Not 100% war issue but the focus goes more on upcoming pending rate hike which drives the market uncertainty  doh.gif

March 15-16 this year will be the first hike (after Fed's meeting), after which rumored more to come.

Grab over spent on their expansion/promos and forgot about their shareholders. Should balance things and not be too ambitious in a short time.

Whoa, Amazon doing stock split in June this year..

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/03/09/amazon-anno...on-buyback.html

Another big one splitting their stock after Google's announcement. Premarket price straight shot up after the news.

March 14-15 Fed will meet to discuss inflation and interest rates. Anticipating that they will raise rates officially that time, and announce future plans.

QUOTE(ozak @ Mar 14 2022, 12:28 PM)
More bad news for China. China tech stock might be down more.
" China is scrambling to address its most severe Covid-19 outbreak in two years, reporting soaring cases in a fresh wave that has seen the country tweak its zero-Covid policy by allowing rapid antigen tests for public use. After topping 1,000 for two days in a row, new locally transmitted cases surged to more than 3,100, this time driven by a spike in symptomatic infections, the National Health Commission reported on Sunday. It came as 16 provinces reported new coronavirus infections, as did the four megacities of Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing.

As a result of the latest covid breakout, China’s government has shut down the city of Shenzhen, a city of 17.5 million people known as China's Silicon Valley, and is restricting access to Shanghai by suspending bus services. All businesses except those that supply food, fuel and other necessities were ordered to close or work from home. That includes Foxconn, Apple's Chinese slaves:

FOXCONN SUSPENDS OUTPUT AT CHINA HQ, IPHONE SITE IN SHENZHEN

And since the port of Shenzhen - one of the world's busiest container post is now also locked down, expect a fresh round of cascading chaos in Transpacific supply chains, just in time to join the snarled Transatlantic supply chains as the Ukraine war cripples all global seaborne traffic. "

over-reacting to omnicron wave. Most of the world already move on.. die ma die attitude liao especially amongst westerners. They don't even bother to wear masks or social distance nowadays.

See our Malaysia also chill already start to loosen many rules and allow incoming tourists.

Most important is high vaccination drive.. then the impact won't be so bad. At least lower death rate. Problem is China don't want to import in any MRNA vaccine, but die2 want to create one themselves. Until now haven't successfully create one:
https://www.scmp.com/news/china/science/art...-mrna-shot-amid

So now Covid spreading in their country.. they panic start shutting things down. Likely high hospitalization and death rate creeping in their country. Many of their Covid statistics are not 100% accurate due to gov controlling the news.

QUOTE(sgh @ Mar 14 2022, 02:22 PM)
There have been rumors zero covid strategy is really hard to achieve. Once the whole world all get along and get used to it, China should also slowly change the stance and follow suit maybe not this year but perhaps year 2023 onwards. How is it possible to be zero covid for the whole country? Imagine the covid as just another common flu and this is happening everyday how to achieve zero cases?

In fact here in Spore, kena Covid has now become the norm and ppl who has not kena will become minority soon. This is how it is going to be where majority of ppl has kena mild symptom recover and life goes on. We cannot be forever trapped by this Covid correct? As long as kena mild symptoms recover means it is the way ahead.

It is all about pride in China

Even so called Sinovac is already useless when spreading wildfire and quickly blame HK for the recent spread  doh.gif

all these negative China news over and over again make me no faith in Emperor Xi.

The guy really don't know what he's doing and living in fantasyland.. similar to Putin with his love of USSR and trying to bring back its glory. doh.gif

This is probably the last rally before everything come crashing down later.

I wouldn't get too complacent, n will look for exit targets.
*
how do u know will crash again? on what reason?

normal ya in the past when interest rate increase US stock markets crash a bit, after that will recover even after subsequent increases.

Ukraine War, Russia side already losing steam. Already got rumor of peace /ceasefire. Best is Putin get assassinated or kicked out of office, might happen soon too.

I will continue to DCA. I have faith in US in the long term.

QUOTE(Cubalagi @ Mar 23 2022, 04:58 PM)
I didn't say stay out the market.

But Fed tightening usually end in bad crashes, sooner or later. But the S&P could still rally higher before it breaks.

I said don't be complacent n have some plan in place to minimize damage n to take advantage of big crash.
*
crash already happen earlier.. due to some investors borrow money at 0% interest rate to buy stocks.

many of them have already sold once hear fed increasing interest rate.

to have the market crash a similar 10-20% is really a tough call (like what we experienced in Dec) ... drop small % then likely before going back up.

also robust job market and strong company earnings don't point to a recession.

Forbes also estimate if recession also likely not this year:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/billconerly/20...sh=638b854e3555

as long Fed don't increase interest rate too sudden too fast then will be ok.

don't dare to dip my feet into Tesla yet due to its overvaluation by investors.

if I have money I would first buy Amazon and Google due to their stock split this year.

then buy Nvidia, Apple, Disney, Microsoft, Berkshire.B, Bank of America

Meta also seem to be a better bet due to oversold:
https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/meta-platfo...mes-oversold-fb

Then put the rest into ETFs like CSPX/VUAA, VWRA

Tesla overvaluation? kidding?

You're wasting the oppurtunity. Especially the last few weeks or yrs.

https://investorplace.com/2022/02/tsla-stoc...lly-overvalued/

Elon himself admitted Tesla stock prices were too high in his tweet in year 2020.

But anyhow these are fundamentals and ratios only. Stock price is determined by what investors are willing to pay.

Gamestop stocks can shoot to the moon as long Wallstreetbet redditors still support it (it is losing out on earnings yearly).

Remember ETF is not 100% weightage on Tesla so if Tesla it will drawdown by % it holds unlike Tesla shares  doh.gif

Yes there were companies that were removed from S&P 500 ETF before in the past when not performing.

Buying stocks outright is more risky since ownself manage. Gotta act fast when shit happens else face bigger losses. However growth for good stocks is higher usually.

Most of use use IBKR to buy stocks. There are some that buy options. I’m not one of them. I just buy stocks or ETFs for long term hold.

Coz of Elon Musk. He’s a genius and still young. Much future hold for Tesla and looking bright.

Profit has been increasing with Tesla plus new factories being built in Germany recently.
