QUOTE(knwong @ Jun 16 2016, 09:25 AM) To be easily employed everywhere not just in SG, if you have connections - even relatives or short acquaintances that you exchange name cards with, can land you a job. If you submit resume like the rest of the population, get ready for rejections I'm one fighting with the rest of the population, took me longgg and hard to get a positive reply at last. But even then, this doesnt mean i got the offer yet, still the interview to go....

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Jun 18 2016, 10:19 PM) Company submit all your details to MOM. MOM will decide whether your application is approved. Upon receiving IPA (in-principle approval), you will need to carry out body check. Once body check done, go MOM do thumbprint then only you formally complete the EP process. this body check has to be done in Singapore hospitals only? or do they recognize certain malaysia government/specific malaysia hospitals? otherwise, seems like need to spam so many flight trips down to do every stage of the application

QUOTE(deodorant @ Jun 18 2016, 10:58 PM) once you have your IPA you can legally start work liao. so it's you get IPA then relocate to SG and start work and in the first few weeks of working then go medical check up, convert IPA to EP card. so this IPA is also like a card or some sort of permit is it? Because was mentioned that need EP card to apply accommodation... can use this IPA to apply as well? will be accepted?

QUOTE(Warrior Cheng @ Jun 18 2016, 11:32 PM) This IPA is like a temporary permit. Only valid for a period of time. Within this period of time, you must proceed with you the necessary action to obtain your EP. So can i apply for accommodation with this IPA..?

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Jun 26 2016, 03:03 PM) Don't worry about food. Even if you stay in Orchard, you will be able to find cheap food too. Just have to know where to look. Unless you stay somewhere near dempsey hill then no guarantee you get cheap food la The bottom line, you should able to get Kopitiam or other food court in shopping malls. But you most probably will be able to find smaller cafe just below HDB or a hawker centre nearby. Those will be cheaper compared to what you get in shopping malls. One thing that SG shopping malls stand out compared to MY is... The crowd!!!! If you think KLCC is crowded, it's like any shopping mall in SG is more crowded than that. Places like Vivo and Nex are insanely crowded... but as for retail choices...? i mean mid valley and sunway pyramid, you are spoilt for shopping choices... how about the malls in S'pore, are they smaller?

And oh yea, what telco should I subscribe to...? Postpaid seems to be the more cost effective choice. I'm thinking of going for Starhub postpaid. Anyone using Starhub? If other carriers mind sharing opinion?

QUOTE(Freedom15 @ Jun 28 2016, 12:34 PM) I am using Singtel... 3Gb of data costs around $20 while 1Gb around $10... Better opt for 3Gb... BTW in SG, picking up calls will cost u money too... So, if you don't have credit, you basically is unreachable... Do take note... But postpaid starhub says incoming calls are all free. So i think thats better right... Your Singtel is post or prepaid?
