Are you sure ? I have 2 line . Maxis 128 & umobile 98 .
When I have this lag issues I switch to maxis and no more lag . I dont see all malaysian isp problem . It just umobile .
*
I said most, not all. Seems like U Mobile International Peer Routing bandwidth is much smaller than Maxis and bufferbloat occurred and hence the ping spike.

I noticed every time around 10 or 10.30pm, the data line starts to be very slow. Even 64kbps also kalah. Been a few days. But umobile rep say nothing wrong with their network doh.gif
*
They define wrong as network tower down or backbone fiber cut. Congestion is never a "wrong" to them devil.gif

I can say UMOBILE do boost speed test website to SHOW OFF maybe.
I tried ping oversea US/CHINA and some other else. Download up to 20mb. But when normal download just <2mb(+/-200kbps).
Test with many server and download server is fine. Tested with maxis(2-3mpbs).
*
Complain all you want, no ISP could even close to achieve 80% of their bandwidth when testing with European or North American servers. As standard, all ISP in Malaysia only guarantee speed for local connection. Speed Test result are based off local connection, they did not measure international link. If you really want to know did U Mobile did a speed test boost, you could compare speed test result and download speed result over the VPN.

Speed Test result differ from the downloading is because the server had direct peer routing to peer exchange U Mobile using. Why don't you try to download something from server that had direct peer routing to U Mobile and compare with speed test result.

SpeedTest.net only uses local connection to measure the fastest mobile carrier in Malaysia.

Well. Enough said . UMOBILE totally BS.
In case others wan apply UMOBILE better think twice . Don't trust their show off speed test.
*
The fastest speed test claim is not even based of the current situation but rather around two years ago, so I do agree U Mobile need to stop advertising it.

well speaking from my experience, celcom is alot better than u mobile when it comes to coverage.
*
You don't even need to compare in real life situation. Just based off their coverage map is enough for this conclusion.

Share my bitter experience, signed up for BB RM68,Wangsa Melawati downstairs fair upstairs no coverage ! After 2 weeks called CSR to terminate, they were very rude! Sir u hv to go to Umobile service center only to terminate and hanged up.That center was abt 100km away!  I complained to CFM,MCM and in 2 days they wrote to me to email my termination letter and in 2 hours my account was terminated. So unless you are absoultely sure on coverage pls excersise caution before you fall for the cheap rates
*
Bejaya Times Square is 100km away from Wangsa Maju hmm.gif hmm.gif

How's the network conditions in JB now?
Will the datapack be extended to next year ?
*
Unless you are extremely lucky to have 4G LTE coverage and congestion is not too bad, or else just forget about U Mobile. Data Backpack promo until end of this year and U Mobile doesn't seems to have any plan to extend it.

New postpaid customers
(tenure of less than 6 months)
Activate auto debit for bill payments, then call us at 1318
Port-in customers can also walk-in with your past 2 months’ bill (1 month with international roaming usage)
but i just wanna know, izzit ok if i just use this u28 for roaming only and after that i will terminate it
*
Why don't you just buy prepaid sim card and save all these hassles? RM10/day roaming in Australia is also available on prepaid.

*
Data backpack until 31 Dec 2016 and no sign of extending so it probably won't

i thought they got their own towers/network?
*
Only in Klang Valley and certain states only. U Mobile had spectrum and RAN sharing with Maxis for 3G in certain states and also limited area not statewide. U Mobile also had 2G riding on Maxis network.

Other than that, U Mobile own every single 4G LTE tower.

Im more concerned about their roaming agreement with their roaming partners. If the rm10/day roaming is no more available, then there is no point staying with UMobile anymore.
*
RM10/day will still be available. Data Backpack will be discontinued.

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Nov 21 2016, 10:39 PM)
So do you guys turn data roaming on so that your phone will roam to Maxis 2G when there is no coverage or this is unnecessary as UMobile will switch automatically?
*
If you roam on 2G, just make sure to turn on data roaming as in some places, data won't work unless it;s turned on.

So it means that you guys will turn data roaming on so that it will automaticallu connect to Maxis when outnof coverage? When its roaming, will it show Maxis or UMobile on your phone?
*
Show Maxis or U Mobile depends on your phone. Either of it doesn't matter.

Guys, I want to MNP from current Xpax prepaid to U Mobile prepaid.
I can just simply buy any U mobile prepaid sim card selling outside, and submit the MNP request at website right? Or need to go the U mobile center?

There's only 1 U Mobile center in Penang and last Saturday even waited 3 hours still not my turn, can't keep go wasting time like that.
*
Just buy any prepaid U Mobile sim card and register it under your name. Submit MNP on U Mobile's website. That's all
