What is dropping price?
Where where?
*
someone linked some shop selling asus strix oc as a promo price below msrp hmm.gif u can scroll back the page where it was posted.

anyway you mean this? smile.gif

Acer XB271HU: 27-inch 1440p 144Hz IPS G-SYNC Monitor
finally high refresh rate, no ghosting, low latency input, gsync and ips panel drool.gif

QUOTE
Response time on the XB271HU is 4ms (GtG), brightness is 350 Nit (cd/m2) and the contrast ratio is 1000:1. It can produce up to 16.7 colors (8-bit, most likely 6-bit+FRC to emulate 8-bit) and features two 2W in-built speakers. It also covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut, just like the two other XB1 series gaming monitors.

not 10bit, and ips technology is associated with some ips glow ... but i think this is an acceptable compromise considering the other alternatives have their own pros and cons, and the Acer XB271HU comes out on top on many of the pros in comparison.

acer in the past didn't really have a good rep. but lately their laptops (nitro series) and monitors (predator..) have been getting good reviews smile.gif

I might be wrong but it's not HDR monitor right? But I'd agree it's a very good monitor for gaming.

Personally waiting for the Acer X34P to hit our shores (if it ever does).

I prefer 100hz out of the box and I don't think I can go back to 27" without the extra wide screen estate I get from 4K currently. tongue.gif

Almost everywhere is out of stock for MSI cards.

I'll just wait for Christmas and hope they got good Christmas deals for the cards and get it as a Christmas present for myself.

Already no mood to get the card now since birthday already past 1 week ago. Badly wanted to get it as a birthday present.

Just now wanted to buy a tissot watch as a birthday present but the guy told me no stock.

If there is one thing to hate about retailers, it's the words "NO STOCK".

MSI GTX 1080 really in high demand. I wanted to get the MSI Gaming X too, but no stock anywhere, so ended up buying Gigabyte G1 Gaming.

What a relief and I stand corrected, Pascal does improve with DX12 Async Compute feature (at least with GTX 1070 confirmed, eagerly waits for GTX 1080 results to trickle in). May not be as high as the percentage increase gained by AMD GPUs, but for me looks significant enough, and will get better as Pascal is still relatively new. As for Maxwell, pretty much what I thought will happen when I decided to sell my GTX 970.

thanks for your previous long writeup thumbsup.gif refreshing to get an unbiased view from Nvidia owner, yea i understand how it feels for budget tight people. i guess you were right with the decision to sell too, 1070 is a good leap forward if one can afford it. would've liked to see how 980ti fared, as i've seen it gained FPS compared to 970, how how the lower end cards like 960/950 perform. Pascal seems to make much better gains so no need to worry.

Just pull my trigger on Palit GTX1070 Jetstream from Occasin for 1.7k. Seller is quite responsive in facebook so will hope for the best. Meanwhile, I'm in for the 1070 club, cant wait for 1060 no more biggrin.gif

Today Futuremark is releasing a new benchmark that focuses on DX12 gaming. No longer just a feature test, Time Spy is a fully baked benchmark with its own rendering engine and scenarios for evaluating the performance of graphics cards and platforms. It requires Windows 10 and a DX12-capable graphics card, and includes two different graphics tests and a CPU test. Oh, and of course, there is a stunningly gorgeous demo mode to go along with it.

Let’s start with the positive results here, in particular with AMD hardware. Both Fiji and Polaris see sizeable gains with the inclusion of asynchronous compute. The Fury X is 12.89% faster with async enabled, the R9 Nano is 11.06% faster and the RX 480 is 8.51% faster. This backs up AMD’s claims that the fundamental architecture design of GCN was built for asynchronous compute, with dedicated hardware schedulers (two in the case of Polaris) included specifically for this purpose.

NVIDIA’s Pascal based graphics are able to take advantage of asynchronous compute, despite some AMD fans continuing to insist otherwise. The GeForce GTX 1080 sees a 6.84% jump in performance with asynchronous compute enabled versus having it turned off. The gap for the GTX 1070 is 5.42%. The scaling is less than we saw on both Fiji and Polaris from AMD, which again indicates that AMD has engineered GCN around asynchronous compute more than NVIDIA has with Pascal.

QUOTE
Now, let’s talk about the bad news: Maxwell. Performance on 3DMark Time Spy with the GTX 980 and GTX 970 are basically unchanged with asynchronous compute enabled or disabled, telling us that the technology isn’t being integrated. In my discussion with NVIDIA about this topic, I was told that async compute support isn’t enabled at the driver level for Maxwell hardware, and that it would require both the driver and the game engine to be coded for that capability specifically.

but basically the amds got some of the best gains in performance with async enabled, but that said, the nvidia camp still out fps regardless bruce.gif *looking at 1070 and 1080 vs RX480

PS: will have to wait on the 1060 to be added into the chart to compare against RX480
