cool2.gif Just brace for impact, and get ready our cold cash to buy the dip..  brows.gif Look to me like another Covid-19 Pandemic effect on the stock market. Now my Wallet flat, i don't wanna touch my next month budget to buy now, I'll just following the company news and updates while leaving the stock price alone.

Any sifu here know experience a recession? Mind share your thought on how's a recession look like, your thinking during a recession and what did you learnt after it's over? (Do even know if recession over?)
*
This is from a YouTuber I follow. During covid crash, this guy working in the oil and gas. He was worried as hearing his colleagues get laid off or given volatary separation scheme.

He's not even sure if he will make it through or he's next in line. So it caused him to panic and sold everything to go into cash for just in case he gets laid off from the job.

Very easy to experience a recession. You see or hear people at your work place being laid off. And you imagine yourself no job or next in line. Can you afford your next bill/interest payment.etc? That's why I live as I have no job tomorrow. That's why If I really no job tomorrow, I will be ok as I am prepared and have been living like that since I started my job since 3 years already. It's a self training I put myself through so that I won't waste money unnecessarily I can survive if really no job.

When you are worried, the last thing on your mind will be about investing.

The training you put yourself in will help. That's why I told you before to cut away unwanted things. No job is secured. Pilots never think they get laid off and see how many no job during covid? Due to their Hugh salary, they live the atas live and when suddenly no money coming in cannot cope. That's why be frugal and live below your means.

Its about malaysia tax. If little profit taxman wont chase us, but if big profit, i am very worried, i am sure the taxman will not ignore, and chase until the end of earth...

That's why you must have job. If you don't have job and depend on investing you need it to come via dividends.

Not many can collect few million in capital to generate meaningful dividends. That's why I am realistic and change gear from dividend investor to growth and generating my own "dividends" via options.

For now until 5 years no tax on foreign income. Even tax as showned before this, tax on dividend and not capital gain and money must be brought back to Malaysia. If money not bought back, no need to pay tax.

True, I would like to open a CDP account for my SG holdings in the future too. But for US-wise, I don't think you can open a direct-holding account unless you are an American. So there is give-and-take here.
*
Not worth it. If you are holding reits.
As mentioned reits in CDP cannot sub for rights or placement unless you have sg address.

Where were you in past few weeks?

Don't worry. Interest rate still low. As long as oil remain elevated, china lockdown, fed have mo choice but to increase interest rate.

More opportunities coming I believe.

Even though it is the world most populous democracy, India's market is still a closed door system and with tons of bureaucracy.
It's pay-to-play in India and they're extremely slow to move forward with new ideas and what's on. Only those in the higher ups with deep pockets with the legislators maybe able to get things done. Yup, gotta to grease those palms!

but your views and decisions are based upon watching some random youtube influencer no? don't tell me you have a degree in finance, major in stock investing and valuation, evaluated all the stocks and came up with your own conclusion goog is "cheap"... wink.gif

but I would agree with you goog is now "cheaper" than few weeks ago... biggrin.gif

Ha. Not just random YouTuber but those who are transparent and have substance. Not just simply hype channels. I avoid hype channels. Some YouTube channel just make analysing balance sheet, income statement easierand you may miss out stuff if they didn't point them out.
For me along term YouTuber holder which got nothing to sell me and just putting out good company analysis is better than any licended financial planner I came across. That's why I am more skeptical towards fianncial advisor Vs what I experienced myself on YouTube with their results. End of the day, the results speak for themself.

No. I look at historical charts on pe, ps. Use seeking alpha tools to see historical charts in their pe, and ps. Forward guidance, historical and forward revenue growth, balance sheet.

Hi sifu's,  I'm still new to investing and would like to have your opinion. I bought in to netflix at 200 thinking this was the lowest it could drop.
But it has since drop almost 20% since I bought it which is quite painful. Do your think I should just cut loss or average down??
*
Ask yourself do Netflix have a moat? Can they defend their moat? Is their moat being eroded and having it's lunch eaten? If yes by who?

If yes, you have your answer and your decision.

For me, my answer would be
1. They have no moat now. Cause no media company want to sell their content to Netflix and anymore forcing them to do their own content. Other media company will just put it on their own channel. So what makes Netflix unique in this day and age?
2. Judging from report, they are trying. Whether the will be successful is yet to be seen. They are throwing money at it.
3. Yes. Disney is challenging them with marvel, star wars and more experience with making movies Vs Netflix. Not to mention Disney hot plus is a direct competitor to Disney.

That's just my two cents. Between Disney and Netflix, I will feel safer with Disney I/v/o large content library.

That's why I don't buy into Netflix story since I heard Disney launhing their own streaming services and cutting Netflix off their content.

console.gif Let's comfort each other, I entered US Market at the beginning of April, buying TSLA @ 1180 (now DCA to 1120) and I also tried Options which are not doing great (Ouchhh). Fortunately, I'm not borrowing any money to do all this trade (Hinting to a friend who did it if he reading this post). Now my portfolio in the US market is down 35% laugh.gif  And I just wanna say, I hope I can have more $$ to buy more now! If you believe in the company (which you should since you picked it), there's no worry since the entire market is going down. Just treat yourself as Mid-year Sales and buy more to lower your average price acquisition. It will eventually bounce back, it's only a matter of time.

In my POV. The current market doesn't happen all the time, if I have plenty of cold cash lying around, I'll buy even more.
*
I will never touch Tesla at above 800 mark. My cost is 750 and my next target is 5xx+. If it reached I will buy. That's why I never chase when it's 1k+ . If it never reach 5xx, I am ok. I missed the first one when it drop to 5xx+. I won't miss the 2nd round this time.

Actually no. Never be scared of down market. Have been loading up Google, Adobe, Microsoft. Now looking at visa, Airbnb, BlackRock, amd, Nvidia and Tesla.drool.gif

Nvidia will be cool at 120+ if can get there. Amd 80 and below.
Tesla 600 and below.

Google, Adobe, Microsoft currently good price so won't argue. When market offer you bargain, take it.
