I'm waiting for some sort of "s&p 500" indexing for crypto etf.i t would be the best to put some serious money there.

I don't know abt crypto etfs,... and I haven't heard of any. But I think if spot Bitcoin etfs can succeed, then altcoin etfs will be approved sooner or later.

We will start with Bitcoins first because this is the oldest crypto.

If etfs are listed, sooner or later, options will be issued onto these etfs as well,... right, bro ? But that's provided the liquidity is there.

But frankly,... what do you guys think ? Will Spot Bitcoin etfs succeed ?

Will there be more takers for Bitcoins and these etfs after the listing of Spot Bitcoin etfs ?

the etf prices are kinda quite expensive for gambling purposes

and GBTC is insane, 1.87b USD traded yesterday...

for gambling purposes, the cheapest is BRRR, 12.47.
for options trading we need $1247

thats around RM5800. its quite a big amount to use for gambling....

Thank you for your comments and inputs, bros,...

Based on John's diagram, looks like Hashdex ($DEFI) dropped to the lowest at Friday's close,... Thot $DEFI was holding-up high all the time. Bitwise is cheapest in terms of Annual Mgmt Fee,..... but looks like not many people believed in it. and Bitwise is also cheapest in price, I recalled,.. only $2+.

I bought $ARKY, $BITO and $BTM just before the SEC approval, and I was sure the approval would come through.

I bought $DEFI on Friday night. Now in the red,....

I think yes, there will surely be a lot more people investing in Bitcoin in near future, especially through these spot Bitcoin etfs.
However, will they succeed? That depends on what do you mean by it. ETFs will be succeed because a lot of people investing in them, they will earn good fees. But will Bitcoin price moves upwards? I have no idea. It is almost political in nature. laugh.gif

...clear words, bro,... thank you,...

To my bolded words above, when people invest in these Bitcoin etfs, the etfs MUST BUY Bitcoins thru a third-party to increase its holdings of Bitcoins. Hence,....there will be more demand for Bitcoins,... raising the price of Bitcoins,....

I purchase few US stock through RHB many year ago. After 1/Mar/2024. Government introduce capital gain tax. How they calculate the gain tax once I sales the stock?

Can I offset with capital loss stock?

Only affect those with unlisted stock 🤦‍♀️ so just wait for the next deadline

The tax will be imposed upon buying or selling on top of or or deduction from the selling value as they won’t allow tax loss harvesting unlike in US

The government will impose a capital gains tax on the disposal of unlisted shares by companies starting from March 1, 2024. For shares acquired before that date, investors can choose to pay a capital gains tax of 2 per cent on the gross disposal value, or 10 per cent on the net gain on disposal.

Private companies that are not traded on public stock exchange

Example like Boring and Twitter which are privately owned and not traded on the exchange

The exemption on foreign-sourced income is effective from Jan. 1, 2024 until Dec. 31, 2026 while the exemption on capital gains tax is effective from Jan. 1, 2024 until Dec. 31, 2028.

Hence the next deadline would be 2027 and 2029 and you need to look out for any hints during budget 2027 and 2029 for signs or hints on it

Nobody can say what will happen in future. We look at present data to gauge what may happen in future, and then we position ourselves to face the challenges 'to our advantage'.

As of now, I believe we can only try to trap the funds being remitted back to Msia to impose tax on,... but not to tax on all foreign income earned outside of Msia.

Edited by adding : In-ctry-wise, we will try to tax on all income sources as much as possible,...

We will know somehow in advance because the govt have an obligation 🤦‍♀️ to give notice for the changes as usually they will tabled it during the budget the year before hence you will around 15 months to prepare such changes

So if you can prepared in advance as the deadline is already set in stone and look for signs in changes during the budget tabling because it is not as simple because it needs to have legislation changes and amendments before such taxes take place in effect
