Authorized service centers don't help you fix your cars they just help you replace parts (in this case the whole fucking harness wire). I had same experience with bmw, transfer case gear wear off, they quote replace whole transfer system @rm24k, I laughed at them and change it at workshop for less than rm1.5k.

at RM52k the service center clearly does not want to fix the problem for you, they are either lazy or just don't know how to fix it, they basically force the victim to void his warranty by sending else where repair.

it's fucking stupid though, how are the cables so exposed that rats can go in and chew it, first time even hear something like this, i can leave my 10 yr old busted toyota (spare car) out there not driven for a week and it'll still run just fine.

if anything, maybe can sue for bad design.

has nothing to do with competency of mechanics, that is the way Service Centers do things, not limited to VW, even japanese brands ask you to swap out everything to fix a small leak. Service centers only do simple oil change service, they won't bother helping you fix shit when they can spent the time servicing more cars thus the ridiculous quotations. This does not help their image though, but they don't fking care, people still buy their shit anyway, we need cars in malaysia, when the MRT/LRT goes into full swing and new kids come into work force you'll see a dramatic shift towards public transport, then the car brands will start giving a fuck about their service.
