But to highlight: 5Ghz does have a downside in that it is less able to penetrate solid walls and objects
Also to add, the range is smaller.

A good read: Difference between 2.4GHz & 5GHz

QUOTE(treblecase @ Sep 14 2016, 09:47 AM) I know but cannot. Power line adapter depends on direct plug connection & not extension plug which I use for the modem side. And besides, TM advises using the LAN4 port as the dedicated hyppptv connection. get a powerline adaptor with pass through. Plug the powerline adaptor to your wall socket mains, then the extension plug to the powerline pass through.I'm welcome to suggestion on how configuration can be done using power line adapter or any other method. One side with wall telephone jack connection to modem using extended plug to power the modem/router. The opposite side with TV, direct wall plug & astro connection. |

Best Option: Use Ethernet Cable from ground floor to first floor, then connect directly to your laptop/PC, or to a switch then to a few devices.
More Practical Option: Use HomePlug to bridge your network between ground floor & first floor. At the first floor, connect cable from HomePlug directly to your laptop/PC or to a switch then to a few devices. If require to connect wireless device, in either case, you can connect cable/HomePlug to another wireless router (set to AP mode & disable DHCP), so that you can still connect phones, tablets, etc. Alternatively, a HomePlug with WiFi AP also helps. QUOTE(bushyboy105 @ Sep 18 2016, 11:35 PM) Hi all! I am currently struggling with my Wifi COVERAGE connectivity. Since Unifi router has to stick with HyppTV together. I am living in a 2 storey house, so happen my TV is on the Ground floor's living room. Problem: Internet connection is really bad in my room which is located on the 1st Floor. (It's like the other end from the Router). Wanted to ask, how can I solve this? I don't only want a stable download or upload speed, I want to have the connectivity which is able to PLAY ONLINE GAME with no lag. Should i buy a better repeater or changing the Router (i bought 1 TP-Link before, was told by the sales consultant it is just plug n play, if there's any problem can just call the hotline, the hotline is directing me to Mainland China's teleconsultant and they got no idea what the heck is UNIFI & HyppTV in Malaysia, therefore the router stays there and collect dust only) Or anyone can please advise what should I do. Thanks!!!!! |

QUOTE(zher4883 @ Sep 20 2016, 05:59 PM) You need to buy router with VLAN support for Unifi. TP-LINK is very value for money and the router had yet to fail me. My Router had been running almost 24/7 for 4 years now and still rock solid. That also depends which model of TP-Link.I used to use WR-841ND before and it was great. However WDR-4300 was bad, especially wireless performance. However, IPv6 is not supported on these models. Currently using Asus - previously N12HP, now on N56U. Both support IPv6. |
