There is a divergent in ai training between asic and gpu going on now.

The article may contain half truth but you can see google is playing the long game. They develop the transformer that power ai learning and they have been designing tpu to run those training on since before gpt was introduce.

There is a chance that nvidia and openai might have lost sight of the ball from all the hype and caught off guard by google.
