Well actually, i have US 12 months reload card which cannot be used on my US account on my US machine, as well as a couple of US 1250 MS Points that also cannot be used. It fails the code verification every time i entered it into Live. Trying now with the Asian MS Point card im about to get from GH.

Regarding the 12 month reload cards, apparently there are 2 types. One can only be used for NEW accounts, and another can be used for normal accounts. I saw one seller on eBay mentioning that his 12-month card for sale can only be used for NEW accounts, hence this conclusion.

Okay, i've tested GH's 1600 MS Point card Asian version, and it works on my 360! Going there now to get 5 more!

I missed out on all those nice Live Arcade stuff, plus im not taking any chances on future usability of the casrds, should the future cards go through more complications later. Gurdian bro, mine is a full-fledged US account on US locale, on a US Xbox 360. that's my configuration anyway. an MS Point Asian 1600 points card costs RM89. at GH. Im outta here, going to get my cards now, before going to Frankfurt tonight!

This further strengthened the rumor that cards now are based on region and IP address/physical location of where your Xbox 360 is, NOT on which account it is registered under. What i mean is, although the account is registered under US, but the physical location of the console as well as the IP address of the console when loggin into Live from, determines which card is usable for that console. There had been a thread on Xbox.com forum regarding requests from US servicemen working abroad, in military bases and ports where they are located, that they cant get to use their US-based credit cards, nor inputting card codes from their relatives who bought the card back home from the States and posting them the codes , not working on their consoles. I guess MS now is giving them a break for letting them use local region cards, which extends that same courtesy to other US-registered accounts as well.

I was already giving up hope on using the cards i bought off DVDBoxoffice when all of them are rejected as invalid. My only hope at that time was waiting for my roster to schedule me to go to New York, bring this goddamned 360 with me, log it in from there, and redeem the cards there. I have a 12 months Gold subscription card as well as 3 US 1250 MS Points card unusable here. Thank God for GH and the Asian MS Points card working on mine.

Those who had registered and subscribed to a US account 12 months Live subscription via credit card need not worry, although your credit card now is blocked from buying points via your 360, your credit card is autodebited whenever your Live subscription is about to end. I got the the courtesy email from Xbox Live stating my credit card is being charged for another 12 month cycle and it went on smoothly from there onwards.

gee..nice info bros. but as TS asked, when u upgraded to gold via cc, and if u choose not to renew, would it downgrade to silver, or it'll be an unusable gold? just wanna know if i'll be able to download stuff even if i dont want to renew gold.

I am in the process of getting my Paypal registered. After that I will get some $$$ into my Paypal account and buy a card off Ebay. Initially I wanted to get from Amazon, but they don't support Paypal.

To those who register with Credit Card, MS has stated very clearly in their FAQ that there is NO WAY to unregister. You're bound for life. Hehehe...

OKAY! UPDATE!

After what seems like an eternity, I have finally renewed my Xbox Live Gold subscription successfully with a so called "US code". I bought the code off eBay and paid approx. RM173.20.

To those who want to get the 12 month cards, this is what you can do...
1) Register with PayPal
2) Register with eBay
3) Get some PayPal dollars (check Garage Sales)
4) Bid/Buy item on eBay
5) Pay with PayPal

That's all there is to it!

Alternatively, if you DON'T have a PayPal account, you can send money to me and I can arrange it for you.

Umm...if you've activated your trial, there's no way of changing your location unless you make a new profile.

I prefer US. They've got more content that I want. The latest content on the asian market is just some stupid asian music video...bah.
