Actually renting first is not necessary the wrong choice.

Many factors to consider, the maths also done to death, buying is not the clear cut winner.

It depends.

Buying a nice nest will tie you down in a location. If u suddenly have a new job opportunity elsewhere... I know many who gave it up just cause they have a nice comfy house here. Those who rent, can be 10 minutes from their workplace, be it in penang or kl or JB or singapore etc.

Have you seen a high end condo and how nice it is? 12k rent, throw in some reno and you have a very decent place to stay until the next new condo comes up and u move again to "live near the most happening place".

The money i spent there, rent memang better.

Hence the debate...

One will ask.. why do you need a property? The money u saved by not buying a property you should have been able to invest and make more money (pls dont assume property price will go up 200% in 5 years, the average rate for property appreciation in Malaysia is 4~5% per annum for the last 20 yrs).

What is the benefit of owning a property? So u can leave something to your kid?

There are lots of discussion on buy v rent o the net, pro and cons both side. But our asian way of thinking die die must buy a house

You have to remember that Chimes is phase 1, big percentage of the buyers back then are flippers. Will they willingly jeopardise the resale value of their units....?

I would advice your friend to book a viewing with one of those chimes sellers, then go drive around the entire chimes area... the issue is very visible...

I work in KL bro... currently staying in KK, thats around 40 minutes to the office in the morning....

On a perfect day (aka Hari Raya periods) i reach home from office in about 25 minutes...

The usual KL/KK jam starts around 530pm... up to say 8pm...

I NEVER go out the house at 730am bro... but my advice would be to use Google Map everyday.... sometimes my usual route will show +20 Minutes.... so if u take a wrong turn in the morning you lose 20 minutes... not funny.

Also to know your timing... 730am u load up google map on your mobile, put the start at RImbayu and destination at your office, see how long it takes.. it will be real time traffic.. do this for a week and you will get a good idea. You dont actually have to be at Rimbayu..
