Even 6 mil is considered borderline for smooth operation of the power windows. 7mil is surely out.

And why would u want 7mil anyway? Security is not determined solely by the thickness but by the puncture strength of the film. If u have a tint with low break/puncture strength then putting on more layers wont do much good except retard the power windows.

Thanks for your comment notworthy.gif
Because 7Mil is the highest security tint spec. in term of IRR and TSER from Cannycool tint shop.
If someone here comment 7 Mil given a problem. Eventually will stick to 6Mil security tint.

My SA claims it would spoil the brake pedal if remote engine start was being used as the pedal would press and depress.

For those who wants a rough estimate of 3M tints, I've tinted my car with crystalline 60 fws, scotchshield 40 sides, crystalline 40 rws for 2880
*
Why didn't you go for Nano40 for the sides for that kind of price? Mind taking the front and rear ws of your car pls biggrin.gif

Don't always just rely on TSER or IRR specs but also look at reputation of the tint from users. Many lower grade tints suffer from heat soak and TSER drops significantly after 5 mins being exposed to solar energy. My personal experience is Huper Optik C70 is as such. From a reputable manufacturer, good specs but in real world can feel heat radiation onto your face in a hot day. Glass is soaking hot to the touch as well.

Also there is no standardised way to measure TSER i.e angle of light beam and for how long etc.

Also some tints achieve high TSER by being more reflective and shiny in nature. I like the deep non reflective hue of the window color as it's very classy in my opinion. Also harder for tint makers to develop a tint with low reflectance but great sustainable heat rejection. That's what differentiates premium tints over the rest.

I would strongly advise u not to take any tint with <95% IRR for the side windows. U will suffer on hot days. Don't forget our temperature is rising by the day thanks to climate change. In a few yrs time experiencing 37-38 deg will be a normal daily occurrence in Malaysia.

Those who are familiar with he route to sg buloh should know; how the route is always is during after working hours.

As usual I was on my way back and stuck in the same daily jam from the KTM area under the flyover toward kuala selangor direction (every weekdays it will jam till 7 plus)

As i was on a stop and go situation behind the Myvi; all sudden without any alert (no braking is heard; no honk is heard... nothing...) and BAM... the car arse has lift off and my car for force push forward. I immediately grab hold tightly of the steering wheel and press on the brake screaming the F word as I hit the front Myvi.....

Next think I know.. I came out of my car; saw the lady in front which was pregnant... I'm telling her.. you're lucky.. nothing happens to you...
I cannot say to the guy behind me as I was walking towards the back and I saw the intense damage my car was in and his Wira which was 1 car away from me.

Slowly the driver came out of the car and apologizing saying he was avoiding a motorcyclist which causes him to redirect his car from turning left out to the middle lane and right into my car which was stationary on the fast lane.

Imagine that.... it might be true but for this person who is driving home the same road everyday would know this direction will jam and from the impact.. he was TOTALLY speeding like HELL....

the rest... well my picture had show:-
1. The impact really hit the dedicated crumple zone
2. So far main body chassis still intact; but I cannot say the same to the rear side chassis and front fender chassis
3. My car totally save the pregnant lady - Imagine what happen to my Civic happen to her...

Lastly; yes... I'm frustrated for a 7 days old car.... to be ended up like this....... sad.gif

Now... let see what can Honda Body & Paint can do for me... as I read it here
http://www.repairerdrivennews.com/2015/11/...for-steel-cars/

the damage parts are non-repairable and only to be replace.

sad to hear and thank god you're ok along with the lady in front of you. Was wondering what happen to the car, when my friend show me the picture of your car that was smashed D:

Even if you go for the best tint, but if your car is dark in colour like Black, the car body will absorb the heat easily. Just use the remote start more often to cool down

Well they quoted me for Nano on the sides instead of scotchshield for 2.6k. Scotchshield is 4mil, supposingly the newer of 3M security films compared to Nano which is only 3mil.

Sure, I'll get the pictures tomorrow morning.

Do u guys think which is the best guide choosing the tint? IRR or TSER. Most of the local tint shop only talk about IRR, instead of TSER, which i think should be more comprehensive value in heat rejection.
