sure. another comitment is indeed a hastle. then again, keep paying for repairs and more important, the reability of ur car?

whats if there energency n it broke down?
*
no guarantees with a new car / another used car, that the car won't have problem right?
my friends who bought new VW, Mazda and Honda has issues within 6 months.. but of course under warranty (FOC repairs/replacements)..

so i guess when it comes to emergency case, it wont make any difference here?

still the percentage comparing brand spanking new to almost 10 year old car? well i guess no point convincing u. good luck i hope u wont learn it the hard way icon_rolleyes.gif
*
actually this is the first i'm having all these issues.. it occurred early june sweat.gif
prior to this, no issue, as i do timely servicing (twice a year)..
so that's why i believe there's no need to change car yet, unless the fixes required is beyond price of the car itself..
I did considered getting another car, but after finding out the cost of it, i find it's not really worth breaking my wallet just for some convenience..

no need drive the car to wherever the recommended mechanic is la.

Car insurance usually come with emergency service which includes FREE towing.

just call the emergency service, say car broke down kenot move, ask for towing, give your location and the recommended mechanic's location.

kaotim.
*
yaya in this case, actually wanna ask, if frequent call for Free towing, will i get blacklisted in the future?
I called tow 3 times ady so far, week after week..

Depend on perception lo
1 mth adi spent rm2k repair
How much to spend further?

Better cash out now n buy a cheap car 30-40k
*
this 1 mth is the first month.. cashing out on this car, also still need to repair it before selling..
So regardless of buying a new car or not, still need to repair this car, right?

Sell to 2nd hand shop
No question asked
Cash on the spot
*
lol so far i checked, the amount is not worth it though, 10-12k je..

if just want to sell the car to them, they don't want take myvi.. cos it's 1.0 manual and it's 9 yo
if trade in to buy another car, then they'll consider.. but interest rate is higher than buying new car, and max only 5 years..
available cars within 30-40k is another perodua myvi (slightly newer than my car) or vios-equivalent about 9 yo or older..

for new cars, cheapest sedan is saga, cheapest hatchback is axia..
they accept trade in, but the price given is lower than the 2nd hand shop..

so conclusion, not worth it.

Finally, my myvi back from the workshop! smile.gif

apparently, there's quite a number of things that went bonkers..
1. Timing sensor
2. Drive shaft
3. Cam shaft
4. Cam sensor
5. Main Fuse
6. Ignition coil
7. Aircond pump

Others are still working fine, thanks for everyone's input here! I made sure I asked them on the areas mentioned by you guys! thumbup.gif

ya lo..take this as a lesson and motivation to learn stuff about engines and how it works..the first time i see jerking issue; already suspect spark plug / ignition coil issue, which will lead to issues with camshafts and valve. the first mechanic really don't know how to check leh.

at the same time lots of parts kong, you need to be prepared to replace any aging parts that will break down anytime. make sure flush the coolants and service the compressor. replace the v belt if never change before.

P/S: full overhaul costs around 3k+, which is why usually i recommend top overhaul or full overhaul instead of slowly repairing by trial and error. now already cost you about 2k. and this is just myvi =(
*
2 workshops mentioned that the car don't need overhaul yet. But yes, i'll need to be more aware of the other parts, when i go fix the aircond pump, i'll get the guys there to check out the coolant, compressor and belt too.. thumbup.gif

plug RM40
main fuse RM18
camshaft sensor RM185
ignotion coil (RM220/pcs) RM660
aircond compressor (recond) RM430
aircond condenser RM290
aircond gas RM60
lost the receipt with the drive shaft, timing sensor, etc.. that is about RM800

i don't und how ur problem relate to aircond and all. previously air cond got problem meh? if none means the workshop chop u d.
*
the aircond compressor actually as been faulty, and because of that, it has been drawing power away from the engine..
everytime i rev up to 3k rpm (before shifting gears) when going uphill, it will have a pull-back feel.. after changing the aircond compressor, that issue no longer persist..

At first i thought that is normal, but i asked and tried my friend's myvi 1.0, found out they didn't have this problem..
so i got it checked out, and was told of this aircond compressor issue..

QUOTE(makky @ Jul 9 2016, 07:41 PM)
Check your fuel pump and filter, for around 2.5k u can replace recon engine lo.
*
i don't think that's possible.. a new engine easily cost up to 5k, and plus the hassle of getting approval from jpj.. rclxub.gif
btw replacement of engine still wouldnt solve the issue yet, but after doing all the items mentioned, the car is much better now..
only left is the engine mounting, in which can be done at a later stage smile.gif

not necessarily bro. if your aircond was cold and no issues except pulling power; then its not totally compressor issue. could be the pulley's issue that needs servicing aka lubrication, pulley replacement etc. most workshops will just tell u it's faulty. reason being, more revenue and profit, plus replacing is easier than repairing a part.
*
ohhh.. i didn't know that.. okok noted on this..
Currently it's not facing any issue like pulling power, metal cranking or engine stopping..
Will need to ask another mechanic to check on this the next time i send for service..

Thanks! notworthy.gif

damn that's quite a list man. it's like you're driving a korean or something.  sweat.gif
*
haha ya wei, didn't expect that.. but seeing that it's the first time in 9 years that I had to replace so many parts, i think it's alright..
Surprisingly though, the previous service centres i went, none of them told me that these parts were wearing off..

QUOTE(GoldenHorn @ Jul 11 2016, 12:34 PM)
Damn the list so long...takut pula sweat.gif

But then after 9 years using, spend 3k to replace everything i think much more cost productive then change parts by parts

Hopefully everything went good for u TS
*
Now all is good, *fingers crossed* Thanks!
Next thing is just the engine mounting that needs to be replaced, but that's not in a hurry yet..
