GTX1080 or any current generation cards still can't handle recent AAA titles @ 4K very high/ultra settings smoothly @60fps average +. At best, only good for 1440p.
I'll wait for 2-3 generations more

Aiyaaa, jangan tunggu lama-lama. True that a single GTX 1080 can't handle AAA games max out everything (even SLI also can struggle). Unless you plan to play only the existing game when after waiting to get the next 2 or 3 generation cards, then no point. GPU power vs game complexity is like catch 22. As GPU get more powerful, game developers will always find ways to cramp in more more complex graphics technology, and then it evens out again.

Just imagine, GTX 780 Ti launch in Nov 2013 for USD 699. It was the king back then, but can only do 40 fps BF4 4K. Look at what GTX 1080 can do with old 2013 game, 75 fps.

And what GTX 1080 can only manage with current game. And 3 years from now, don't be suprise that GTX 1080 will sit somewhere down the graph, struggling against its successor and more complex higher res game, just like his forefather is today.

I'm using a 40 inch 4k monitor. Anything less than 4k won't look sharp (too low PPI). Higher resolution is more practical for bigger displays IMHO.
Well actually your 40" 4K monitor 110.15 ppi is only slightly better than, say Acer Predator X34 Ultrawide 1440P 34" monitor which has 109.68 ppi. So if sitting say roughly 2 feet away, the sharpness is almost the same. Most 4K PC monitor here comes in at 28", which is 157.35 ppi. And the most beautiful monitor is the iMac Retina 27" 5120 x 2880 which has 217.57 ppi.
