Wii -> component -> component converter -> LCD?
Wii -> composite -> vga box -> LCD?

I aware its "possible". My question is how good or how bad is the end result?

I thought the wii video output is a composite cable? If it is, I thought i can just connect directly to my 20 inch dell that got composite input. Can the wii owner confirm this? cos i am planning to get wii soon and want to connect to my monitor.

yes, you can. 2 gatherings ago, 1 of our forumer - corez, did hook up sihumchai's wii to his 24" dell LCD. No problem.

good or bad... I can't answer you, as I didn't attend the gathering. But I did remember some1 did attend, and think the graphics is nice.

but again, it's subjective to individuals standards/preferences/yimjimness.

Wii's default video output is composite(you can get component), that is correct, if the Dell you're refering to supports composite, then it's likely that it will work. But the last time me and Corez hooked the system up was with component.

Not too sure, never seen/hear/read anyone using that method.

i previously used to connect my Nintendo Wii to my Dell 24 inch (2407WFP) monitor. the graphics is just the same like when you connect it to any lcd tv.

about the VGA box, i also have not seen anyone tried that too

as far as i can tell, i did not detect any kind of lag, ghosting or shadows whatever (probably i'm not that particular about graphic - as long as i can play my games and the graphic is acceptable, i do not care)

so all i can say is, it is a good monitor but it will suffer the same problem like any other lcd monitor - backlight bleeding.

below is a picture taken when i got my replacement monitor from dell. the left is the new monitor that i got, and the right one is the old monitor (i used it for less than 3 weeks)

notice the difference? and right now, this monitor suffers the same problem. it can be a bit irritating when you watch movies and the screen should be all black but because of the backlight bleeding, you see some white spots. (you should expect this when the contrast ratio is 1000:1 and as far as i know, no LCD monitor have contrast ratio larger than 2000:1)

i still consider it a good buy.

md avice to wii players is to just get a edtv for your wii.. playing it on hdtv just doesn't look as nice with mucky visuals.. (not too bad if the game supports 480p but not great either)

for me, the effect is like looking at a "chun" babe through fogged up greasy glasses

I'm not sure if anyone had posted this but most people uses this to play consoles on their monitor.

X2VGA

The only down side of this VGA box is that it doesn't fully support 480i. So if you want to play games (like Rayman) which only supports 480i, you are screwed ... but then again games nowadays will support 480p

IMO it's a lot better to find a monitor that supports S-video, composite, or component rather than using a vga box. Saves you a lot of hassle

For wii user want 2 connect 2 pc, I can recommend "HD Box Pro". Can find the product review at bbs.wiichina.com(chinese forum). I think this vgabox is so far the best for Wii, coz it support from 480i-1080p. Or can choose XCM V-Box, easy to use, can find at play-asia. Any vgabox question can ask me, i will help u all as much as I can.

no need 2 connect 2 pc, just straight forwards 2 connect 2 CRT or LCD thru VGA Box like HD Box Pro. It got input n output signal.
