Kojima just said that most of the things shown in this trailer is not relevant to what Death Stranding actually is. He's just showing off the concept he's going for.

The engine for Death Stranding isn't even decided yet. The trailer was running on (presumably) UE4.

The trailer is awesome. But I had no idea what it is about.

Lol graphics engine same as uncharted 4. Now if Kojima can direct this well ...

In case anyone was wondering, the trailer was running on a PS4 Pro.

Kojima is always good with the promotion of his games but the theories that people come up with range from plausible to inane bullshit. I don't know what's the fun in that so I just enjoy the usual high productions from his studio.

It's an open world action game with online features. I hope Guillermo del Toro helps out in directing this masterpiece. Konami really messed with the wrong guy in throwing Kojima outta the bus.

Is Kojima still allowed to use fox engine or is it pretty much a proprietary of Konami? That technology is goood! It'll prolly look even better on the Pro

I saw a magnified image of del toro on reddit having this badge united cities of america on his chest. Its like he works for some government agency of some sort. I like it whenever he crosses over real events to his games and molds in to something worth believing ala Dan Brown with his novels. Pure genius!

I've watched YouTube for his award from VGA. So much respect.

Fox engine belongs to Konami now, all MGS franchise and brand names are all Konami's, and Konami is free to do whatever they like to them
hence the new Zombie MGS game


anyway... Kojima is using the same engine for Horizon Zero Dawn, which is Decima engine from Guerrilla Games.

if i were kojima, i would release this game on time with metal gear survive, show konami who is the real boss..

Honestly my hype is dead, soooo many trailers but still no clue about gameplay :\

The preorder page was leaked by PSN earlier , looks like the game might be released within 2019 afterall .

There is an upcoming death stranding reveal which is scheduled to take place tonight ( midnight ) .

Was hoping their characters will be portrayed differently than their TV series's image
but unfortunately it's not from the trailer, Norman still feels like the biker dude Daryl from TWD, and Mads still feels very like the creepy Hannibal

Kojima! Kojima! Kojima! Finally release date announced. Soon... the waiting will be over. November 8. Marked in my calendar. Will be taking vacation leave from my work and family. Tell my with I'm going to get stranded in my den and awaiting for death coming.

That's why I'm not buying into the hype. I used to be a HUGE Kojima fan and I think MGS1, 2 and 3 are the greatest games ever made but everything he has made since stinks and he gets away with it because he has a loyal fanbase that will defend everything he does, summoning the word "genius" if he ever does anything questionable and blaming others (like Konami) if his work is less than perfect. Gimme a break.

It's because of the fanbase's refusal to have any semblance of constructive criticism that art becomes impeded. Nobody grows any wiser when you're spoonfed every single idea without even to question what it is. In fact, that's the very thing MGS2 warns people about.

You realize a lot of the people from this gaming section of the forum are like that , right ?


Just look at how many Final Fantasy fanbois we have around the corners .
When FF15 was being marketed as a " Skyrim style " open world game , look at how many " OMFG NO GAME EVER DO THIS BEFORE " we've gotten ( yea right except people have been playing Skyrim since 2010 )


Hype and nostalgia are still trump cards for the game publishers to twist gamers into spending more money . People never learn , many gamers are especially forgetful.

Remember the incident of Star Wars battlefront 2 ? Despite of everyone was angry with big game corporation manipulating people into buying lootboxes , Swbf 2 still sold a friggin 9 millions copies , unfinished crap like Anthem probably sold at least several millions.

Let's put it this way, explaining what this game is about completely wrecks the experience. I will say this, knowing what the game is about beforehand will not make you want to play it, at all.

well, if you put Hideo Kojima's name on any games, majority will wanna play it blindly no matter what kind of games is it

Perhaps after this game, not many will buy his games blindly anymore? Who knows?

There are 2 somewhat significant spoilers in the launch trailer (though without context, you won't even know what it means). Don't watch it if you want to go in completely blind.

Review are popping up on YouTube. Seem ok from it... But definitely like what I suspect a very slow burner.

If no time to play best just watch whole thing on YouTube or twitch.

From what i seen the review its either 8-10 masterpiece or worst/boring game ever

Sony damn strict about the embargo this time. Kojima also damn strict about it.

Theoretically I can talk about the game now since it's already past 12:01AM PT. AMA.


While its primary focus is indeed a fetch quest game, you don't always have to play the way the game tells you to - "connecting America". There is some freedom but unfortunately, combat is not one of the game's strong points eventhough it's almost a carbon copy of MGSV's combat. You can't always just shoot your way out if things go wrong and you're grabbed by shadows.

I didn't find the game boring though, but rather it's quite odd and there are many things that don't make sense. It's up to you to interpret the story the way it is told.

If Kojima is not at the helm, and starring popular actors/actress, would the reviewers still gives very positive reviews?

Some already complained RDR2's long prologue is too long & boring, and here we got 10 hours before things starts to get interesting? I ain't got time for that

Anyway, won't be getting it at launch, waiting for sales

I'll put it this way - Death Stranding is a game that Kojima was going for with PT. There's a lot of Silent Hill esque theme to everything, it tries to trick and blur the lines between what is real and what isn't.

I also feel the game would be somewhat different and perhaps, better come launch day. You see - the review copies that we got, we're mostly alone. The server isn't populated enough to make it seem like the world is growing and connecting. Because of this, often times I had to go out of a very radical way to reach a place that would perhaps have been easier and more manageable to get to if other players has already built their ladders or left their ropes there.

Taking detours in the game isn't very fun because a lot of these detours especially in the first 10 hours of the game at least are quite hazardous and you as Sam simply don't have the tools. Sure you can cheese some of the terrains, but where's the fun in that? The game encourages you to "share" with other players (think Dark Souls/Bloodborne messages, but much more fleshed out here), but for me at least - there weren't that many people that I was sharing with. Most of my time with the game was a ghost town.
