I'm driving a 1995 B14 Sentra, got it used in 2000. Still running fine as I take very good care of the engine... Spent a LOT of money fixing up tons of old problems left over by an ignorant previous owner... Performance is still good except that the fuel consumption has gone up over the years... 40 litres of fuel can only give me 360km max (conservative driving)...

hmm.. so nothing can be done to improve it's FC? Part upgrade or part change perhaps?
*
I've tried... Changed sparkplugs to Denso Iridiums, Ultra plug cables (completely useless), Silver's E-Power voltage stabilizer (this is good), GC E68 Twin Power Intake System (was giving good FC in the beginning, now it's just crap)...

Other than that, I just started using one of the best performance oil lubricant available in the market, MOTUL... Can feel improvements in power and torque, engine runs a lot quieter too... But MOTUL is damn expensive... RM70+ for a 4-litre mineral grade 15W40... sweat.gif

GC E68 Twin Power Intake System? What's this? The air intake system? Did you try cleaning the filters? I'm no expert in cars but I've always wondered what causes the FC in cars to change over time.

Yea, MOTUL is expensive. I use it for my bike as well, almost RM38 per bottle (1 1/2 litres each time). But counting it as it is, you only change the oil every 5000km right? So, it ain't that bad unless you're changing it every month.
*
Yeah, it's an air intake system... And yes, I do clean the filters, maybe it's time to clean it again...

Yeah, it ain't that bad la as long as MOTUL protects my engine... I'm gonna try out the semi-synth grade in my next oil change... smile.gif

Dude, read my post carefully again... I was stating that the ULTRA plug cables are useless, not the Denso Iridiums... The Denso plugs are very good, I'm using a 2nd set oredi... Engine start-up is excellent and slightly more power and torque.

QUOTE(azxel @ Jan 17 2007, 11:59 PM)
I believe Semi-Synths are much suited for older engine designs. Only the newer ones really benefit from Ful Synth, I think... Well, from reading what people have been saying with regards to the performance of their cars and the type of oil they use. hehe... anyone care to share more with regards to this and your Nissan Sentra?
*
Yeah, that's what I was told too... smile.gif

Yes Sentra is use IK16 if Denso Iridium, Because sentra engine is using 5KR plug. You can try again get IK16 you will feel your car more power then before from pickup.
*
Hmm, OK, next spark plug change, I'll ask for the IK16... That's provided I haven't sold off my Sentra when that time comes la... biggrin.gif

You're driving a N16, izzit? I thought u're driving B14. In that case, maybe using IK16 on my B14 may not be suitable. My GA16DE is different from your QG16DE.

Yeah, I agree with you. The Sec 13, PJ TCEAS sucks! Workmanship also lousy. Thanks for sharing your info on the Puchong SC. notworthy.gif

Iridium Power Plug not only like that, it also can make your car pickup more powerful then before but you don't get wrong plug.
*
Dude, if use wrong plugs, can it cause my car to spew smoke out of the exhaust when I floor the pedal for a quick acceleration? I have this problem... Normal driving, no smoke, but everytime I floor it, loads of smoke comes out of the back... shakehead.gif

I've just changed to new piston rings, fixed up all all engine gaskets (no more oil leak), new fuel filter, etc. and it's still giving me this problem... I suspect it's the use of wrong spark plugs (IK20 instead of IK16)... What do you think?

I finding a good sentra header because it really will make your sentra VTC work more powerful!! i already changed my sentra Header to 4-2-1 with all the piap change to same big like FronTier Paip. so now when my engine run over 4000RPM = [ VTC ON ]  The VTC Open you will feel the car like got a Turbo Power make your car more powerful run!! the feel is better then FronTier Engine over 2000RPM Turbo On.

If You don't believe me, you can try at your Sentra. make sure your sentra is N16 or N16A and QG16DE or QG18DE Engine With VTC Technology. i'm trying is "QG16DE"    1.8 will more Power some one will try at 1.8 Sentra?
*
You guys with N16 lucky ler, can play with VTC... My GA16DE only got cam-profiling... cry.gif I really wish I could change to a SR16VE (175BHP, baby!!), but it's way too expensive... sad.gif

Wow you rich la. me no money turn engine only play the cheap things sad.gif  i change my car exhaust need use 3 month to complete it. My Dream is Turn SR16 Engine also drool.gif  but i'm not SR16VE. i saw a Nissan engine at internet the name call SR16VVL_N1. This is 4line Engine with 1600CC but got 200HorsePower. Ha..... rolleyes.gif  donno this engine use at my sentra and race with skyline donno i can win or not leh brows.gif
*
Me no rich, if rich, I oredi changed my GA16DE for a SR16VE loh... The N1 edition of SR16 is actually the SR16VE tuned to hardcore levels... It is ULTRA rare, definitely will not be easy to find...

BTW, I just bought a new set of IK16 Denso Iridium plugs... Will install it tomorrow morning... I was comparing the IK16 with an old IK20 I have... IK16 is actually slightly longer in length than the IK20... Could it be that the length of the spark plug can cause such a big difference in power output and emissions? unsure.gif

If you upgrade to 15", you'll probably get 195 60 R15 tyres, meaning ur new 195 tyres will be wider, which translates to improved grip...

My B14 is currently using a new set of 205 50 VR16 Yokohama A.drive R1 tyres. It's a mid-range performance tyre, it's surprisingly quiet and it's got very good grip but it doesn't grip as well as the previous Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 (German made) I had, that one has excellent wet grip.

Hey Vanquish... how feel your sentra changed new spark plug?? have feel it more power then before???
*
Sadly no... No changes in power delivery... I drove an Indon friend to LCCT yesterday afternoon so I have a chance to test out the new plugs... While on the highway, at certain RPM (around 2,800 to 3,000 rpm at 120+km/h), the engine choked and white smokes starting billowing out of the exhaust, I press on the pedal a bit more, then no more smokes, as I let it go back down to 2,800+ rpm, the engine starts to choke again and white smokes started billowing out again... sad.gif And white smokes would come out at 2,500 rpm as well... Lots of it, actually... cry.gif Funny thing is, normal driving (in speed less than 90km/h, there's no smoke at all...

I suspect something is wrong with the ULTRA plug cables... This morning, I changed back to the OEM cables to check if there's any similar problems, haven't notice anything yet though... Maybe after work I'll go on the LDP and check...

Denso Iridium IK16 use at my car nothing happen, engine no come out white smoke or black smoke. and drive at highway 6000RPM change gear also no problem and VTC Open also nothing happen. and it make my car more power then before. Sell Plug to you that people have give wrong plug to you?? please check again The Plug Box there is say IK16 or other. Your car is use "IK16 not IKH16" Remember this check baik baik.
*
Yes, the box and the plugs got the code "IK16" printed on it. It's the correct plug. But since I've changed the plug cables back to the OEM one yesterday, so far no white smoke problem... This morning, I tried revving my car up to 5000rpm while on my way to the office and no white smoke yet... That's why I believe the culprit is the stupid ULTRA silicon plug cables I've been using for the past few years... shakehead.gif
