lol.. their technician freaking serious, dont they ever learn, how to cut and connect it back? why have to change the whole thing.. cut throat to the max ,
go die with the warranty.. learn n maintain it outside.. pay them for nothing

it's also possible that the mechanic is very incompetence, just simply quote change the whole system to be on the safe side otherwise they might lose money. but in the end it's the consumers who suffer, so this is really unfair.

has nothing to do with competency of mechanics, that is the way Service Centers do things, not limited to VW, even japanese brands ask you to swap out everything to fix a small leak. Service centers only do simple oil change service, they won't bother helping you fix shit when they can spent the time servicing more cars thus the ridiculous quotations. This does not help their image though, but they don't fking care, people still buy their shit anyway, we need cars in malaysia, when the MRT/LRT goes into full swing and new kids come into work force you'll see a dramatic shift towards public transport, then the car brands will start giving a fuck about their service.
