This time I think Macron will win. The history will happen again like her father.
Hey guys, can I ask a question? Anyone familiar with Interactive Brokers (IB) or any US brokers here? I am planning to study Master in one of four countries Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan or Philippines (courses taught in English). I may want to trade US stock while studying too. I have experiences in trading US stock with IB in Vietnam. I know almost any step to open an account already. The problem is the ease of funding and transferring money back to the country (here is Malaysia). In Vietnam, that was not easy and I had to fund (transfer) the money secretly (through a secret service) to my US account. Working with the bank would be complicated, they didn't even understand what I am talking about, they would consider it an investment and I have to write many forms and declare statement and purpose blah blah blah... Transferring money back would be easy because they (VN) want money in but not out. So I wanna ask: Is it easy here to fund money to the US account and is it easy to transfer money back to the local account? I assume anyone here is Malaysian. But if you can answer me the same question for Taiwan, Philippines and Thailand. I will be thankful for that! This post has been edited by stax1112: Apr 27 2017, 05:50 AM |

Are you a malaysians or non malaysian? If you are malaysians without debts, you can transfer how much you want. If you have debts max rm1m/year.Hey guys, can I ask a question? You will be force to convert RM at bank's rate. And USD you receive will also be force converted back to RM at bank's rate. You can open a US foreign currency account where funding the account is via RM converted at bank's rate. Then when you sell, you can have your proceed credit to you in USD into that account. However to remove USD from that account, you can only remove in RM. Again force conversion by the banks. |

QUOTE(mikehwy @ Apr 27 2017, 08:17 PM) Yahh man! See how they tried spike up the price for no reasons just two days ago but nowthey sold back into it and push it back below $49. Now, low $48 as of this writing. We're back into $46-$50 range play here. I think I'll wait till it reaches the lower side of $45-$46 before dipping back in. Perhaps then, OPEC will come out with more solid news that the cuts will persist and we'll spike back up to $50 again. |

QUOTE(yok70 @ Apr 28 2017, 03:42 AM) Yes.. remember, there was a short-lived sell off when Trump won the election. Then, when he came out and said.. "we will work together, to rebuild and spend money on infrastructure".. market rallies. I think same thing will happen to the France if the other party wins (which is unexpected). The (world) market kinda expecting Macron to win. That's why it's high now. If for some reason, Macron loses..(even by a small margin). Bam.. the bears will come out. We need to catch that opportunity if possible. |

Actually, Macron is pro-business (Trump) and more right-wing in economics policies. I agree that Macron win will boost market overall. If Le Pen wins somehow, not sure how market will react, but one thing is for sure, EUR will go down.

QUOTE(yok70 @ May 2 2017, 08:08 PM) my cash continues to increase as well....if market continues moving upwards, i have no choice but to continue sell more stocks and raise cash. For the long term hold (like AAPL, SPY, GOOG, etc), I'm not actually selling the stocks but use the covered calls strategy.AAPL would have been nice to sell more yesterday before it tanks. The premiums were juicy. Hot stocks like them also got tons of buyers waiting at the lower level. It won't tank much but hopefully won't rise back until after the out-of-money options have expired.
