even so...52k for wiring loom? 1/3 of the price of the car? still not justifiable the price

Is not the wire mang.
Is the German engineering required to produce those wires. You think is cheapskate proton or japon low class engineering ah?

R&D cost, design cost, system cost. Is the complete integration that makes it expensive. Is unlike japon car where sensor fail still can drive one.
Vw conti super intelligent car one sensor gonna fail system can auto detect and light up warning and stop the car refuse to start. That way can avoid further damage to the car liao.

Very high class engineering indeed

holy monkeyballs, WIRING HARNESS 52K!!!???

in all seriousness, really need to change the whole wiring harness meh? cant they just splice the affected wire, solder n heatshrink it? that car wiring really that manja meh?

Since late 1990 onwards till today, all car wiring cables has different ratings. Different amp and volts for those cables. Why? Save cost. They do not need to use same cable gauge that would cost more. And use cheaper gauge cables on some areas like lights. LED lights does not need to use high gauge rating cables so they use cheaper cables there.

The idea that all cables have same capability is not valid anymore. Just ask any car wiring shop if they could replace your modern car wiring with cables that they buy off shelf. It will not work.

Vw should stop screwing their customer. If its really expansive, then their should design it with more protection...how can a rat cut the wire??? Design problem?? And ask for a ridiculast price to boot...

Authorized service centers don't help you fix your cars they just help you replace parts (in this case the whole fucking harness wire). I had same experience with bmw, transfer case gear wear off, they quote replace whole transfer system @rm24k, I laughed at them and change it at workshop for less than rm1.5k.
*
Absolutely agree, they will replace the whole part even if a small small thing is faulty
