QUOTE(danmooncake @ Feb 27 2020, 10:56 AM) Don't say so fast...the big bears are lurking around the corner. The FAANG boys are issuing Popularity of passive fund and High frequency trading is a recipe for disaster. Just don't know when or what will trigger it.early earnings warning this quarter. Once the HFT machines take over... there could be more than 1000 pts drop. Well, at least short term, I need the market to hold up here (SPY 305-310) till Friday (expiration), it will be perfect. |

QUOTE(Yggdrasil @ Mar 9 2020, 09:18 PM) Rising oil prices is a sign of economic boom (demand increase due to more activity). Basically Saudis and Russian taking this chance to kill off shale oil producer, they can't do it last round but i think they will try again, even harder this round.Falling means the other way around. Right now price slump due to drop in economic activity because of Coronavirus and oversupply. Companies impacted the most from drop in oil prices should be O&G as well as banks. Restoring the balance to the oil world. That is my take on this |

If we ignore the noises, overall its trending downwards on a mid term horizon. Later like bursa, a slow death.

Still expensive. Only when US implement austerity will i be convince.
Trump just messed up the recovery valuation with his over zealous need to stimulate the stock market. |

Roubini aka Dr Doom is pretty on point this round.
Fed did exactly what needs to be done, as i think they have data sources pointing to a possible credit crunch. Q1 global recession is more or less confirm now as well. |

QUOTE(yok70 @ Mar 16 2020, 10:45 AM) i never hear him "predicted" the cronovirus outbreak could hurt the market before the outbbreak. Ok la need give him credit. He was saying 30 - 40% global equity drop when the virus was just in Chinai never hear him "predicted" saudi would trigger oil war with Russia (and US) before it happened. i never even hear him "predicted" there will be a trade war between US and China before it happened. this bear market was not triggered by credit crunch. Conclusion: Dr Doom is useless. https://www.spiegel.de/international/busine...=article_inline |

QUOTE(Yggdrasil @ Mar 17 2020, 01:02 AM) No. Malaysian stocks would have recovered too since US stocks recovered. This is the dilemma I'm facing as well. Before even deploy already around +-5% capital loss on currency conversion as compared to a month ago.Right now buying cheap US equities is like no difference because I'm paying more to convert. The higher conversation rate already offset most of the drop in US equities. |

This will be ugly. How low will it go, i have no idea. Some said 13k for dow.
But everything is super speed lately, the drop, the recovery, the fed action. It feel so surreal, has been quite sometime i stayed up to watch the market like a football match. |

Well to go or not to go, depending on yourself and the valuation you have in mind.
I have been going in consistently from the drop since this week as it seemed the sharp sell-off and pull back is due to highly leverage hedge fund. As fed seemed to be cushioning them with liquidity, i expect market to normalized soon. |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Mar 20 2020, 11:25 AM) if true, most likely very early selective buying. Human trial for vaccine already started. My take is trump will fast track everything due to his re-election campaign.last night, it was evident the major tech stocks were very active, some bargain hunting there. just reading... i get a sense that markets may make a soft but short rebound. only to go gradually lower in the next few months when the fallout everywhere becomes clear. .. trump says he may intervene in saudi-russia oil price war. .. china NOT lowering loan rates anymore. .. $ climb stopped. .. asian bourses clawed back this morning, incl shanghai..? buy after considering all kinds of risks. maybe good opportunities to trade! From the speed that fed and US treasury secretary is making, I don't expect this thing to drag out long. The response this round was WAYYY faster than 08. |
