QUOTE(fat16 @ Jul 13 2016, 08:26 AM) depends on the capacity. usual strategy is to have different frequency layer of cells from one tower only. truth is, a lot of works involved if want to erect a new tower. need permission from mcmc, landlord, etc. even if the neighbourhood association is against it, then no tower for you la. |

QUOTE(bjohnxbjohn @ Jul 19 2016, 10:38 AM) yes, I particularly asked for the bundled data and she answer firmly, "the UMI30 data and call will be barred after the validity goes inactive". that's why I curious. what's wrong with being Berjaya? anyway, I won't expect much from UM, it's Berjaya. just enjoy it while still can especially the P70 and P98, it's so tempting. Now using prepaid to test the coverage. if I can tolerate the coverage and speed, I'll contact you for mnp |

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Jul 26 2016, 04:31 PM) Just trolling. coverage-wise, they are quite slow due to budget constraint. On the other hand, UMobile better be upgrading their network and infrastructures and if not, they stand losing out more customers. (insider info), they can only install bout 700+ sites per year. this is projected figure. their main strategy focus on somewhere else, customer experience & satisfaction, trying to create public perception that Umobile network is the cheapest. well they really do, but this cost them some catch up in terms of radio network infrastructures. |

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Jul 26 2016, 05:07 PM) They are mainly relying on Maxis infrastructures and local networking roaming with other network providers. I dont think they are building much infrastructures themselves and hence the poor quality of their network. But then again, when you pay peanuts, you only will get monkeys. of coz that's obvious. for a newcomer, if they invest too heavily on infras, pay huge money to vendors for equipment & services, u wont get the cheap mobile packages like now. there are advantages of being pioneer like the big 3, where during their time the telco industry was not so robust compare to today. so new telco need to be smart and offer something different. there's always a trade-off between the two. but they are expanding despite the slow progress. if u can bear with it, ok. if not, just port out. we got many choices now. |

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Jul 26 2016, 10:29 PM) Im not on U Mobile yet. Just contemplating to port over. But looking at the responses and complains here... we tend to dismiss lots of good things just bcoz of some a bad things or two. i believe Umobile not so bad, other telcos hv their own prob too. maybe u wont encounter problems discussed here at all. best is to choose what suits and satisfy u. |

QUOTE(stephantsen @ Jul 27 2016, 12:57 AM) what celcom is doing now is called swapping and modernization. they are replacing & upgrading their sites in klang valley with newer nodeb, bts and enodeb. it's slightly different from coverage expansion. |

if time allows, recommend u to do it a proper & safe way by changing it to nano sim. |

QUOTE(tan_aniki @ Jul 28 2016, 06:22 AM) Don't worry, just cut it as many times as you want and give it a reason that your phone is gone for warranty claim and need a new normal sim for temporary usage phone if your nano sim cutting is failed~ yup, correct. Normal sim replacement is free while nano sim got additional RM10 charge per replacement... Btw i cut my old sim to nano sim and it is working although some of the part on the edge is cutting off~ but just fyi: what i mean proper is at the network side. actually, the sim physical info/configuration is embedded into in the sim's chip. so far, it has no impact on ur access to network services (browsing internet, etc..). the core/access network though will still recognize ur sim as maco/micro. for future enchancements, there maybe some features that will only support sim with true nano size one. |
