to get temp and pressure up to the golden lap. The prob with stiff suspension, especially with the front, is that the car will understeer more into the race and handling characteristics will change. This is the area that i always struggle. I always move the brake bias towards the back where there is more rubber and preserving the front tyres a bit during braking. And bracing myself for a different beast during braking. Sabelt....its just another approach to the race, doesnt mean that ure not the front runners...there are no front runners yet coz the race havent started...so nice try being humble...LOL PCcrazy, yup...i have no time to do further testing also...i mean learning something new about the car. Currently just acclimitasing myself to the setup. I stopped tweaking long time ago coz i wont know how fast have i gotten coz i lost track of the changes on the setup. Some F1 names says that the fastest guy in a team always the one who fix their driving, not their setup. Well, it was correct back then during the 60's....i dunno how it applies today. Your approach towards cornerning is the same like mine...but ure a better master in doing it. Abt braking, Sepang doesnt actually need you to brake alot...even at the final hairpin and into turn1....its a nice flowing track...so too much braking will affect the flow thus the lap time.. About extra grip, i always stare at the friction circle and as long as everything is symetrical, then im happy...even though i dont really know what it means. Most of this are all textbook stuff....nothing really new. Yeap i boast alot...sorry. Evo...thanks for the newsletter! Great addition to our league! |

Aku buat thread kat RaceSimCentral pasal rFactor ada hujan, pastu developer dia post nie
QUOTE(Scott_J) Yes, that IS rF, yes it IS raining now, and yes it IS still very much WIP. But in the most recent version the FPS is already a lot better. As for the track--I had fun putting it together. I never cared much for this track, but I think this version is very fun to drive (or maybe it just grew on me while I was working on it And, to quote Forrest Gump, "That's all I care to say about that...." |
